Myths Reawakened

The mysterious man was overjoyed. Having found a new favorite, he instantly forgot about his excellent, hardworking employee. He activated the formula on the Book of Hell, completely unleashing the Divine Comedy of the Seven Deadly Sins.

A black storm rose from Caim’s heart. The violent winds crushed his body and extended from the sky to the land below, pulverizing the succubus and grinding up the cancerous white tissues in Caim’s body.

The storm flung the mass of white foam away, which wriggled and transformed into an eyeball with tentacles after hitting the ground.

The Book of Greed perked up, having caught the scent of food.

Wayne refused to comply. He dodged the terrifying suction force from the strange black storm. It had already shredded the massive fly closest to it, and he had lost connection with the foamy thoughts he had hidden in Caim, the succubus, and the fly. If he recklessly charged in, he would probably become minced meat himself.

It felt familiar. The boss monster was entering its third phase!

Just as he was wondering what the transformation would be, the vessels of the Lord of Envy, Wrath, Sloth, and Greed lost control over their movements. They struggled to escape, but it was futile. The black storm swallowed them all, contracting and stripping away all the physical traits of the demon lords to create a new shell in the darkness.

The end result was a three-meter-tall white faceless figure, its upper face covered by a black mask. Its long limbs were slender without pronounced muscles. A vertical slit opened in its chest and abdomen, from which black sludge slowly overflowed. Six sinful faces bobbed up and down within it. From its back, four thick tentacles thrashed about randomly.

Wayne’s eyes widened. He remembered now. The last time he’d encountered something this sinister was at the Snow Estate. The abomination then had been burned to ash by Mona and the Sacred Lance of Heaven, unable to overcome the attribute disadvantage.

After its death, a hellish tome had fallen out, which was then stolen by a mysterious man dressed in a suit. According to Mona, the person was in Londan.

Good news, he found the mastermind behind the attack on Lando Estate. Bad news, he didn’t know who it was.

His sharp eyes noticed that the white monster was different from the one at the Snow Estate—the faces representing different sins were fewer this time. It made sense since the fusion materials were missing the vessel for the Lord of Pride.

But what about the four tentacles? It didn’t seem to be a trend in hell. Was his blood and flesh incorporated?

This is plagiarism!

“Bastard, did you pay the licensing fee?”

Wayne flew into a rage, flipping the faceless figure off before running away from it. In the air, Veronica urged Auston to help. All they did was fight among themselves every day. Sure, Wayne was a scumbag, but he was the family heir!

Of course, she didn’t actually speak those words; she was so easily embarrassed that she would rather die than spell her feelings out. Therefore, she simply punched Auston in the face repeatedly to express her anxiety.

Because she didn’t speak up, Auston didn’t lend his help. He let another punch land and coughed up a mouthful of blood. Under her flustered gaze, he collapsed with his eyes rolling back, clutching the silver coin as the poker cards scattered everywhere.

He was exhausted!

He had fought to the very last moment and simply couldn’t hold on anymore. And with him depleting his thoughts and mana, the projections he had summoned with the cards also vanished.

Gone were the vessels of the demon lords, and the inverted pentagram also dispersed from the vast space, resulting in the projection of hell fading. In its place was the lawn of the Lando Estate, where the white, faceless monster was chasing Wayne around.

Veronica clutched her pinned-up blonde hair in frustration, landing another punch on Auston’s face. She didn’t believe that Auston had passed out, nor did she believe that Wayne couldn’t fight back.

These two bastards were still acting!

“Damn it, why don’t you two just die?!”

Enraged, she rolled up her sleeves, determined to take matters into her own hands. As she took a step forward, the ‘unconscious’ Auston grabbed her ankle.

Meanwhile, the mysterious man sighed quietly. Half of the plan had failed—he hadn’t managed to reveal Auston’s greatest secret. Fortunately, the harvest was still substantial.

First, they found out that the Death Knight had taken the antique silver coin related to Death, which was unexpected but reasonable. Second, he learned the secret of how Wayne had killed Obed and obtained the flesh and blood of a dominant lifeform of the Astral Plane.

Although it was secondhand flesh that had been corrupted, it was better than nothing. He could now incorporate Astral creatures into his hellish masterpiece, furthering his progress. It was a pleasant surprise indeed.

He raised his hand toward the sky and brought the Book of Hell to him, holding it to his chest and wiping it with his sleeve. He had obtained the book at the orphanage where he met Caim. It contained the Divine Comedy of the Seven Deadly Sins and embodied hell’s power, also bringing him a profound faith—in the Lord of Pride!

Through research, the mysterious man learned that somewhere in Londan was an altar of hell. The great Lord of Pride had long descended to the mortal realm!

Boom!!

Somewhere in the sky, a great collision struck the space. Cracks spread as air currents danced wildly through them. The mysterious man glanced in that direction and lamented his bad luck. He vanished in a flash.

Boom!

A white dragon crashed through the cracked space. Silvia stood on the dragon’s back at two meters tall in her half-transformed state, her body covered in white scales with elegant curves; it looked like she was wearing a fitted chainmail armor.

Behind her were spears and greatswords forged from the four elements, each piercing through a corpse. The bodies were all wearing black suits, dress shoes, white shirts, and white gloves, with blurry facial features. They were the mysterious man’s clones, created with the flesh of the Astral Egg. Some were pierced in the head, others through the chest, and they were arranged in a neat row.

Veronica stared at the dragonrider, dumbfounded. She had known the dragonrider since her birth, but what about the great dragon? So dragons did exist in the Chosen Land?

The great dragon dove down and landed, clamping its jaw around the white, faceless figure chasing Wayne. It lifted its head as heat surged from its throat. A high-temperature ray shot toward the sky, and the faceless figure vaporized and scattered in the wind.

Wayne gaped. He knew the dragonrider, but what about the great dragon? He remembered a certain someone saying that there were no dragons in the Chosen Land. She had better come and receive her punishment[1].

Under his incredulous gaze, the white dragon shrank and transformed into Megan.

“Ah! Huh? Hah—”

Wayne was beyond shocked. He never expected Auston to be an actual dragonrider—wait, Auston was already that. He just never thought that Auston had ridden a real dragon.

When he recovered from his shock, Megan had already created a black robe with her thoughts to cover herself up, and only then did he realize that Megan hadn’t been wearing anything just now.

Which was better. After all, she was Auston’s lover, technically Wayne’s aunt.

The great eagle descended. Veronica jogged up to circle Megan several times.

Silvia pinned the dead clones to the ground, making her way to Auston in a few strides to step on his face. “Bastard, still playing dead? Wayne almost got killed.”

She knew Auston well.

Sure enough, although Veronica hadn’t been able to wake Auston up no matter what she did, he suddenly regained consciousness when his two-meter-tall half-dragon wife lifted him into the air by his collar. He said weakly, “I wasn’t playing dead. I’ve almost depleted my thoughts. I’ve done my best.”

As if she would believe that! Silvia tossed him into the air and sent him flying with a kick.

“Megan, go check if the bastard’s dead. If not, bring him back.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Meanwhile, Wayne transformed back to human form and peeled off a random pair of pants from the pile of corpses, putting them on. Veronica watched him through the entire process, getting back at him for having seen her naked before. She had always been the competitive sort.

She leaned toward Wayne. “Bastard, what secret are you hiding? And what’s that ugly form earlier? Are you still human?”

“I can still reproduce.”

“Who asked you that?!”

Enraged by his pathological tendency to lie, Veronica sent him flying with a punch.

A minute later, Megan returned with the two pieces of trash. Auston had flown farther, and she picked Wayne up on her way here.

Auston lay prone on the ground, breathing in less than breathing out. He seemed to be on his last legs.

Wayne poked at him and said regretfully, “He’s hanging by a thread, probably impossible to save. It is what it is. Let’s eat first!”

He walked over to the dead clones. “I know this guy. When I was handling my mission at the Snow Estate, he stole the Book of Hell. He’s a Londaner.”

Auston sat up suddenly from his deathbed, saying with a frown, “He’s been cultivating the Book of Hell—no, he’s making it evolve.”

“Is there someone like that among the higher-ups of the Ministry of Magic?”

“Not the higher-ups, but there is an expert well-versed in the study of hell...” Auston shook his head. “He’s not a particularly powerful mage, only Silver-ranked. He has a lot of theoretical knowledge, but in actual combat...”

“You’re also a Silver-ranked mage!” Wayne huffed. “And the result? You defeated so many demons, without even showing your hidden trump card!”

He turned to Silvia. “Master, there was a naked succubus, and Auston was staring straight at her.”

“Huh?!”

“I’m telling the truth. Veronica can testify. He gulped several times with a lecherous expression I couldn’t copy.”

Bam!

Before Auston could explain, he was flying again—so was Wayne. His tattling reminded Veronica that Wayne had also gulped many times at the succubus.

Megan went to retrieve the trash.
