Myths Reawakened

Damn bastard. I only used your sword and rode your horse. How petty are you to be hung up on Julia practicing her techniques with another man? It’s for your own good!

Wayne clenched his teeth, cursing the Headless Knight out for not honoring his word.

His changing expressions didn’t escape Auston’s notice. The older man said with a poker face, “Wayne, why are the demons seeking you? It’s important. You have to say it, or all of the Lando family will take the fall.”

Wayne’s expression tightened. He was willing to trust Veronica, and he was even willing to trust Auston. Personal grudges aside, Auston was the dependable sort. But if he just told them that he was the Death Knight...

“Wayne, I’ll protect you.” Veronica didn’t push Wayne away. She met his eyes steadily.

Her rare straightforwardness made Wayne’s heart race. He took a deep breath. “Alright, I am keeping some secrets. Because it’s so outlandish, I—”

Boom!

The wall crumbled, and a figure with a pair of wings slowly floated in.

Who dares to get in my way? Auston raged. He was this close to learning Trash Jr.’s biggest secret.

The three of them turned to the intruder at the same time, halting in shock. A few pale figures dressed in patients’ gowns walked into the study, their blood vessels pure black under their bloated skin. Their eyes were bloodshot. With their translucent, colorless skin and the slimy fluids secreted from their pores, they looked like a pack of zombies.

Of course, they weren’t actual zombies. They had the pious look of pilgrims on their faces, hiding an unbridled insanity in their bones, their chaotic thoughts fluctuating without rhyme or reason

The Forgotten Ones! They were mages who had glimpsed into the Astral Plane and ended up corrupted by its knowledge.

Behind the group of Forgotten Ones, the puppetmaster hovered in the air with spread black wings and curved horns on her head. She had rectangular pupils and unguligrade legs like goats.

She was stunning, her alluring eyes deep and captivating, her skin fair and smooth like porcelain. Her long blonde locks ran down her torso, covering her full breasts while emphasizing them.

She was tall and fit with beautiful curves and a supple waist, her hips round and shapely. From her tailbone, a scorpion-like long tail wrapped around her fair, long leg, just about concealing her private part to create mystique, while clutching her legs tightly to accentuate their fullness.

A succubus!

Gulp! x3

She’s insanely hot!

Only after gulping did Wayne realize something didn’t add up. He stared down at Veronica angrily, reproaching her, “Wake up. Your fiancé is right here. How could you salivate after another woman?”

Veronica broke out of her trance. Remembering her lapse in control, she apologized reflexively and promised never to repeat the mistake. Then she realized that she didn’t have a fiancé. She glared at Wayne and snapped, “You gulped too. You depraved, shameless, and perverted man, get your hands off me.”

“You heard it wrong. It wasn’t me.” Wayne quickly shifted the blame to Auston, snarling, “I heard you gulp, pervert! I’ll tell Master. Prepare to die!”

Auston’s face darkened.

“Hahaha—”

The succubus—no, the Lord of Lust’s vessel in the human world chuckled. Her devastating charm permeated the house along with her fragrance, indiscriminately seducing everyone and everything. Even the Forgotten Ones, despite having lost their sanity, were visibly entranced.

Auston’s and Veronica’s hearts raced. Both of them looked dazed, unable to resist the succubus’s charisma. Wayne was different. Seduction was essentially a form of mental attack. The intangible mental corruption was, at its core, no different from the omnipresent whispers in the Astral Plane, or the rewards granted by ancient gods.

Wayne could reject the corruption of the Astral Plane, and he had endured an ancient god’s blessing. His thoughts were resilient enough to resist the succubus’s temptation.

Moreover, he could overcome the corruption and corrupt High Reverend Filomina instead, making her alternate between an elf and a tentacle monster. He was even changing her insides into his shape with subtle influence.

In a sense, he was also a succubus—no, incubus!

The succubus was surprised to see Wayne shake off her seduction. She smiled, curling her finger.

Veronica and Auston walked toward her uncontrollably. Wayne grabbed Veronica and threatened, “Auston, if you take another step forward, I guarantee you that Master will beat you to death.”

Auston shuddered, his shirt immediately drenched by cold sweat. Recovering his mental faculty, he took two steps back and put Wayne in front of him.

Bastard, that’s my signature move! Wayne made a face. Megan had to be blind to choose a married man who literally put his allies before himself when there was a threat. She would’ve found a better man by grabbing a random passerby on the street while blindfolded.

He lowered his head and kissed Veronica on the face. “Wake up. Vera just kissed your fiancé, with tongue!”

“She wouldn’t dare!!”

Veronica’s eyes widened, darting around to look for Vera. Wayne snorted and pulled her behind him, speaking like the paragon of celibacy, “You two give in to your base desires too easily and can’t resist the succubus. I’ll take care of her.”

How are you able to resist the succubus?

Auston asked from the bottom of his heart. This succubus wasn’t a regular one. It was an almost perfect vessel for the Lord of Lust, which hell had promised the royal family. Auston was able to resist the temptation for his own reasons, but what about Wayne? Was it only because his original bloodline was evolving in the direction of an ancient god?

That might be a factor, but there had to be something else!

Auston clutched the silver coin in his hand, feeling increasingly frustrated as he thought about the missing chance. He was so close to making the trash spell his secret.

Veronica stood by Auston with her eyes closed, but even with white scales emerging all over her arms, she couldn’t resist the succubus’s deadly charm. Her voice and her scent in the air alone made Veronica’s mouth dry and her heart race; looking straight at the succubus was out of the question.

The succubus was pleased with Veronica’s reaction. She gave Auston a strange look. “You can break out of my control, too. Something isn’t right. I came for you. You should display your true power.”

Wayne halted, pricking up his ears for Auston’s response.

He had misunderstood the Headless Knight. The demons weren’t here for the Death Knight, and the manliest man of all men hadn’t tattled on the one who cuckolded him, keeping the secret stubbornly.

Don’t worry, Headless Knight. Julia will be happy!

Auston scoffed. “I didn’t break free of your control. Quite the contrary, your charm has captivated me completely, but there is nothing shameful about appreciating beauty. It’s human nature...”

After reassuring Veronica, he said, “It’s just that compared to your charm, I love my wife more. She is more attractive than you in my eyes. Simple as that.”

Veronica was beyond touched, while Wayne scoffed dismissively. He had never heard anyone express his fear for his wife in such noble terms. Too bad that Wayne had seen Auston’s lecherous face. He coveted the succubus’s body!

How shameless!

“No, you can escape my control, and it has nothing to do with your wife. I represent the deepest and most primitive desires in a human heart. No one should be able to break free. While one may recover temporarily, they can’t stay level-headed.”

The succubus pointed at Veronica. “Her reaction is the norm. You two are different. There’s something strange about both of you.”

I knew there was something wrong with him! x2

Auston stayed silent and pretended to hear nothing. Wayne made a sudden attack, scattering greenness from his fingertips. The parasitic spores fell on the eight Forgotten Ones, using their vitality for growth.

It didn’t work well. While the Forgotten Ones had lost their mental faculties, they had gained unprecedented knowledge and retained their battle instincts from when they were sane. As soon as the spores landed on them, they erased the spores in different ways.

Since Auston wasn’t as weak as he appeared to be, Wayne told him to protect Veronica after the failed attack. He vanished, leaving an afterimage as he dashed toward one of the Forgotten Ones.

Bam!

A hole was put into the wall of the study. Wayne returned with the Forgotten One’s head.

In the corridor, the headless body moved on its own, while the head he was clutching looked around, grinning maliciously and casting a spell with its lingering thoughts.

Swoosh!

Eight invisible spears of wind elements rained down, piercing through Wayne’s head, chest, abdomen, and thighs, pinning him to the ground. The fatal wounds should’ve been beyond treatment even with a miracle.

Veronica opened her eyes in shock, blanching.

Wayne’s wounds didn’t bleed. After three seconds, he walked away from the wind spears like he was phasing through them. His incredibly malleable body made Auston frown.

A power that appeared to be related to the Astral Plane, only he was sane. It could be explained by his evolution mimicking an ancient god.

This isn’t what I wanted! Wayne cursed under his breath. The Old Two-Face actually watched him die and left Veronica feeling terrified for three seconds.

This guy...

How many secrets is he keeping? x2

What will make him expose himself? x2
