Daddy Always Gets Jealous

He lifted his wrist to check the time: an hour had passed. Surely the matters he had to attend to were dealt with by now?

He picked up his cell phone and called Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan answered the call and walked onto the balcony.

Qin Shaojin brewed his thoughts for a moment, ”Gu Jizhou’s case might encounter some complications.”

Huo Jinnan looked at Qin Shaojin, ”I’m prepared mentally. Some things can be dismissed, but some can’t be completely pushed away.”

”Sorry, this time it was a lack of vigilance.”

Qin Shaojin thought back to that incident, not expecting to fall so deeply asleep in the car and not noticing when he was pick-pocketed.

”Let’s see what the other party has planned.”

After Huo Jinnan hung up the phone, he saw Che Huan standing behind him, his eyes resting on her.

Che Huan looked up at Huo Jinnan, not asking what had happened, yet concern was written all over her face.

Huo Jinnan approached, his fingertip touching her cheek, ”Want to know?”

Che Huan shook her head, then nodded.

Huo Jinnan stood there, one hand tucked in his trouser pocket, the other smoking a cigarette, narrating the whole process in a low, magnetic voice.

Che Huan stood there listening and felt a sudden shock in her heart.

By the time he had finished, she was breaking out in a cold sweat.

Looking up at Huo Jinnan and meeting his thick, ink-like eyes, she leaned into his embrace, ”Do you trust me that much?”

Huo Jinnan’s eyes drooped, looking at Che Huan; his thin lips were pressed into a straight line, and his voice became a few degrees colder, ”Is it that you have no confidence in yourself, or in me?”

”...”

Che Huan said nothing, snuggling even closer into his embrace, stretching out her hand towards his large palm.

Huo Jinnan’s gaze deepened as he swept a look over Che Huan and tightly grasped her hand, ”Try looking at me like that again in the future.”

Che Huan bit her lip, her voice soft and mellow, ”If you keep this up, you’ll spoil me rotten.”

Huo Jinnan’s lips slightly curled in an arrogant smile, ”It’s good that you know.”

Thinking of her mother, Che Huan became somewhat worried and looked at Huo Jinnan with furrowed brows, ”Do you think the Qin family trusts my mother?”

Huo Jinnan looked down at Che Huan, ”That’s for Qin Moting to deal with.”

Che Huan thought it over and agreed. After owing her and her mother so much, this opportunity might just reveal whether this man could be someone her mother could rely on!

Huo Jinnan then thought about Che Huan wanting to go back to school, ”The matter of going to school should wait for now. Let’s see how things are in a few days; if you are pregnant, you’ll stay home and properly rest.”

Che Huan tugged Huo Jinnan’s sleeve, ”What if I’m not?”

”Then you can go to school,” Huo Jinnan said, while smoking and looking at Che Huan. After a pause, he added, ”I will consider becoming a distinguished professor like Qin Shaojin.”

”...”

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, slowly catching on, ”Professor or ’beast’?”

”What do you think?”

Huo Jinnan flicked the cigarette ash, glancing deeply at Che Huan before picking up his phone and calling Huo Bei, ”Keep a close watch on the detention center and the sanatorium these next few days, and keep a close eye on Uncle Guan.”

After the conversation ended, he brought Che Huan to the study, opened the second drawer, and, with eyes downcast deep in thought, proceeded to the living room.

Seeing Mother Rong cleaning the house, his gaze rested on her.

Mother Rong carefully noted the master’s expression, seeing nothing to decipher, and stood trying to make herself seem less present, her heart beating faster!

In reality, that day, she truly hadn’t heard or seen anything, hiding so quickly in her room. Could the master still be unsatisfied with how fast she reacted?

After watching for a good while, Huo Jinnan asked in a low voice, ”Has Huo Jinxue been here in the past few days?”
