The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

”Then just wait for the City Lord to come out of seclusion and request an audience.” The maid looked at the regret on He Ling’s face and couldn’t help saying softly.

”Mm. I don’t even know when the City Lord will come out.” He Ling sighed, then his eyes suddenly lit up as if he’d thought of something. He said to the two maids, ”Elder Sisters, could you tell me where the City Lord is in seclusion? Don’t worry, I won’t disturb him. I’ll just stand far away and pay my respects. Just tell me a direction, I’ll bow toward that direction.”

The two maids covered their mouths and laughed, apparently not expecting this disciple who was currently in the limelight to worship their City Lord this much.

”Over in that direction. Even if you wanted to disturb him, you couldn’t. There are people guarding it day and night.” One of the maids stretched out her hand and pointed in a direction.

”In that case, thank you, Elder Sisters.” He Ling smiled, then took out two Jade Bracelets from his Storage Ring and handed them to the two maids. ”Just a small gift, I hope Elder Sisters won’t dislike it.”

The two maids exchanged a glance, smiled, then generously accepted He Ling’s gift. After chatting with He Ling for a bit more, they left.

He Ling sent a voice transmission to the mighty expert inside the necklace.

”Senior, since it’s this direction and heavily guarded, it should be easy to find.”

”Indeed, it should be very easy to find. Sky City is only so big—where could they possibly hide him?” The mighty expert let out a derisive snort.

After He Ling walked away, the two maids turned a corner and went into a secluded spot. They saluted a female guard there—this female guard was one of Tianmiao’s twelve guards, and also the one who had spoken that day about teaching He Ling a lesson.

”Lord Bai Qing, that person asked us about the direction of the City Lord’s seclusion. He also gave us jade bracelets.” The two maids took out the bracelets and presented them to the guard. This Bai Qing was an outstanding disciple of the main family; only after defeating many competitors had she become the Young City Lord’s guard. She was intelligent and resourceful, and utterly loyal to the Young City Lord.

”Hmph, he really is generous. They’re yours, just put them away. You did very well—go to the storeroom and collect your reward.” Bai Qing nodded and praised the two, then turned to go report to Tianmiao.

The two maids happily put the bracelets away, then went together to the storeroom to claim their reward. In their hearts they were still complaining that He Ling’s brain really had a few holes. Did he think a few smiles and some gifts would muddle them so badly they’d lose their heads? The people of Sky City valued their loyalty to Sky City even more than their own lives! Getting praised by Lord Bai Qing today was truly delightful.

Bai Qing went to find Tianmiao to report.

Tianmiao smiled. ”You did very well. Next, we have work to do. We’ll be catching a turtle in a jar.”

Having received praise, Bai Qing felt delighted. She silently thought to herself that she’d write it down in her notebook when she got back—today she’d been praised by the Young City Lord again.

Tianmiao rose to go find the four Elders to discuss the matter. It looked like things would soon be settled.

As for how the four Elders would explain this to the Cangyuan Sect’s Sect Master, that wasn’t something she needed to concern herself with.

The task in this world should almost be finished, right?

Tianmiao walked along the corridor made of white jade, looking at the beautiful scenery in the courtyard, feeling a bit reluctant to part. She really liked this world—both its scenery and its people. After finishing the task, she’d stay in this world for a while longer.

In fact, in this world there was originally no Young City Lord Bai Yue. She had never existed. Because of that, this world had faced a great calamity and nearly collapsed. Tianmiao’s arrival prevented the collapse of this world.

Only, it seemed things wouldn’t end so simply.

(Feels like there’s about ten thousand more words before this world’s arc can be wrapped up. The pits buried in this world will be explained in the end.)
