Just when Chen Fei thought the other party would fly into a rage and not waste any more words on him, an ice-cold voice suddenly reached his ears, causing his pupils to shrink.

”Do you want to monopolize that Eastern strongman’s treasure?”

”...Mr. Holy Magister, what do you mean by that?” After a moment of silence, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, narrowed his eyes and spoke slowly.

”Heh, what do I mean? It’s quite simple. Right now, the only ones competing with you for that Eastern strongman’s treasure are the brothers Wenn Tianxiong and Wenn Yongshou. If you’re willing to join forces with me and take this opportunity to eliminate them, I can promise to give you my full support in monopolizing that Eastern strongman’s treasure. How does that sound? You should know, if I, Melsdom, weren’t a magician of the Western Dark World with no use for treasures left by your Eastern strongmen, I would never give this up, no matter what!”

Saint Magus Melsdom, hiding in the shadows, spoke slowly with a tone of enticement and threat, making no attempt to hide his murderous intent toward the Wenn brothers. ”On the other hand, if you refuse to join me, those two will certainly come after you to eliminate you. After all, they also seem eager to monopolize the treasures left by that Eastern strongman, don’t they? At that point, heh heh...”

”You want to rope me into dealing with Wenn Tianxiong?” Hearing this, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, narrowed his jet-black eyes. He didn’t immediately agree or refuse. Instead, he sat back down in his seat and fell silent, his brow furrowed in deep contemplation.

”That’s right. But this would be a win-win situation, wouldn’t it? I have a feud with that old man, and it’s not like they’re going to spare you now. Doesn’t your Huaxia have a saying, ’The enemy of my enemy is my friend’? We could be considered friends now, couldn’t we?” The enticing voice of Saint Magus Melsdom came once more, completely unhurried and full of confidence.

It couldn’t be helped. To Melsdom, this offer was like a nearly-dead Demon of the Holy Domain to an Eastern cultivator—an irresistible temptation. In his eyes, such an existence was a veritable gold mine, one completely without defense or protection! So he was confident. No cultivator from the East could possibly refuse such a great temptation. To have the Eastern strongman’s treasure all to oneself... All he had to do now was wait quietly for Chen Fei’s reply.

And he was right. Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was indeed tempted by an offer he could not refuse.

After frowning and pondering for a moment, he finally murmured with narrowed eyes, ”Indeed, the offer is quite attractive. But surely you can’t expect me to decide to take on a Peak Late Stage Innate Ancient Martial Artist right now just based on your word. I need you to show some sincerity.”

”Sincerity? Alright, if you really want some, then I’ll tell you a story,” Saint Magus Melsdom said from the darkness, his eyes narrowing as he spoke with a hint of self-mockery.

Hearing this, a strange light flashed deep in the eyes of Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, as he listened with a stoic expression.

It turned out that Melsdom was not a loner but the founder and current president of a top magic guild in the European Dark World. This magic guild happened to be located in a country neighboring the one dominated by the Ween Family, so the two sides had a history of friction over conflicting interests.

Later, as Wenn Tianxiong grew more powerful, Melsdom’s magic guild grew correspondingly weaker. The Ween Family got ideas of expansion and made a move against the country where Melsdom’s magic guild was based. Wenn Yongshou deliberately provoked a conflict with one of Melsdom’s disciples, antagonizing him until the two came to blows. The disciple was then killed on the spot by Wenn Yongshou, who had concealed his true strength. The Ween Family used this incident as a pretext to declare war on Melsdom’s magic guild, intending to conquer it.

Ultimately, however, Melsdom was strong enough and had a robust network. He managed to call upon the Dark Temple—a power comparable to the Divine Holy Church—for help. Wary of the behemoth that was the Dark Temple, the Ween Family chose to withdraw their forces. Despite this, Melsdom’s magic guild suffered extremely heavy losses, and his disciple was personally killed by Wenn Yongshou. From that moment on, the two sides were locked in a blood feud.

”Later, I waited for another good opportunity to kill Wenn Yongshou and avenge my disciple! But he managed to escape from my grasp. When Wenn Tianxiong found out, he hunted me for a week,” stated Saint Magus Melsdom from the shadows, his eyes glinting with a menacing coldness and his voice dripping with ice.

”Wait, are you sure you’re not mistaken? You’re saying that Old Rascal… he’s that smart? And he managed to escape from a Holy Magister like you?” Hearing this, Chen Fei felt a sense of utter disbelief, his eyes narrowing as he spoke.

Based on his previous interactions with that Old Rascal, Chen Fei found it unbelievable. How could such a contemptuous and arrogant man possess that kind of mind, that kind of cunning? And his power... wasn’t the Old Rascal only at the Extreme Mid Innate Ancient Martial Artist level? At that level, how could he possibly have escaped from a Holy Magister?
