MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

1137  Tier I Being

”Now, just before I answer the question thatʼs popped up in your minds at this moment, let me just see if everyone here has read through the notifications theyʼve received?” As these words left Schoʼdoxaʼs mouth, almost everyone nodded in response to his question.

Nodding back after seeing a few more beings nod in confirmation to his question, the man inwardly let out a sigh of relief before beginning his explanation. ”Alright.”

”As Iʼve mentioned before, those who fail to pass the first round would obtain the title of Tier I Being before being sent back to your home planet.”

”However, what I havenʼt mentioned is that those who pass the first round would also obtain the title regardless,” continued the man, causing many to perk up their ears in response. ”Now the reason for that is quite simple.”

”Itʼs the systemʼs way of preparing everyone for the upcoming version.” At these words, Schoʼdoxa soon went on a lengthy explanation, reminding everyone about the beings that would appear in the upcoming version.

Mentioning once more that those beings would be protected by the system, the man told everyone that even though most of them would likely help them with their problems, there would still be a small portion of them whoʼd rather commit slaughter and cause chaos instead.

After all, they were beings protected by the system themselves.

With that, Schoʼdoxa explained that the system created a safety measure that would deter these unscrupulous beings from attacking them, which was none other than the title they received from him.

”Aside from nullifying the effectiveness of the first attack of those beings, the title also reduces the damage you take from their attacks by a certain percentage,” said Schoʼdoxa, prompting some of them to take a look at their new title in their greater detail.

”However, not only does the title reduce the damage you take from them, but it also increases the damage you deal to them while also increasing the punishment they receive from the system.”

Hearing those words, a look of enlightenment appeared on some of the peoplesʼ faces on the field, now getting a better idea of the beings that would appear once the new version arrived.

Of course, that included Julian and Noel, who considered their positions as beings of authority and understood that they stood to gain more from the beings than lose out.

After all, the title they received was just that, a safety measure.

Then again, there were those who looked at Schoʼdoxaʼs explanation from a different perspective.

One of those people included Valyr.

ʼ…I see.ʼ Listening to the manʼs explanation, Valyrʼs gaze glistened with understanding. ʼSo, thatʼs why it seemed borderline impossible to kill the important NPCs back in Greater Beyond.ʼ

Shifting his thoughts back to his past life, the young man soon recalled an experiment the player base did when the War of the Three Sovereignties was at its peak.

After information on the warʼs prominent beings had been shared with the entire player base through the forum, a few of them decided to look at the war from a different perspective, coming up with a radical solution that showed promise.

Of course, that radical solution was none other than to kill the beings that caused the war in the first place, hoping that their existence disappearing would end the war once and for all.

With that, the top players banded together to form a force that caused even the armies of the three sovereignties to tremble with fear.

Though they were able to kill unimportant NPCs with relative ease, that same level of ease began to apply less and less as they got closer to the beings that caused the war in the first place.

In the end, the radical idea the players dissolved in a matter of days after realizing no amount of force they mustered would allow them to kill the beings that caused the war.

At that moment, players complained in the forums that the developers were stifling their freedom, talking about how they had intentionally made those beings impossible to kill due to their relevance to the entire story.

With Schoʼdoxaʼs explanation now giving him greater insight to the matter, Valyr now understood that Greater Beyond did indeed make it intentionally difficult for players to kill NPCs, with the system itself even going so far as to take initiative.

However, the way they went about it was far more complicated than he initially thought.

ʼI really donʼt know how theyʼre doing it,ʼ thought Valyr to himself. ʼShouldnʼt something like this take more than just a couple quantum supercomputing servers to compute?ʼ

ʼPerhaps even all of the worldʼs strongest quantum supercomputers combined wouldnʼt be able to calculate something like this!ʼ

Understanding that pondering over the matter wouldnʼt really amount to much, the young man pushed his thoughts to the side as Schoʼdoxa continued to explain the significance of the new title for a bit longer.

By the time he was done, he then took in a deep breath before waving his arms outward, causing the field everyone was on to expand towards his direction in an instant.

Whilst mostly everyone was left at a loss for words for his seemingly godlike feat, Schoʼdoxa continued to wave his arms here and there, eventually causing an immensely large arena to appear before everyoneʼs very eyes.

Letting out a faint sigh of satisfaction as he took a look at handiwork, Schoʼdoxa soon glanced at Valyr and the other beings that caught his fancy during the second round before sweeping his gaze over everyone.

”Though there will be fighting involved in the second round, none of you shall be facing off against any other person for this one,” said Schoʼdoxa, causing those whoʼd tensed up earlier from the sight of the arena to immediately relax.

However, it did not take long for those same people to tense up again once the man continued where he left off. ”For this second round, every one of you shall fight against a series of beasts that more or less match your current level of strength.”

”In total, all of you shall be fighting against ten beasts in a row, with each beast slightly stronger than the previous one.”

”To pass the second round, all you need to do is defeat the fifth beast, which has a level of strength equivalent to at least two small class ranks higher than what you have currently.”

”To those who complete the second round and defeat the tenth beast, a special reward would await them,” said Schoʼdoxa with a faint smirk, arousing the interest of some of the people on the field. ”As for what that special reward would be…”

”Well… you better defeat the tenth beast if you want to know, then.”

”With that out of the way, let the second round… begin!”
