Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

Chapter 145: 145: Judging by its appearance, it should be a fledgling.

”Judging by its appearance, it should be a fledgling.”

Gu Tong said noncommittally.

”Its feathers aren’t fully grown, it must be a fledgling!” Li Yan responded leisurely.

”...” Why does it sound so odd when Earl says this...?

”Chirp! Chirp!” The bald bird seemed to understand the conversation, protesting at Li Yan.

Li Yan shot it a cold glance, and the bald bird stopped squawking, yet its small eyes still stared at him sharply.

”...” This timid bird knows who not to mess with...

Gu Tong’s mouth twitched as she said, ”Should we give it a check-up?”

After all, it was injured, just watching it like this doesn’t seem right, it’s still a little life, checking it out seems more appropriate.

”It looks pretty lively to me!”

It even has the energy to glare at him, not at all like a sick bird.

”Chirp chirp!” You’re lively, your whole family is lively.

The bald bird looked at Li Yan displeased and began chirping again.

”...” Could this bird actually understand human speech...

Gu Tong felt an odd sensation, she helplessly pouted her lips and said, ”Let’s check it anyway, maybe its wing is injured and that’s why it can’t fly away.”

Birds generally fear humans. If they end up in crowded places, they scurry away, not to mention this bald bird which seems so at ease.

So Gu Tong thought Li Yan made sense, the bald bird must’ve been injured.

Li Yan absentmindedly made a sound of agreement.

But his eyes were fixed on the bald bird, afraid it might suddenly peck Gu Tong. Just from his gaze, Gu Tong could tell that if it dared to attack her, Li Yan would definitely snap its neck on the spot.

Gu Tong approached the bald bird, the latter stretched its neck, its sharp claws pressing against the table. She swallowed and said softly, ”Um... I’ll just check, I won’t hurt you...”

Saying that, she tentatively approached the bald bird, her movements slow and cautious, afraid of accidentally getting pecked.

Every time Gu Tong was about to touch the bald bird, it would shrink its little head cautiously, as if worried Gu Tong might suddenly harm it.

This might just be the nature of animals, or maybe it’s because it’s scared.

Gu Tong extended a finger and poked the bald bird’s wing. It flapped its wings, but did not resist anymore.

Seeing this, Gu Tong grew bolder and gradually began to take action.

She placed her palm on the bald bird’s back and started checking for any wounds, or if there was any blood under the feathers, or if its claws were injured. She checked thoroughly but found no abnormalities.

”Not injured?”

Not flying, not running, just staying here.

If not injured, then what else could be the reason?

Gu Tong couldn’t figure it out.

”Chirp! Chirp!” The bald bird flapped its wings, as if to prove it wasn’t injured, and suddenly soared into the air.

Gu Tong took a step back, feeling the bald bird darting towards her, and in an instant, it landed on her shoulder.

She stood there frozen, not daring to move, looking at Li Yan for help, saying, ”Honey, what do I do...?”

This bald bird is so sudden...

Without any warning, it rushed over, she didn’t even have time to think...

”Get down!” Li Yan stood up, focusing on the bald bird, sternly applying pressure with his presence.

”...” Does he really think this bird can understand? You say get down and it will just obediently get down...

Gu Tong secretly complained in her heart, but before her complaints were finished, the bald bird moved. It obediently hopped off her shoulder and settled back on the table.
