I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Such a thing could easily be done with the formations, and the entire city had a defensive formation system that was also capable of doing this.

The formation could only be rewritten.

The objections became fewer and almost everyone was satisfied with this decision.

Lian also saw no problem with it at first glance.

If thousands of people from powers that now suspected each other were going to remain inside the city for an entire day, separating them from each other would greatly reduce the chance of a conflict.

It was the right decision and this was how the meeting ended.

After leaving the hall, he remained alone for a few minutes, Cassius had gone to the Vorhelm section with the elders of the Family.

The Guild members were also moving mostly in their own closed groups, the atmosphere of the palace was strangely different from the morning.

At that time, the representatives of all the powers had sat beside each other at a ceremony, now even in the hallways the natural distance between the groups had become greater.

Lian entered the garden through one of the side exits and only a few minutes had passed when he heard a familiar voice from behind.

”Lian.”

Seris was approaching from the stone path.

She had changed out of the formal clothes from the ceremony and was now wearing her simpler white and black clothes, but the Ancestral Mark could still be seen on the back of her right hand.

Lian waited for her to come closer.

”I didn’t think the ceremony would turn out like this.” She thought for a moment and added,

”No one thought it would, well, except the one responsible for something like this.”

”That’s true.” The Young Pendragon nodded and after thinking for a moment added, ”Do you think it was the Primal Firmament?” and added,

”They have the ability to do it too, and maybe they are trying to make the Six Great Families enter a conflict.”

”I don’t know, I feel like both sides could do this, we just need to see which side benefits more from it.” Lian answered simply.

The girl fell into thought for a moment, she had no bias that would make her say it was definitely the work of the Twelve Ancient Guilds, instead, she felt that his opinion was completely logical.

”But which side benefits more? From this point of view, it should be the Six Great Families, it gives them an excuse to suppress the Twelve Guilds, which have gained a lot of power over the years because of their alliance.” She reasoned and then added,

”The Twelve Guilds get no benefit from this, on the contrary, they would be forced into a war that would eventually hurt them, they are already growing like this, so why would they create trouble for themselves?”

”So in the end, there is a hidden plan from the Six Great Families?” Seris concluded.

As they walked, the two of them moved toward a terrace that overlooked a large part of Verendal.

There were more soldiers at the intersections and the guest groups were moving toward their assigned areas.

”It’s not only that, but something did not make sense from the very beginning.” Lian added another point after thinking for a moment.

He looked at the city for a few seconds.

Where should he start?

”First, Valemont, one of their people gets killed and all the evidence points to Stormheart.”

”Then they investigate and it turns out Stormheart could not have carried out the attack.”

Seris nodded.

”Then someone from the Twelve Guilds is attacked.”

And this time all the accusations point toward the Vorhelms, and this time there was a witness, the same person who was attacked, and he said that the attack was carried out by the Vorhelm Warform Seven-Doomsday.

”And again, when they investigate, we are cleared too.”

”Then the question becomes who can imitate both of them.” Seris said calmly.

Lian looked at her.

”The Primal Firmament with the Thousand Faces Mirror artifact.”

”Yeah.”

For a few seconds, both of them remained silent.

”And you don’t think it was them.” She added, she could see where this argument was going.

The Young Pendragon raised his shoulder slightly.

”I don’t know.”

This time, he really meant it.

”It could be, but something is bothering me.”

”What?”

Lian searched for the most exact word for a few seconds and then said,

”It’s going too neatly.”

Seris waited for him to continue.

”Every time something happens, a clear answer appears in front of everyone. First Stormheart, then Vorhelm, then the Primal Firmament.”

He paused for a moment.

”But the first answer was wrong, the second answer was wrong too.”

”So you think the third one is wrong too?” Seris raised her eyebrows.

”Maybe, more than that... I feel like we’re following a script.”

”The first murder happened.”

The result?

”Verendal was locked down.”

”The second attack happened.”

Vorhelm also became part of the case.

Then when it became clear that two different powers had been copied, everyone naturally went to the only thing that could make such an imitation.

The Thousand Faces Mirror.

The result? The Twelve Guilds stood behind the Primal Firmament and the Six Great Families stood against them.

Then the Overlords were sent and now another Celestial was standing outside Verendal.

”None of these reactions were strange.”

That was exactly the problem.

”Everyone did almost exactly what was expected of them.”

”Which means someone calculated the reactions in advance.” Seris looked at the city below for a few seconds and then said calmly,

”If my guess is right, the person behind all of this not only knows what powers the Families have or what effect each Guild has, but also knows how they will act when pressure is put on them.”

This part was the worst of all.

To copy a skill, you needed to identify its structure, and to design a chain like this, you had to know the political conflicts, the pride of the Families, the interests of the Guilds, and the limits of all of them.

”Doesn’t this make it even more logical that it was the Six Great Families?” Seris looked at him.

Lian did not answer for several seconds.

The Six Great Families and the Twelve Guilds were now practically standing against each other in two different blocks.

The Overlords were outside and two Celestials were standing not far away, if someone wanted to push the world into a crisis, they had done a good job so far.

The Six Great Families were also the only ones who could design such a complicated plan, they knew each other’s personalities and knew how each of them would react.

They even had the motive, not necessarily to destroy the Twelve Guilds, but to have an excuse to suppress and weaken them.

But was it the work of all Six Great Families or only one of them? Considering that the Six Great Families had pushed the accusations toward the Twelve Guilds, it was clear that if they were behind it, then it was a plan involving all of them.

But something was still bothering him, was weakening the Twelve Guilds really worth putting the world into such a crisis? When the situation of the world was already not good?

”Maybe, if the goal is an excuse to suppress and weaken the Twelve Guilds, they already have it now.”

”Then what’s the problem?”

”I don’t know.”

This time, his answer was honest.

”I just have a feeling that this... is the result of all these chain events, not the final goal.”

Seris said nothing, perhaps because she did not have an answer either, both of them only knew that something was wrong but they still did not know exactly which part.

Whatever it was, they had become fairly sure that this plan was the work of the Six Great Families, including both of their Families, they just could not understand whether it was really worth it.

Was the only thing the Six Great Families would gain the suppression and weakening of the Twelve Ancient Guilds? Or was there another goal behind all of this?

Unfortunately for Seris, even though she was practically the next heir, she was not allowed into the major political matters, not to mention that she herself had no interest in them.

Maybe talking to her father or mother could give her the answers to her questions.

Although before she had the chance to do that.... Boom!

A deep sound passed from beneath the city and both of them almost raised their heads at the same time.

It did not seem like an explosion or an earthquake, but more like the sound of a huge machine starting up deep underground.

Lian turned back toward the city.

The golden lights that ran along the towers and main buildings lit up one after another.

First the northern section, then the west, the east, and the paths of light turned the entire city into a huge network for several seconds.

Then some lines turned off and new paths formed in their place.

Several sections that had been directly connected to the center until that moment were separated from it and formed independent rings.

Lian watched carefully.

”Is this the security separation?”

Seris nodded and her eyes moved along the Mana lines of the city.

”My mother divided the internal network.”

From a security point of view, it was completely logical.

Under normal conditions, most of Verendal’s systems were connected to each other through one large network.

Now each important guest section would have separate protection.

If someone wanted to attack another section, they could no longer freely use the same paths as before.

The Young Pendragon watched the rearrangement of the network for a few more seconds, but he did not have much time to pay attention to it.

Because Seris suddenly fell to the ground.

”What—” Lian’s sentence was not completed.

And a painful scream came from the girl.

”Ahhh—aghhh!”
