High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 681: Chapter 29 Destination_1

Behind the door, there was a pitch-dark, profound corridor.

Elegant marble wall tiles and simple heavy wooden floors, mixed with a breath of time, come forward, making people involuntarily breathe and gaze, for fear of disturbing the sleeping spirits in the corridor—this is not an exaggerated modifier, but a certain degree of fact.

On both sides of this corridor, there are portraits of famous wizards who have graduated from Alpha Academy. They include Gene Black O’Brien, head of the O’Brien family three hundred years ago, William Tapott, the dragon slaying warrior of the Tabbot family two hundred years ago, Great Alchemist Jiang Qianli who combined Eastern Refining methods with Western Alchemical theory one hundred and fifty years ago, great therapist Edward Jenner who invented the dragon plague syphilis treatment method a hundred years ago, and Great Wizard Smell Note who made significant contributions to dimensional topology theory fifty years ago, and so on.

Based on the respect for tradition and honor, Alpha People always like to hang these outstanding contributors on the wall, put them in beautifully carved walnut frames for people to admire. However, as time has passed, the number of portraits hanging on the wall has increased to the point that there are few blank walls left in the entire Alpha Castle.

Zheng Qing even heard Lin Guo say that a debate happened in Alpha Castle a while ago, discussing how to deal with the excessive ’portraits’: someone suggested opening a special room as an exhibition hall; some proposed that later portraits can be hung in the villa area outside the castle; others preferred to move ’some wizards with less prominent achievements’ away, and the vacant places to be given to more ’qualified’ wizards—the inventor of the dragon pox cultivation method, Edward Jenner, belongs to the group with ’low achievements’.

However, seeing that the therapist who had struggled with dragon plague syphilis all his life was still hanging steadily in this corridor, Zheng Qing knew that the debate at Alpha Academy had not reached a final conclusion.

”Oh, I should have brought some silence symbols.” The young scholarship student noticed the awakening portraits on both sides of the corridor and regretted quietly. He remembered that these portraits hanging on the wall for many years seem to all have bad tempers.

As the stone door opened slowly, the pale yellow sunlight fell diagonally on this profound corridor, awakening the old people in the portraits one by one. The corridor gradually filled with some rude, abrupt cursing.

”It’s not your fault.” Elena took out a Paris edition of the Law book from her arms—Zheng Qing remembered that the salesman from Shangyuan Bookstore once introduced that this kind of Law book has a gorgeous style, a heavy touch, and there are proverbs from Matthew Chapter seven on the gold trimmings.

The Gypsy Witch did not give the scholarship student more chance to admire.

She flipped through the Law book, her fingers danced agilely between the pages, and consecutively threw out three spells:

”Sleep Without Perception!”

”Sleep Without Wisdom!”

”Sleep Without Hearing!”

Zheng Qing was very familiar with these three spells.

Not long ago at the freshman competition mountain, the young scholarship student had used these spells in a Guardian Legal Formation to knock down his companions and then face the surging beast tide alone.

’Sleep Without Perception’, makes people close their eyes and sleep honestly; ’Sleep Without Wisdom’ makes people block their ears and sleep honestly; ’Sleep Without Hearing’ makes people shut their mouths and sleep honestly—in short, using this set of combination spells can make people quickly fall into a deep sleep, and unable to perceive any external information, it’s the best way to promote sleep and commit burglary.

Although the shadow took away many ’experiences’ when it left, the spells it used with Zheng Qing’s body, the young scholarship student can still use them proficiently now.

”Great choice!” The wizard praised, and suddenly asked, ”Do you need a Phantom Body Symbol? I happen to have a few on me... better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.”

This suggestion is not unfounded—looking at everything that Elena did along the way, she probably does not want anyone to know she came to Alpha Castle today. Although not sure what her plan is, as her companion, Zheng Qing feels he should show his worth.

”Then, thank you.” The witch’s eyes moved, and she smiled at the male wizard, and took the Phantom Body Symbol he gave her.

Soon, Zheng Qing realized that her actions were a bit unnecessary. The massive Alpha Castle seemed to be undergoing a refugee drill--it was utterly deserted. Apart from a few pale white ghosts drifting around drowsily, the young paid student couldn’t see any signs of life.

However, this desolate environment was even more conducive to the ”intruders’ ” actions.

Two wizards, who had hidden their tracks, quickly passed through the corridor, crossed the courtyard in the middle of the castle, and moved swiftly along the crisscrossing stairs. Even the enormous golden clock didn’t catch the attention of the witch.

Zheng Qing noticed that Elena’s actions seemed very purposeful.

So, he tried hard to restrain his curiosity—after all, he would eventually know, he comforted himself internally.

In fact, his curiosity was satisfied faster than he had anticipated. After turning a few corners and passing through a deserted rest area, Elena’s steps finally stopped in front of an archway.

”We’re here!” She clapped her hands lightly and took out a thin badge, seemingly made of sheet iron, from her pocket, and placed it in the hand of an Alchemy Puppet standing by the archway.

”Welcome.” The puppet swept its dull gaze across the empty corridor in front of it. Without any hesitation, it moved to the side according to a fixed pattern, leaving the entrance of the archway open.

”What is this place?” Zheng Qing looked somewhat surprised at the elaborately carved archway and a few familiar-looking badges hanging outside the door. He felt like he had seen these insignia somewhere before.

”Friedman’s rest area, also the headquarters of the 3A Society.” Elena’s tone was unusually calm, as if she was discussing what to eat in the afternoon: ”They are all staying in the villa area outside the castle today... until class begins tomorrow morning, there’ll be no one here.”

”What are you doing here?” Zheng Qing couldn’t help but ask.

”I have an assignment that I must complete, so I have to come.” The witch sighed, seemingly reluctant to explain further.

”Do you have the key to this place?” The young paid student still had a lot of curiosity.

”No.” The witch shrugged, receiving the badge that the Alchemy Puppet returned. She casually tossed it up in the air and said, ”I ’borrowed’ it from someone.”

Zheng Qing was dumbfounded.

Even at a simple guess, he could figure out the exact meaning of this ’borrow’.

Although he and the big wig Friedman had some disputes, with time, the slight conflict between them arising from Arthur·Ness seemed to have been mostly resolved. Objectively speaking, Zheng Qing was not an obedient person, but he certainly didn’t have the ’fondness’ for intruding into other people’s rest areas.

Moreover, Friedman was apparently not someone easy to deal with.

Just when he was hesitating whether to say something, the witch walking in front suddenly turned around and revealed a peculiar smile.

”Ah, I almost forgot!”

”You won first place in the hunting contest, and I have yet to give you a present!”
