High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 655: Chapter 3 Heart Sutra_1

”As for the third matter, it concerns you.”

Xiao Xiao turned his head, looking sharply at Zheng Qing.

”It involves me?” Zheng Qing rolled his eyes, seemingly unfazed, and let out a weary groan: ”Go on. What’s the problem now...”

”You’re ill,” Xiao Xiao said solemnly, emphasizing each word.

”I’m ill?” Zheng Qing repeated, chewed over the doctor’s words, and then suddenly burst into furious outrage. ”You’re the ill one! Have the zombies eaten your brain! Why are you suddenly insulting me!!”

”Who’s insulting?” Xiao Xiao blinked, looking utterly baffled. Nevertheless, he instinctively rebutted, ”Also, aren’t zombies the ones who suck blood and consume flesh? Very few of them would eat wizard brains... Only demons have that sort of habits.”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing was immediately left speechless in rage.

”Breathe...just breathe deeply and don’t get angry... He’s just missing a screw in his mind. You shouldn’t pay attention to an idiot... The young scholarship student forcefully suppressed his rising fury, using the technique of mental triumph taught by Master Ah Q to keep reminding himself to stay calm.

After repeating this several times, he was finally able to speak calmly again.

”Why do you say I’m ill?” The young scholarship student gritted his teeth and asked once again.

”Uh, actually saying ’you’re ill’ is rather crude, more accurately, your mind has a problem,” Xiao Xiao furrowed his brows, trying to describe Zheng Qing’s condition using more precise language.

However, he had overlooked the power of language.

Even the fury that had just begun to subside within Zheng Qing couldn’t be suppressed under the comment ’your mind has a problem’. In an instance, anger surged up from his heart leading to spontaneous malice. He let out a cry, leaping up to give the doctor a beating.

Several people around them quickly stepped forward, pulling and separating the two of them.

”How is it,” Xiao Xiao adjusted his crooked glasses, turning his head to look at the other members of the Absolution Knights, his gaze particularly halting on Shi Yuan.

”Without beginning, without achieving clarity, easily irritated, easily angered, hearts cannot find peace, and the fruits of these actions... are all taken into account... Student Zheng Qing is indeed deeply entangled in cognitive obstructions.” Monk Shi Yuan, fingering his prayer beads, pondered, ”Allow this humble monk some time to think about this.”

Before anyone else could ask a question, Xiao Xiao looked at Zheng Qing and started to explain, ”Your mind is very sensitive and easily influenced by various emotions emanating from the outside world.”

”Originally, this wasn’t a serious issue; many wizards even hope to have such a keen sensation.”

”But ever since the explosion in the school laboratory that day, your condition has become rather worse — more accurately, since your lost shadow returned — I wouldn’t say your personality has drastically changed, but in any case, your current state does give people a subtle feeling.”

”However, the situation hasn’t deteriorated to the point that it needs to be reported to the school for mandatory treatment... According to the book, in this situation, simple self-adjustment is more effective than going to see a therapist.”

”Conveniently, our knight group has a master who has done quite a bit of research in the area of mindset...” Upon saying this, Xiao Xiao lifted his eyelids, once again glancing at the young monk next to him.

”I’m embarrassed, really embarrassed.” Shi Yuan waved his hands repeatedly, hesitated for a moment and then added, ”Based on your previous descriptions and his current symptoms, it is most likely that a rush of short-term memories in and out of Student Zheng Qing’s mind has caused mental fragility, leading to cognitive disruption. He’s indeed not at a point of schizophrenia...”

Zheng Qing let out a dry chuckle.

Faced with two peers who seemed to be earnestly trying to solve his problem, he had to repeatedly suppress the anger that kept rising in his heart.

”How should I adjust myself?” He asked curtly.

”I happen to have a scripture here which is very suitable for this kind of symptom.” Shi Yuan took out a thin booklet from his bosom and handed it to Zheng Qing.

”The Maha-Prajna-Paramita-Hridaya Sutra?” Zheng Qing read the title of the sutra with a twisted tongue, it felt familiar somehow.

Then he casually flipped it open, only to find that the extremely thin book had very little content — only one page in total, with probably less than three hundred words.

”This scripture is the Heart Sutra of the Diamond Sutra. It was completed over two thousand years ago and was introduced to the East about eighteen hundred years ago. Initially, it was translated by Master Shan Qian of the Er family. The current version is said to be passed down to Master Xuanzang by Master Wu Chao during his journey to the West.”

”With only two hundred and sixty characters, the wording is simple but the meaning is rich. It is most capable of breaking cognitive obstructions, always chanting benefits the mind and body, can best tame the heart, cut off knowledge barriers, and understand emptiness and nature.”

Hearing Xiao Xiao and Shi Yuan’s alternating explanations, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but recite this scripture a few times. Whether it was psychological suggestion or not, after a few silent recitations, he suddenly felt a lightness in his spirit. Many of the troubles and worries that had been plaguing his mind seemed to have been blown away by the wind, significantly reduced.

Just as Zheng Qing felt relieved from the reading, the door of classroom 403 slammed open, and from a distance, a familiar voice started loudly shouting.

”So you guys are all here!”

”I’ve been looking for you for a long time...After class was dismissed, Amber said we could try our luck here, I didn’t expect we could actually run into you guys. As expected of our hunting team’s diviner.”

Andrew Taylor breezed in from the doorway, and the other hunters from the Serpentine Tail Hunting Team followed behind him.

The people from the Absolution Hunting Team who were previously seated together all stood up, eyeing these unexpected ’guests’ with caution.

”What do you need?” Zheng Qing put the scripture down, a bit annoyed.

”Don’t worry, don’t worry, I have no malice.” Andrew waved his thick arm, the ten bright magic rings on his fingers were dazzling.

When he got close, he looked at Zheng Qing and added with a smile, ”I just wanted to say hello to you... I originally thought Amber got it wrong this time, but I didn’t expect to actually run into you.”

Zheng Qing tilted his head, looking at this young master of the Taylor family, a trace of doubt in his eyes.

”If you were looking for us, you could have come to the classroom!” The young scholarship student spoke as calmly as he could, ”I’ve never missed a class, so there’s no reason you couldn’t find...”

”These past few days have been different.” Xiao Xiao suddenly interrupted, ”You’ve been entering the classroom only after the preparatory bell rings for the class, and then you disappeared right after the finishing bell... Andrew did actually try to find you a few times, but always just missed you.”

”Then you can go to the dormitory!” Zheng Qing raised an eyebrow.

”Without an invitation, strangers can’t enter our dormitory.” This time it was Xin Fat Man who spoke, he didn’t know when he had managed to find that bag of beef jerky again, crunching and munching on it.

”I’m more interested in the ability of Student Amber.” Xiao Xiao’s gaze slid past Andrew and landed on a yellow robe wizard behind him. ”In the school’s severe interference environment, you were actually able to accurately divine our location... That’s simply amazing.”
