Elderly Prince: My Spirit Increases by 1 Point Daily

Chapter 148: Chapter 147: Top Level Spirit Technique

The Jade Marrow Reishi hadn’t arrived yet, but a breakthrough in his Spiritual Power came first.

Two hundred and forty points of Spiritual Power swirled and spiraled within his Sea of Consciousness like a churning Star River.

Although he didn’t awaken a Companion Talent, an epiphany was a natural and unavoidable consequence.

For several days now, Xia Wuyang had felt his Soul Capturing Technique reaching a certain peak, and he could faintly sense it resonating with his Enchanting Heart Technique.

While the Soul Capturing Technique could control another’s Heart Spirit and trap them in an inescapable Illusion, it often fell short against those with strong Willpower.

It was also severely limited when probing the surface thoughts of others; it couldn’t delve any deeper.

The Enchanting Heart Technique was certainly effective at creating intricate Illusion Realms and confusing people’s minds, but its effects were not long-lasting. It was easy to see through and often alerted the target.

However, if the two techniques could complement each other, it would solve many of these problems and cause their combined might to soar.

Therefore, Xia Wuyang decided to focus this epiphany on the Soul Capturing Technique and the Enchanting Heart Technique, attempting to fuse them to see if he could succeed.

Even if he didn’t fully succeed, a good start would be valuable.

As the epiphany began, all sorts of insights flooded his mind, and he quickly became completely immersed.

’The essence of the Soul Capturing Technique’s control over the Heart Spirit... the principles behind the Enchanting Heart Technique’s bewilderment... the common root of both Secret Techniques... the subtle changes in Spiritual Power frequency... the link between the Soul and consciousness... the mystery of memory formation... I need to see the bigger picture, find the key to their fusion!’

At a certain moment, as if struck by inspiration, Xia Wuyang grasped the key. ’Soul Capturing and Heart Enchanting... they’re two sides of the same coin!’

It was a moment of pure enlightenment. He began to fuse the two techniques.

The controlling Power of the Soul Capturing Technique and the deceptive illusions of the Enchanting Heart Technique began to meld together. In that instant, the frequency of his Spiritual Power underwent a subtle change.

More importantly, he touched upon the esoteric connection between them at the Soul level. It was just a sliver of understanding, but it would be of immense help to his future Cultivation.

When the epiphany ended, a new Secret Technique had taken shape. Xia Wuyang was astonished; he never expected the gains from this epiphany to be so immense.

Soul Enchantment Technique!

A Top Level Spirit Art!

Due to their complementary nature, and because he had touched upon a trace of the Soul’s origin, he had actually managed to fuse them into a Top Level Spirit Art.

This Spirit Art possessed the strengths of both the Soul Capturing Technique and the Enchanting Heart Technique, and even had its own unique properties.

It could directly affect an enemy’s Soul, allowing for control through Illusions, the probing of deeper thoughts, and the bewilderment of their mind. The Illusion Realms it created were more durable and difficult to see through. It could even, to a certain extent, alter their memories and thoughts.

When used in conjunction with the Power of Illusions, the effects were even more remarkable.

Control, bewilderment, Illusion, reading minds... it encompassed a multitude of functions. Its ability to confuse minds and create Illusions was especially terrifying.

By bewildering minds and creating Illusions, he could make targets unknowingly expose their thoughts, alter their memories, and thereby exert indirect control over them.

Feeling the explosive increase in might from the fused Soul Enchantment Technique, a satisfied expression appeared on Xia Wuyang’s face.

After briefly consolidating and adapting to his new ability, he decided to test its effects.

With a flicker of thought, he quietly activated the Soul Enchantment Technique. His perception of the world around him instantly changed.

He could now easily perceive the surface thoughts of the Palace Attendants outside his Practice Room. He could delve much deeper than before and even observe multiple people simultaneously.

The movements of these Palace Attendants felt as if they were happening right before his eyes. More importantly, he could sense the fluctuations of each person’s Soul—a completely new experience for him.

He quietly left the Practice Room and pointed a finger at a Palace Maid outside the hall. The Palace Maid suddenly stopped in her tracks, her eyes glazing over. At this moment, she would be completely unaware of anything done to her.

Afterward, she wouldn’t even know that anything had happened.

A moment later, Xia Wuyang withdrew the Soul Enchantment Technique. The woman returned to normal and continued on her way as if nothing had happened, completely oblivious to the recent events.

He then found another Palace Maid and used the Soul Enchantment Technique to plunge her into an Illusion. Through that Illusion, he implanted a new memory into her mind.

He made her believe she had just been bitten by an insect. Sure enough, after he released the Soul Enchantment Technique, the woman couldn’t help but scratch the spot where she ”remembered” being bitten, believing it had actually happened.

’So the evolved Soul Enchantment Technique, when combined with an Illusion, really can alter memories.’

Xia Wuyang was inwardly shaken. This was far more potent than simply creating memories through Illusions. After all, those were just Illusions, not real, and not difficult to see through.

Once Xia Wuyang left and the Secret Technique’s Power dissipated, the target would gradually notice something was amiss.

But now it was different. Even after he withdrew the Soul Enchantment Technique, her perception remained altered; she still believed it had all truly happened.

The most pleasant surprise, of course, was its ability to probe deeper thoughts. He could even spy on the thoughts of those whose Cultivation Power surpassed his own.

Although he still couldn’t delve too deeply, it was a significant improvement.

Xia Wuyang then began to consider the combat applications of the Soul Enchantment Technique, so it wouldn’t be limited to a supporting role.

When facing a powerful enemy, he could use the Soul Enchantment Technique to Attack their Soul, causing a momentary lapse in their focus and creating an opening for him to strike.

During infiltration and reconnaissance missions, he could alter the memories of guards to ensure his passage was foolproof.

When dealing with spies and informants, he could implant false memories to mislead their hidden masters.

It could also be combined with his Spiritual Shackles, making his control more subtle and far more powerful than before.

Most importantly, because it was a Top Level Spirit Art that he himself had fused and created, it was already at the Realm of Perfection in his hands. Furthermore, it was tailor-made for him, allowing him to unleash one hundred and twenty percent of its power, far surpassing other Top Level Spirit Arts.

If not for the limitations of his own Cultivation, even an ordinary True Monarch would be powerless to resist him.

Even so, with his Extraordinary Level Spiritual Power, an ordinary True Monarch no longer posed much of a threat to him.

The creation of the Soul Enchantment Technique elevated Xia Wuyang’s overall strength by several levels. He could now easily control even a Super Grade Celestial Human.

Even if they had a Spirit Level treasure protecting their Sea of Consciousness, or possessed exceptionally strong Willpower, they would be unable to block his Soul Enchantment Technique.

Below the Extraordinary Level, almost no living creature could resist his Illusion Technique, unless they possessed a special treasure or some other unique talent—but the probability of that was minuscule.

More importantly, through the evolved Soul Enchantment Technique, he seemed to have faintly touched upon certain aspects of the Refining God Stage, which would certainly aid his future Cultivation.

He was now almost certain that more powerful Secret Techniques existed above Top Level Spirit Arts. This meant that there must be higher Cultivation stages beyond the Qi Refining Stage, though he did not yet know what they were.
