Elias’s POV

Once I’m sure mom won’t return to check on me, I’ll sneak out.

There’s a needle in my skin. Pulling it out would be easy, putting it back might prove difficult. Mother is meticulous. He’s exactly like me.

My ears twitch at the movement at the door.

Strawberry,

Fuck.

He’s here? Noah is here? I was going to sneak to my room just to look at his sleeping form. I didn’t imagine he would come for me instead.

I hear the hitch in his breath. Perceive the slight burning smell in his pheromones. And feel the hesitation in his movement.

He’s upset.

The omega takes a step in, and I shut my eyes.

Noah, my husband, is unpredictable. I need to know what he’d do next. I want to understand him.

Noah places his hands on my face, and I stiffen on the inside.

I hate being touched. But I don’t move. I don’t complain or show him I’m awake.

”Elias...” he says my name softly as he buries his fingers in my hair. The rigidity in my body disappears, and I find myself giving in to the omega’s softness.

His fingers leave my hair and move down my face.

The tip of his fingers trace my brows and my breathing slows. He moves his fingers over the bridge of my nose, down to my upper lip, and further down to my lower lip.

”I shouldn’t be here” he whispers and suddenly stops touching me.

I stiffen again without his touch. I don’t want him to take his hand off me. I want him to touch me.

Staying still, I strain my ears to listen to his movements. The omega groans softly and I can tell he’s kneeling by the bed.

Is he trying to hurt his ankle again?

”I’m sorry you got hurt, Elias. You’re too good looking to end up hurt like this” he says and sighs.

”You still have so much to see, so much to learn...” his voice cracks.

This omega must enjoy being dramatic.

He sniffles and sighs again.

”You’re a jerk but, you’re my jerk. you haven’t even tried the sixty-nine position with me and...” he whispers and a snort leaves my mouth without my permission.

”Sixty-nine sex positions?” I ask, opening my eyes in time to see Noah fall back on his ass.

The omega is sitting on the floor with his eyes wide open, lips parted and cheeks wet with tears.

”You’re awake?” he asks in horror and I get distracted by his face.

He’s a beautiful man. The kind you see in magazines and dub as too beautiful to be real.

”I wasn’t supposed to hear those words?” I ask and he opens his mouth to say something.

I already know what he’d say. He’s too proud and too pristine to say the painful truth. So, I’ll spare him the humiliation.

”Hmm” I hum.

”You shouldn’t have said them in my ear then, Angel” I say and he pulls himself up.

”Good to see you’re alive” he huffs, dusting invisible specks of sand off his ass.

He’s wearing my clothes. He has no idea how it makes me feel. I like it when what’s mine is dressed as mine.

”Since you’re here, you might as well stay” I say and shut my eyes before he could give a response.

If he chooses to walk out, I don’t want to see it. If he chooses to stay, then that’s fine. That’s perfect.

”Lucas asked me not to-” he starts.

Through his tone I know he wants to stay.

He wants to stay with me, but the good old Winslow boy wants to obey orders. He shouldn’t have started something he wasn’t ready to finish.

”Who are you married to?” I open my eyes to look at him. Noah biting down on his bottom lip. Even under the moonlight, his cheeks are that dusty pink.

”Who, Noah?” I ask.

”You” he answers softly and I nod.

”That’s right. You’re married to me. Now get in” I order, and he climbs into the bed with me.

My mother will kill us both in the morning. But I need Noah by my side for a few hours. I might go crazy if I don’t have him here.

”This is so weird” he murmurs as he moves closer to me. He relaxes when he’s close enough and I hide my smile by turning my head away.

I’m smiling. I’m thinking too much about him. I’m calculating less. And I’m becoming emotional. He’s melting my brain and the security walls I set up.

”What is weird?” I ask, subtly moving closer to feel his warmth.

”How much I miss you is weird” he says and my heart does that funny thing again. It skips a beat, and I think I might need a cardiologist.

”That’s strange” I mutter as if I don’t miss him even more.

”But I think it’s ’cause I spend too much time with you” he says with a yawn and tucks himself into my side. I grind my molars in pain as his elbow jabs my ribs.

”So, you care about me” I say through my teeth and he doesn’t respond.

The silence is a no.

”You care for Roman?” I try asking again as I turn my neck to look at him. And instead of finding him awake, I find him asleep with his lips pressed together.

My eyes take their time to look at the face I miss.

He’s innocent and filthy at the same time. Only Noah can have the face of an angel and ask for sixty-nine sex positions at midnight.

He’s as odd as I am.

I pull the blanket off my body and use my free hand to throw it over the omega. I’m his alpha, and it’s my duty to look after him.

Something moves me forward and I press a kiss on his forehead. Although it’s something dad does to mom all the time, the action is foreign and strange to me.

I let out a sigh and drop my head back on the pillow.

Should I...forget the cherry blossom boy?
