My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Chapter 503: Chapter 501: Treating Lou Dao Yuan

Mu Lin turned his head and said, “Shopkeeper Su, get these herbs for me. I have a use for them.”

Shopkeeper Su took the prescription and went downstairs without a second thought. Filling prescriptions was a basic part of the pharmacy’s business, something he had done for countless years. It wasn’t long before he returned with a basket of herbs.

Mu Lin got up and started walking out, carrying the basket.

“Divine Doctor Mu, where are you going?!” Lou Dao Yuan exclaimed in alarm.

“Where do you think?” Mu Lin’s expression was cold; he had no patience for Lou Dao Yuan. ‘He’s really hit a new low.’

Lou Dao Yuan’s injuries were incredibly severe, beyond the help of conventional medicine. They could only be treated with Fang Qing True Qi, but Mu Lin would never reveal something so important in front of him.

But mixing the Fang Qing True Qi into a pill wouldn’t be a problem.

If asked, he’d just say it was a secret formula.

Mu Lin simply mixed the herbs and concentrated the dense Fang Qing True Qi within them.

He placed the pill into a porcelain vial, put it away, and returned to the room. “Take off your clothes.”

“Wh-what for?” Lou Dao Yuan jumped up like a startled rabbit.

“To clear your meridians. It’s hard work. Just say whether you want it done or not!”

Terrified, Lou Dao Yuan immediately tore off his blood-soaked outer robe and prostrated himself on the floor.

Mu Lin raised a needle and pierced Lou Dao Yuan’s skin. The Profound Thunder True Qi began to boil, rushing straight toward Lou Dao Yuan’s withered Dantian.

Lou Dao Yuan’s whole body trembled violently. The pain was no less than being dragged through Purgatory. He was powerless to resist, able only to endure as the ruthless energy surged and churned within him.

‘Pain. It was too painful.’ He suddenly felt the urge to vomit. With a GAG, he spewed blood all over the floor, and a fleshy ball came out of his mouth.

Lou Dao Yuan’s expression eased considerably. The pain lessened in an instant. Though his strength hadn’t returned, he at least felt a sense of stillness.

Lou Dao Yuan scooted closer and asked nervously, “Divine Doctor Mu, what is this? I don’t remember ever eating such a strange thing.”

Mu Lin tossed the porcelain vial to Lou Dao Yuan. “Take this first. We’ll talk about the rest later.”

Lou Dao Yuan tipped the pill out and thought it looked incredibly crude. Even the strongman pills sold by the overpass looked much better than this.

But he had no other choice. He could only trust Mu Lin.

A moment after he swallowed it…

“Hmm?!”

The moment the pill entered his stomach, a stream of pure energy flowed into his Dantian. He felt the strength returning to his entire body, and his withered Dantian was suddenly full of life and vitality.

He was ecstatic, clapping his hands and cheering, “I’m healed! That was so fast!”

Overcome with joy, he truly began to see Mu Lin as his savior. With a THUD, he fell to his knees.

“Divine Doctor Mu, before, I thought of myself as an Immortal and stopped seeing myself as a person. I am so sorry. I hope you can forgive me!”

The moment he finished speaking, he began kowtowing desperately, his head thudding wildly against the floor. DONG DONG DONG.

Mu Lin winced, feeling sorry for the floor. ‘A Martial Artist’s head is so hard; no matter how tough the floor is, it can’t take that kind of abuse!’

President Su and Elder Mo watched this scene, stunned speechless. ‘Is this still Lou Dao Yuan? He used to be so incredible!’

Mu Lin was also taken aback by such a violent apology. It took him a few seconds to recover before saying, “Elder Lou, please get up.”

Lou Dao Yuan said earnestly, “Divine Doctor Mu, you saved my life and preserved my cultivation. You are truly my savior. Nothing I do could ever repay your kindness.”

“From this day forward, my life belongs to you, Divine Doctor Mu! If you told me to die right now, I wouldn’t even frown!”

Mu Lin’s expression was strange. Just like that, he had somehow gained an Immortal as a fighter.

“Elder Lou, you’re going too far! I didn’t do much.”

“Don’t doubt me, I’m completely serious!” Lou Dao Yuan’s face was resolute, making it clear he wouldn’t get up unless Mu Lin agreed.

“If you don’t accept my pledge, I’ll just stay here. Wherever you go, I’ll follow.”

Mu Lin had never seen such a display, especially from an Immortal acting like a child throwing a tantrum. “Fine, I accept.”

Only then did Lou Dao Yuan gracefully rise to his feet and ask eagerly, “Divine Doctor Mu, what was that thing I just coughed up?”

Mu Lin didn’t answer directly, as if still hesitating about something. Finally, he seemed to give up on his thoughts and said, “If I had to give it a name, it would be the ‘Ascension Pill’.”

“The so-called Ascension Pill is the final product of the ‘Immortal Destruction Pill.’ The effect of the Immortal Destruction Pill is that after taking it, the body’s injuries heal in an instant, and one’s internal energy is pushed to its peak.”

“However, this state doesn’t last long. The cultivation then declines from its peak, and the True Qi, Qi and Blood, and blood essence are condensed into a single mass by the pill’s power, forming the ‘Ascension Pill’.”

“The person who took the pill is then left a complete cripple, utterly powerless.”

Lou Dao Yuan remembered that his own apprentice had given this to him! His surprise gave way to utter disappointment. He cried out, “So what my apprentice gave me wasn’t an antidote, but a poison to destroy my cultivation?”

Mu Lin nodded slowly. He had understood the whole story the moment he first saw Lou Dao Yuan.

Lou Dao Yuan’s eyes grew dark. He asked, “So his next step was probably to kill me and take the pill, right? What are the effects of this Ascension Pill?”

Mu Lin pursed his lips. He really didn’t want to say something so cruel, so he just explained simply, “For a Land Immortal, it can increase their cultivation. It’s pretty average.”

“However, if someone at the Innate Divine Realm takes it, they can immediately break through their bottleneck and become a Land Immortal.”

Lou Dao Yuan collapsed back against the floor, utterly dejected and looking as if he might fall apart at any moment.

The thought that he had almost died at the hands of a traitor only made him more grateful to Mu Lin and Mo Cangsong.

Mo Cangsong’s efforts had at least given him one last chance.

He was also overcome with shame, wanting nothing more than to find a hole to hide in. ‘So embarrassing!’

Mu Lin paused for a moment. “I didn’t want to say this, but since we’re on the topic, I might as well be blunt. If your apprentice really wanted to use you as a stepping stone to become a Land Immortal, then your injury from a few years ago might not have been an accident.”

“But that has nothing to do with me. You can judge for yourself.”

Lou Dao Yuan said respectfully, “Thank you for your concern, Divine Doctor Mu. I suspect the truth is exactly as you’ve said. I am truly grateful, endlessly so!”

Seeing that matters had settled, Shopkeeper Su approached Mu Lin, looking a little anxious.

“Mr. Mu, I have a difficult situation and was hoping you could help. What do you think?”

‘Well, I’m already here, might as well see this through,’ Mu Lin thought, nodding. “President Su, please speak freely.”

Shopkeeper Su wrung his hands, choosing his words carefully before speaking. “Mr. Mu, do you know which is the largest pharmaceutical group in Di Yang?”

Mu Lin had never paid attention to such things. Shopkeeper Su said, “Mingyang Pharmaceutical! And the Profound Secret Herb Shop is one of Mingyang Pharmaceutical’s properties.”

“Is that so? Then you’ve got a pretty solid brand backing you, huh?”

Shopkeeper Su waved his hand dismissively. “We just earn an honest wage! It’s hard to get truly rich. A few days ago, an executive from Mingyang Pharmaceutical fell ill. They’ve searched all over Di Yang for a famous doctor, but nothing has worked.”

“The higher-ups gave me an order: I have to find a doctor to cure this executive.”

Shopkeeper Su gave a bitter smile. “My backer has been running into some trouble recently and can’t watch out for me. Plus, the Profound Secret Herb Shop is quite profitable, and a lot of people are jealous.”

“They deliberately set this trap for me. If I can’t cure that executive, I’ll have to hand over the Profound Secret Herb Shop.”

Shopkeeper Su lowered his head. This matter had truly tormented him; just thinking about it gave him a headache.

Mo Cangsong chimed in from the side, “Divine Doctor Mu, I beg you, please help President Su! Mingyang Pharmaceutical has become completely profit-driven and has done many unconscionable things.”

“They’re always pressuring President Su to use inferior goods to pass for high-quality ones to increase profits.”

“But President Su has gritted his teeth and firmly refused. There aren’t many good people like him left in this world!”

Mu Lin raised an eyebrow, his expression grave. “Isn’t that going too far? But wouldn’t using inferior medicine get people killed? Causing trouble isn’t easy these days! If something went wrong, wouldn’t they be finished in minutes? A big name like Mingyang Pharmaceutical wouldn’t risk paying the price for something like that, would they?”

Shopkeeper Su’s expression turned grim. “Mr. Mu, public morals are in decline! They’ll do anything for money. Using inferior herbs won’t kill anyone. At worst, the effects are just a little weaker. Nothing serious will come of it.”

“Besides, even if someone did die, it would be impossible to prove our medicine was the cause.”

“Mingyang Pharmaceutical has a very powerful legal team. They’re masters of obfuscation and making frivolous arguments. A patient could never win against them.”

A murderous glint appeared in Mu Lin’s eyes. He said coldly, “How outrageous.”

Mo Cangsong said gravely, “That’s why you absolutely must cure that executive! If President Su is forced out, then from now on, the people of Di Yang and even the entire Nanjiang Province will be eating this kind of inferior medicine!”
