My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Mu Lin walked in. The female cashier, bored, looked him over curiously.

Mu Lin gave her a smile and went upstairs.

”Elder Mo, President Su, just be patient. He won’t be able to hold on for much longer. When the time comes, you can teach him a lesson however you see fit.”

Shopkeeper Su was alarmed. ”Mr. Mu, are you serious? You’re not joking, are you??”

Mu Lin said, ”What’s the point of a war of words? Actions speak louder than words. His condition has indeed improved, but it won’t last long.”

Mo Cangsong was uneasy, not understanding what Mu Lin was saying. ”Mr. Mu, what do you mean? Does this mean the treatment isn’t working?”

Mu Lin nodded and said, ”It’s not just that it isn’t working—it will lead to an extremely grave disaster. I believe his trusted, dear disciple has been plotting this for a long time, just waiting for this move. If we hadn’t come, a heartbreaking tragedy would have been next.”

Mo Cangsong and Shopkeeper Su were stunned. The implication in Mu Lin’s words was all too clear. Lou Dao Yuan’s disciple was intentionally harming him?

”Mr. Mu, is that what you mean? That’s too bizarre! How could such a person exist in this world?”

Mu Lin didn’t elaborate. Instead, he asked Manager Su to make him some tea. They all drank tea and chatted, almost forgetting the matter entirely.

Lou Dao Yuan had thrown Mu Lin and the others out, but the fire in his heart wouldn’t die down. In the next moment, he sat down cross-legged to cultivate.

He had been injured for many years. His meridians had never been properly cleared, obstructing the flow of his energy and causing his cultivation to stagnate.

Now that his injuries were completely healed, he had to quickly prepare new offensive techniques. Otherwise, he would be a lamb waiting for slaughter when facing his enemies.

”Hmph, that little punk thinks he can scare me? What does he know! I am a magnificent Land Immortal! My body’s condition is completely under my control!”

Lou Dao Yuan laughed contemptuously and immersed himself in a meditative state, no longer thinking about Mu Lin and the others.

Two hours passed in a flash. Lou Dao Yuan’s cultivation had been going smoothly the entire time, and he couldn’t help but scoff, ”He was bluffing, after all.”

Suddenly, Lou Dao Yuan felt something was wrong. His eyes widened in suspicion.

’What on earth is happening to me?’ he wondered. The strange sensation had come on with incredible speed.

’Something is very wrong,’ Lou Dao Yuan thought. He hurriedly scanned the meridians throughout his body. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his hand, and the skin and flesh tore open, a bloody mess.

A meridian in his left arm had burst! The blood vessels had ruptured along with it. It was a truly miserable sight—his entire arm was a mangled ruin of flesh and blood.

Lou Dao Yuan couldn’t bear this turn of events. He had clearly been cured, so why was he injured again??

Lou Dao Yuan was panicking. Watching his own meridians tear apart one by one was a scene straight out of a horror movie!

His aura plummeted like water draining from a punctured tank, scaring the color from his face.

Unable to endure it any longer, he burst out the door and rushed toward the Profound Secret Herb Shop.

Meanwhile, at the herb shop, two pots of tea had been finished, and Mu Lin had even gone downstairs to browse the shop for a bit.

Looking at the time, Mu Lin smiled at Mo Cangsong. ”Elder Mo, have you decided how you’re going to teach Lou Dao Yuan a lesson?”

Mo Cangsong didn’t have that kind of courage. He gave a bitter smile. ”Divine Doctor Mu, please don’t joke. This matter has already gotten out of hand today... We should probably go apologize to Luo Xianren...”

Seeing this, Mu Lin gently shook his head and said no more. Lou Dao Yuan had been a Land Immortal for many years and had built up a great deal of authority. It was only normal for Mo Cangsong to be afraid of him.

Mu Lin looked at the two of them and suddenly smiled, startling them.

”Lou Dao Yuan is here. Would you two like to go down and see?”

Mu Lin had just spoken when a pharmacy assistant who had been fetching herbs rushed in. ”President Su, someone covered in blood just burst in downstairs! He says he wants to see Divine Doctor Mu.”

When Shopkeeper Su and Mo Cangsong heard this, a cold sweat suddenly soaked their backs!

”Divine Doctor Mu...” Mo Cangsong looked at Mu Lin, sweating profusely. ”Is it him? What should I do?”

Mu Lin held his teacup and studied Mo Cangsong, who immediately felt as if he were sitting on pins and needles, caught between a rock and a hard place.

It was an awful feeling.

’But he’s a senior who once did me a great favor!’ He quickly stood up, intending to go downstairs to greet him.

But Shopkeeper Su stopped him. ”Elder Mo, if you go down now, you’ll be letting that bastard off too easily, won’t you? Think about how he cursed you and Divine Doctor Mu!”

Mo Cangsong looked hesitant. ”It’s not that I’m not angry! But he’s an Immortal, after all... It’s never good to truly anger him.”

But Shopkeeper Su had a clear head. He said seriously, ”So what if he’s an Immortal? Right now, he’s the one begging Mr. Mu for help. If he dares to retaliate, does he still want to live?”

Mo Cangsong thought about it carefully and had an epiphany. Shopkeeper Su saw things more clearly. He turned to Mu Lin. ”Divine Doctor Mu, what do you think is best?”

Mu Lin said, ”You two decide. You invited me here. I’m only responsible for treating him. The judgment call is all yours.”

A surge of courage rose in Mo Cangsong’s heart. Suddenly, Lou Dao Yuan didn’t seem so terrifying anymore.

Mo Cangsong looked at the pharmacy assistant who had brought the news. ”Let him come up on his own.”

”I don’t think he can walk. He’s dragging himself forward by writhing his body. It’s... a nasty sight... It looks like both of his legs are broken...”

Mo Cangsong and Shopkeeper Su exchanged a glance. Mu Lin had been right, and the condition had progressed to a point where intervention was absolutely necessary!

If they delayed any longer, he would probably be crippled for life.

Mu Lin wouldn’t even need to teach him a lesson; the enemies Lou Dao Yuan made in his youth would be able to tear him to shreds.

”If he can’t walk, then have him crawl up here. Let him think about whether he’s in any position to bargain!”

Mo Cangsong waved his hand. He was furious after being cursed at, but since Lou Dao Yuan was a Land Immortal, he was no match for him. Now, with Mu Lin backing him, his confidence had grown considerably.

Shopkeeper Su had never seen such a scene. A Land Immortal crawling into a room was a first. He couldn’t have been more thrilled. ”Serves him right! Who told him to be so arrogant before!”

He was incredibly grateful to Mu Lin. This was the first time he had ever been able to turn the tables on Lou Dao Yuan.

Then, they heard a series of thuds from outside—the sound of flesh hitting the floor.

It made them uncomfortable to listen to.

Lou Dao Yuan crawled in, covered in blood, his face gaunt and sallow. All traces of his former pride were gone.

The greater his past glory, the more wretched he appeared now.

When Lou Dao Yuan saw Mu Lin, he felt as if hope for survival was right in front of him, and his eyes lit up.

”Divine Doctor Mu... I’m begging you, save me!”

Lou Dao Yuan used all his strength to move closer to Mu Lin, but Mu Lin simply stepped away.

”You seem to be begging the wrong person. Think again. Who did you truly offend? Who has been taking care of you all these years?”

How could Lou Dao Yuan not understand Mu Lin’s intention? He turned with difficulty to look at Mo Cangsong and Shopkeeper Su.

Turning his head wasn’t difficult, but overcoming the demon in his heart was the real struggle.

’I am an Immortal. They are nothing but ants...’

Though it was humiliating and hard to accept, his life was far more important than his dignity. ”I’m sorry, I was wrong!”

”I hope you can forgive me. Let’s put the past behind us and...”

Mu Lin tilted his head, clearly unsatisfied.

”You call that an apology? I could find a myna bird that sounds more sincere than you.”

Rage shot through Lou Dao Yuan. ’A warrior can be killed but not humiliated,’ he thought. ’I might as well take Mu Lin down with me.’

But at this moment, his Inner Strength was almost completely gone. How could he possibly have the capital to fight Mu Lin?

He could only grit his teeth, force himself to endure, and rephrase his question:

”Then how should I apologize!”

To be honest, for decades, he had been an unparalleled talent. Others had always been the ones begging him to act; he had never been on the receiving end of such treatment.

Because of this, he truly had no idea what to do.

Mu Lin scoffed. ”A magnificent Immortal who doesn’t even know how to apologize. What’s the point of all that cultivation? You might as well just die!”

Lou Dao Yuan didn’t want to die. He quickly shouted, ”I get it, I get it!”

He struggled to crawl towards Mo Cangsong and said, ”Grandmaster Mo, I implore you to forgive that bullshit I said. When I was down on my luck, you helped me search everywhere for a famous doctor. I should have been grateful to you!”

”I’m willing to give you a billion in compensation! I beg you to forgive me and put in a good word for me with Mr. Mu!”

Mo Cangsong was filled with emotion. Lou Dao Yuan had once been an unrivaled figure, yet who could have known he would end up like this.

But he didn’t dare make a decision on his own. After all, he wasn’t the only one Lou Dao Yuan had humiliated:

”That depends on what Shopkeeper Su thinks of you!”

Lou Dao Yuan immediately crawled towards Shopkeeper Su, his attitude even more sincere than before. Shopkeeper Su was flattered and hastily agreed.

Mu Lin figured that was about enough. There was no need to torment him any further.
