My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Mu Lin placed his hand on the saleswoman’s wrist.

The saleswoman blushed. She wasn’t used to men touching her hand!

But then she saw the two stunningly beautiful women next to Mu Lin. ’Compared to them, someone like me probably wouldn’t even catch his eye.’

Mu Lin scanned the saleswoman’s entire body with his divine sense. The sinister poison within her was completely gone.

He then transferred some True Qi into her, helping to stimulate her stagnant Qi and Blood.

In an instant, the saleswoman felt a sense of clarity flow through her entire body. The groggy feeling vanished.

”What a strange feeling.”

The saleswoman saw the black aura floating in the air and asked, ”What is that?”

Mu Lin said, ”It’s a technique the villain left in your body. It allows him to control your words and actions. You were under his control when you poisoned them yesterday.”

Hearing the word ”poisoned,” the saleswoman’s face turned pale. ”What?! Then does that mean I... I’m so sorry, so sorry!”

She stood up and bowed deeply to Lin Shishi and Hong Rui, filled with guilt. Her earnest expression made it seem as if she had committed some terrible disaster.

Lin Shishi quickly comforted her, taking out a tissue to wipe her face.

Mu Lin added, ”You were the one being controlled. There’s no need to apologize.”

”The real villain is its master,” Mu Lin said, pointing to the ball of black qi.

He took out a small, brown glass bottle, sealed the black qi inside, and put on the cap.

Then, he took out a piece of talisman paper and stuck it on the cap, sealing the black qi completely.

The women were all frightened. To think such methods actually existed.

’Wasn’t this something straight out of a movie?’

Lin Shishi stepped forward and said kindly to the young woman, ”You’re safe now. We’re good people, we won’t hurt you.”

The young woman nodded repeatedly. She truly didn’t sense any dangerous aura from the three of them.

”My name is Lin Shishi. What’s yours?”

”I’m Wang Fang!”

”It’s nice to meet you. This is my little sister, Hong Rui, and this is my boyfriend, Mu Lin!”

Mu Lin shot Lin Shishi a strange glance. ’She’s really running with this, isn’t she?’

But Lin Shishi looked perfectly calm, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

”Sister Wang, have you met anyone suspicious recently? Someone trying to get close to you or anything?”

Wang Fang shook her head. ”No, I don’t think so...”

Mu Lin knew they wouldn’t get much from this line of questioning. An ordinary person’s memory wasn’t that reliable for such things.

Mu Lin scribbled a list of medicinal herbs on a notepad. ”Miss Lin, please take this to a pharmacy and have them brew it into a liquid for Miss Wang to take.”

Lin Shishi said, ”I understand! Should I wait there for it?”

Mu Lin said, ”No need. Just have the pharmacy deliver it.”

”Miss Wang, don’t worry, I’ll take care of the cost. Just focus on getting better.”

Wang Fang grew a little anxious. She wasn’t used to being indebted to others.

Mu Lin smiled. ”Actually, you’ve helped me a great deal. I’m investigating that person, and this ball of black qi is the most important clue. Without it, I would have wasted a lot of time. You’ve saved me a huge amount of effort.”

Wang Fang slowly nodded and smiled. ”I’m so glad I could help.”

When Lin Shishi returned, Mu Lin announced it was time to leave.

At the door, Lin Shishi asked Mu Lin, ”Mu Lin, what’s your plan now?”

Without any hesitation, Mu Lin replied, ”To hunt the person down, of course. If we let someone like that run free, he’ll only cause more harm to the public.”

Lin Shishi thought that made sense, but the mere thought of it made her scalp tingle. How could they possibly find someone in such a huge place? Searching blindly would run them ragged.

But the thought of how many other potential ordinary people were being threatened immediately invigorated her.

”Do you have a plan?”

Mu Lin wasn’t worried at all. He smiled and said, ”Of course I have a plan. But maybe you two should head back first? Things might get dangerous.”

Lin Shishi and Hong Rui looked at each other and quickly shook their heads.

”No way. What if someone tries to ambush us?”

They were genuinely terrified.

Mu Lin sighed. They had a point. Compared to the potential danger ahead, they would be in even more danger if they left his side.

”Alright then, stick close to me. I won’t let the person who poisoned you get away.”

Mu Lin led them out of Wang Fang’s home and to a nearby open area.

He took out the brown glass bottle. With a twist of his hand, the cap popped off.

A light glowed from Mu Lin’s hand. Mysterious runes flowed into the black qi, and in an instant, the black qi shot off in a specific direction.

Mu Lin’s eyes lit up. ”Follow me!”

Hong Rui’s eyes widened in amazement. ”Brother Mu, that’s incredible! Is that a magic trick?”

Mu Lin explained as they walked, ”It’s not a magic trick. It’s a Daoist Tracking Magic.”

Lin Shishi was stunned. ”Something so advanced? Are you from a Daoist sect?”

Mu Lin shook his head. ”Why does knowing a Daoist magic mean I have to be from a Daoist sect? That doesn’t make any sense!”

Lin Shishi pouted. ”Then how do you know it?”

”My master taught me!”

”Then is your master a member of a Daoist sect?”

”Nope.”

The two chatted idly.

The conversation was rather pointless, but it helped pass the time during the tedious pursuit.

In the end, Lin Shishi still couldn’t figure out Mu Lin’s background.

They followed the black qi for hours. By the time they arrived at a manor on the outskirts of Songyang, Lin Shishi’s legs were aching.

Mu Lin frowned. ’A rich family? To think they would stoop to such despicable acts. Have they no conscience?’

Lin Shishi sighed, but there was nothing to be done. ”Not all prominent families are as upright and honorable as the Lin Family.”

She didn’t forget to praise her own family.

Mu Lin didn’t respond. His good relationship with the Lin Family was purely because he had saved Lin Tian’s life.

If they hadn’t known each other, things wouldn’t have been so simple.

Lin Shishi walked to the main gate and stepped aside to clear the view. Mu Lin saw the sign leading to the estate.

”This is... the Bai Family?”

Mu Lin was stunned. This manor was actually the Bai Family’s ancestral estate.

’Could it really be the Bai Family who poisoned Hong Rui and Lin Shishi? Would they really stoop so low?’

If that was the case, he wouldn’t let the Bai Family off.

’Even if Zhao Yang found out, he would probably support me.’

Lin Shishi’s expression was also exceptionally grave. ”This is the Songyang Bai Family... Was it the Bai Family who harmed me? But why would they? We don’t have any grudges against them, do we?”

Mu Lin didn’t know. Countless thoughts flickered through his mind.

Suddenly, a muffled THUD echoed from within the manor. It was an unnatural sound, not one you would hear in a normal place.

Mu Lin’s expression changed drastically. ”What’s going on?”

”I’m going in first! You two find your own way in!”

With that, he charged straight at the gate emblazoned with the words ”Bai Manor” and smashed into it heavily.

The gate shattered on impact, making Lin Shishi and Hong Rui’s hearts leap into their throats.

’He’s so strong...’ Hong Rui watched with her jaw agape.

Mu Lin moved like a flash, instantly disappearing deep into the manor.

As he ran, his expression grew grim. As far as he could see, there were bodies everywhere.

Some were severely wounded but not yet dead, though it was close.

’What on earth happened?’

Finally, deep inside, he saw the culprit.

An old man in a grayish-blue robe stood amidst a pile of corpses, gripping someone in his hand.

The wisp of black qi flew naturally into the old man’s body, proving without a doubt that he was the mastermind.

”The Tracing Technique. I can’t believe you know it!” A flicker of surprise flashed in the old man’s eyes.

”You’re from a Daoist sect!”

”No! But that won’t stop me from killing you!”

Mu Lin’s face was ashen. He was finally feeling a surge of real anger.

”How do you know me?” Mu Lin thought, ’I’ve never seen this person before, so how could he know me?’

”Of course I know you. I’m very familiar with you!” the old man said coldly. ”I was planning to cooperate with Su Longfei, but you, you meddling brat, went and killed him.”

”Do you have any idea how much trouble you’ve caused me?”

Mu Lin spat coldly. ”What do I care how much trouble I’ve caused you? It has nothing to do with me! You were committing evil deeds, and that’s something heaven itself won’t tolerate!”

He spoke with such righteousness that anyone who heard him would agree. The old man was just a grandstanding clown.

The old man’s face was filled with displeasure, his sinister gaze growing even more venomous than before.

”You’ve walked right into your own grave today. In that case, I’ll just kill you right here and now!”
