My Most Beautiful Fiancée

The young woman’s eyes were so swollen they bulged like a frog’s.

Mu Lin found it comical but forced himself not to laugh.

Tang Shuang was a natural beauty. How else could she have caught the eye of Young Master Zhong?

But now, with her eyes in this state, what could one even say?

Tang Shuang asked, ”Brother, who is this?”

Tang Zhi smiled. ”This is the doctor I found for you!”

Tang Shuang’s mouth fell open. She looked Mu Lin up and down, her confusion mounting.

’He’s so young, about my own age, yet my brother looks at him with such reverence, claiming he can heal my injury.’

’Heh. It’s not like she was naive. Tang Shuang knew perfectly well how difficult her injury would be to treat.’

Not wanting her brother to lose face, Tang Shuang forced a smile and said to Mu Lin, ”I think I’m fine. I don’t need any treatment.”

Tang Zhi’s expression changed. He knew how much pain his sister had been in since her leg was injured. Now that he’d brought a doctor, why was she refusing?

”Sister, what are you saying? Do you have any idea how much trouble I went through to get a renowned doctor to come here?”

’Tang Shuang felt deeply wronged. ’I’m just trying to look out for him! I can’t believe he doesn’t appreciate it. He’s being scammed and is still practically counting the money for this Jianghu quack, Mu Lin.’’

Mu Lin placed a hand on Tang Zhi’s shoulder, which seemed to help him regain some of his composure.

’My sister’s injured. How can I speak to her so harshly?’

”But Brother Mu, this...”

Mu Lin smiled faintly. ”Don’t worry. I have a way.”

He gently pushed Tang Zhi back and walked over to Tang Shuang. ”Miss Tang,” he said calmly, ”I know you don’t trust me. You see how young I am and worry I don’t have any real skills, isn’t that right?”

Tang Shuang opened her mouth, then closed it, and finally nodded. ”Yes.”

Hearing this, Tang Zhi grew anxious. ’Mu Lin must be angry now.’

But Mu Lin wasn’t. He continued, ”Just let me try. If it doesn’t work, I’ll let Brother Tang do with me as he sees fit.”

Tang Shuang’s expression was grim. Mu Lin had spoken to such an extent that there was no room for her to refuse.

’Otherwise, I’m afraid I’ll break my brother’s heart.’

Seeing no other choice, she could only nod.

Mu Lin reached into his pocket and took out a pouch of silver needles, each one nearly twenty centimeters long.

Cold sweat beaded on Tang Shuang’s brow as she looked on, panic seizing her heart.

’In her opinion, all that so-called yin and yang and five elements of Chinese medicine was fake. She never bothered with the traditional medicine department at the hospital.’

’And Mu Lin is so young, he probably isn’t even a competent con artist. My life is probably going to end in his hands.’

’She started to resent her brother. What is wrong with him? Why on earth would he bring me a Jianghu quack?’

’If he fails to cure me, we’ll see if I don’t call the Government to have him arrested.’

Mu Lin had Tang Shuang lie flat, then stared intently at her legs, making her skin crawl.

’He’s not a pervert, is he? What on earth is going through his mind?’

She began to panic.

But Mu Lin was oblivious to her thoughts. He selected a spot with a silver needle and inserted it.

”Miss Tang, do you feel anything?”

”No!”

”Do you feel anything?”

”No!”

Tang Shuang deliberately pretended not to feel anything, hoping to see Mu Lin make a fool of himself.

After a moment’s thought, Mu Lin put away the silver needle. ”I see. Now I understand your problem.”

’You couldn’t even handle that, and you ’understand’?’ Tang Shuang thought. ’Understand what?’

’I’ll have you eating prison food before you know it!’

As Tang Shuang stewed in her thoughts, she kept her eyes fixed on Mu Lin.

Mu Lin suddenly spoke. ”Miss Tang, you’ve been crying quite a bit, haven’t you? Look, your eyes are all swollen. Let me massage them for you; it should help reduce the swelling.”

Tang Shuang was about to say there was no need, but Mu Lin’s hands were already near her eyes.

After a brief massage, Mu Lin pulled his hands away.

Tang Shuang was furious. Just as she was about to lash out and rebuke Mu Lin for his presumption, Tang Zhi cried out in excitement.

”Sister, your eyes are better!”

’How could it be so miraculous?’ she thought, pulling out a mirror to look.

’It really was true. Before, her eyes were swollen like a frog’s, but now they were completely clear.’

’I can’t believe it worked so well.’

Mu Lin sat down, took out a piece of paper, wrote a prescription, and handed it to Tang Zhi. ”Brother Tang, buy all these herbs. We’ll need them for the next stage of treatment.”

Tang Zhi, who had absolute faith in Mu Lin, took the prescription and hurried out.

Now, only Mu Lin and Tang Shuang remained.

Mu Lin said, ”Miss Tang, I’d like to begin your treatment. May I see your injured leg?”

”My injured leg is hideous, it’s disgusting. Can you even stand to look at it?”

Mu Lin replied, ”I’m a doctor. As long as a patient is in pain, no matter how gruesome the injury, it’s my duty to see it immediately!”

Tang Shuang was left speechless by his words and could only obediently allow Mu Lin to examine her.

She extended her injured leg toward Mu Lin.

Mu Lin gently unwrapped the gauze covering the injury, finally revealing the full extent of the damage.

’Such cruel methods.’

Mu Lin clenched his jaw. ’I can’t show any emotion in front of the patient.’

”Miss Tang, with an injury this severe, which doctors have you seen?”

Tang Shuang said, ”The orthopedic specialists at the City Hospital. They said it’s a comminuted fracture, and whether it can heal is completely up to luck!”

”Another doctor recommended amputation, but I refused.”

Mu Lin said, ”Amputation is a good option. Why didn’t you do it?”

”A good option?!” Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Tang Shuang was furious.

’She had no idea what was wrong with this idiot.’

”But that’s not necessary now. With me here, I can help you make a full recovery.”

As he spoke, Mu Lin pressed his finger on a spot. With a surge of force, a large amount of dark blood gushed from the wound.

Tang Shuang cried out in agony, letting out a sharp scream.

Mu Lin said quickly, ”Oh, I’m sorry! I thought your leg was completely numb, so I didn’t use any anesthetic techniques.”

He took out a few needles and inserted them steadily into Tang Shuang’s thigh.

’Just more hocus pocus,’ Tang Shuang thought with a pout.

After making his preparations, Mu Lin resumed his action, pressing down hard.

A large amount of dark blood gushed from the wound.

Mu Lin grabbed a few tissues and wiped away the dark blood.

”Left untreated for so long, the blood has stagnated and become toxic. It’s very likely to spread throughout your body. If it had continued, amputation might have been your best option.”

”So, those doctors weren’t wrong.”

Mu Lin commented calmly on the doctors who had seen Tang Shuang:

”The doctors here in Songyang are quite competent.”

A dark expression fell over Tang Shuang’s face.

’What is he even doing?’

”These spots must be agony, right? The clotted blood is eating away at your nerves like a living thing. I imagine you haven’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time.”

Tang Shuang was stunned to hear this. He had described her situation perfectly.

Ever since the attack, she hadn’t been able to sleep, not only out of fear, but also because of the worsening pain from the clotted blood.

During those long, torturous nights, all she could do was cry herself to sleep, which naturally led to all these other problems.

’It all made sense, when she thought about it.’

Tang Shuang was astonished. She never would have imagined that Mu Lin actually possessed such impressive skills.

’And to think she had dismissed him as a Jianghu quack.’

’It was clear now that Mu Lin was her only hope.’

Mu Lin smiled. ”Don’t worry. Didn’t I tell you? I won’t let you get your leg amputated for no reason. My method doesn’t require it.”

Mu Lin then inserted more needles, each one imbued with a faint trace of True Qi.

Tang Shuang’s long-term injury had left the Qi and Blood in her leg extremely weak. Using Mu Lin’s powerful True Qi to force the issue could be counterproductive.

Therefore, the better method was to use a small amount of True Qi, applied quickly, while simultaneously reconnecting all the meridians and muscles.

Her Qi and Blood began to circulate, and Tang Shuang felt warmth slowly returning to her ice-cold leg.

Her eyes reddened again, only this time it wasn’t from fear, but from joy.

’Joy that she would soon be able to get up and walk again!’

After finishing with the needles, Mu Lin supported Tang Shuang’s leg with his hands, slowly guiding it from one side to the other.

Tang Shuang’s face slowly turned red. A girl’s legs were extremely important—sometimes on par with her chest.

Her legs had always been exceptionally beautiful—long, straight, and paired with her fair skin, they were simply stunning.

Countless men had been captivated by those legs, and some had even taken desperate risks for them.

Mu Lin, however, was completely unfazed. He simply saw it as one step in the treatment process and thought nothing more of it.

The atmosphere grew charged, but Mu Lin’s technique remained steady and professional.

Tang Shuang wanted to say something to break the silent stalemate.

”You... young man... thank you.”
