Tower of Endless: Death Granted Entry

Moon started walking away, no longer bothering himself with the newcom—

Cowards.

His mind went back to problems he had to deal with. Convincing Chef Ed was one thing, and there was also something else that came to his mind.

There were two things that he thought might be the same thing, based on the description of both the blue and crimson windows.

[Ascension Gift] in the blue screen was unidentified... so, for now, it was something that existed, but it was not yet known what it was.

And on the crimson window, there was the so-called [Awakening Talent]. And it was pending activation... so like the blue window, it was something that existed, but he had yet to know what it was.

So he vaguely concluded they were the same thing, but as usual, the warrior the system calls ??? had a different set of naming.

’Does everyone have these too?’ he wondered, feeling more urgency than usual. The fact that everyone could have an ability he had yet to see or understand, and that it could turn the flow of a fight against him.

He had been seeing the world over the last few days, and his worries were justified.

’Am I worrying too much or too little?’ he wondered, unable to tell.

But then again, he remembered Uon never mentioned it, so maybe it was rare... or he had yet to mention it because it was too common.

He didn’t want to ask too much lest he give too much away and put his own freedom in danger.

Samuel was a stroke of luck. He couldn’t truly hide much from the perceptive old man, and that didn’t have to necessarily happen again.

Samuel was a special case. He was unbothered, strong, and did whatever he wanted...

’Does he stay here for that very reason?’

His thoughts never found an answer...

He turned his head to the two still arguing. They would not be staying for long anyway, and he had more important things to take care of.

As for the hierarchy, they would deliver themselves to him sooner or later... they always did...

Slaves or not, real-life education was essential for all, and he was not letting go of his grudge with the flamboyant kid.

Uon should be the one to take care of them, but apparently, he was tired after everything he had witnessed these last 24 hours. Moon passing out, taking care of him, the conflict with Mishu... so many things pressed on his mind.

Including the fact that most new ascenders are affiliated with nothing to be taught, he didn’t bother anymore and went to sleep instead after making sure Moon was fine.

As for Dorbish, he also was in a foul mood. He was a descendant of a warrior clan; strength was everything.

He studied Moon, his clothes, weapon, and looks... his speech as well. There was nothing for him to note.

There was nothing to be seen from Moon.

For Dorbish, being a warrior was his pride and something that had been carried through his lineage, but all of a sudden a guy...

A guy who didn’t carry a crest of a clan nor spoke of its name.

Which meant one of two things.

First, Moon was an independent ascender with no background.

But then again, his eyes fell on the axe, the heavy battleaxe of his clan.

He had thrown it using all of his strength, even his echo was involved... with his clan techniques.

But that warrior managed to hit it, with a bare fist nonetheless.

He walked across the platform to where his axe landed, picking it up.

’An unaffiliated warrior knocking down my axe with his bare fists?” Dorbish thought to himself.

As he held it, he realized, this perfect punch would have redirected the axe into Roran’s face... That if he didn’t use his family style and Echo, this could have been bad.

And that was everything he deduced the second conclusion upon.

This warrior was hiding his identity, not to be carried by his clan or reputation.

And he was doing that so perfectly that it was impossible to pin his affiliation.

Though, regardless of which possibility was true, a spark of admiration was inevitable...

He glanced at Roran, thinking that, maybe, this was one thing he did right... getting him to clash once with a fellow warrior.

And in his heart, he promised himself that, very soon, the battle he ditched would be fulfilled the way it should.

~Whistle.

A very long one rang across the empty area... Dorbish turned his head to where the sound came from, and it was obviously as expected... from Roran.

But Roran didn’t do it meaninglessly, his eyes were fixed on something.

The newcomer that had just arrived.

After looking for a moment, Dorbish understood.

”This is definitely a fine beauty,” Roran commended.

Even if he did nothing to agree, Dorbish agreed completely.

The newcomer was a young lady, looking around the same age as them. Bright red hair was gathered at the back with a few strands running over her forehead... eyes of disinterest, or feeling rather distant, glowing in faint amber.

Her skin was slightly flushed, giving her even more charm.

Her armor was a silver chest plate and arm guards, and everything else was leather underneath, covering her entire body perfectly.

On her waist lay a bastard sword.

And unlike Dorbish and Roran who came out clean, her boots and armor were stained with blood.

The same for her chest plate was carrying a crest visible under the bloody smear, a very well-known one across the tower, depicting something that looked like a knighthood sword facing down, and the hilt guards were large wings on each side.

Dorbish, once he saw that, felt the urge to slap the trash-talking mouth of the bastard standing next to him, but he blew off a breath and hung the battleaxe, nearly as big as himself, on his back.

Clans were all over the tower, every floor had a few well-known clans, but now he was seeing one of the descendants of one of the ruling clans of the upper floors.

Though a few of the lass’ features were off, the crest could not be fabricated... no one would pick a fight with that clan, not in this facility and not in the open.

She was indeed a beauty, and a bloody-looking one at that... but she was standing still, unmoving for what seemed like a long moment.

The rift was also still there...

’Was that a group trial?’ Dorbish questioned.

But his question was soon answered when another young lady stepped out of the rift.

”Sister, did I make you wait?” the recently arriving one spoke first.

The new lady had ash-blond hair and green eyes. Her features were delicate, and her skin tone was lighter than that of the knight lady... she wore a white dress underneath the hood... her left arm had a steel wrist guard... She was too clean compared to the first young lady.

”No, that’s fine,” the redhead lady replied.

Dorbish, who was still processing the situation, unable to understand the nonsensical combination, found something poking his side.

”Not bad, right?” Roran poked Dorbish with his elbow amd whispered.

Dorbish rolling his eyes without answering.

He turned to look around for where to rest or stay at this late hour... but as soon as he did, he saw Moon standing away from them... legs still in the direction of his stride, but his head was fully rotated in the opposite direction.

He was looking at the two young ladies, eyes and mouth wide open.

’Is he a simp?’ Dorbish couldn’t help but question.
