’Uggh, my head... what did that grumpy old man do?’

Moon found himself lying on the floor, eyes staring at the grass-littered ground, his body heavy... too heavy.

He felt weak, but he also found his current state surprisingly comfortable... Too comfortable

This comfort.

He always yearned for just that... maybe a little comfort, a life where no one can order him, no one can force him.

A life where no one held authority over his choice of comfort... where he can eat well and sleep...

Where he can run free... do nothing, dream of nothing...

Desires...

Maybe this was his only desire...

Desiring nothing... this was everything

But this nothing was nearly impossible.

Throughout this meaninglessly short life, he ate scraps off the streets.

Till one day, he was kidnapped and became a slave.

His mind played everything like a shit show... and it truly was.

The strangers who kidnapped him branded him, turned him into a property... and he ended up fighting for them.

Who were they?

He didn’t care.

They meant nothing. He didn’t want to know or remember who they were.

He just found a slight sense of freedom in fighting... So he wanted to fight and become free...

He fought because, in fighting, he found this lost freedom. This thrill was what kept him from going mad. Keeping his mind intact.

’Ah, there were these guys too...’ He remembered faces.., only faces...

’What were their names again?’

’Right... they didn’t have any.’

’None of them had a name.’

From 0 to 9, they were given numbers.

’And that bastard... 9th bro...’

His memories of him were not vast; he didn’t spend a lot of time with them... he also seemed older at first glance... he came only less than a year before they all died.

He fought well too... Moon was the best fighter in the group, but the 9th was also good.

Moon, in his heart recognized himself as the strongest war slave to ever exist... he desired to live more than anyone else, but he was never clingy.

He lost, got gutted.

Was dying.

What was there to cling to?

He was already in the process of dying... there wasn’t a single hope.

They were abandoned, left to die... but what if someone actually came to help?

They would have still died...

They would have only suffered for longer than they should, but they would have died.

Maybe he should have stayed dead.

Did living mean anything at all...

He lived and suffered things that were impossible for a warslave.

But...

sigh...

He also experienced many things... clean running water coming out of the wall.

Glowing circles shooting fire.

Drank clean water.

Ate real food.

These... these were nice too.

But he was just... not sure.

Were they worth the suffering?

Will this suffering ever end?

’Should I... just willingly die?’

He didn’t know. He didn’t have an answer.

The only thing he knew was that this world was just unwilling to accommodate him...

He never belonged here, there was no place for him to peacefully be in this place.

He adjusted his position and looked at the sky...

Yeah...

It was a beautiful sky.

There were fluffy things floating... going past bright things.

It was beautiful.

But...

Why was he seeing these now?

Shouldn’t—

’Ah.... The Tower.... Where am I?’

He started checking his body... and... yeah, he could move it.

He wasn’t a ghost again... it was his real body... these were his hands, his legs... and the scars... they were his.

Feeeeeuuu~

He blew a breath into the world.

Did he get out, or did he die... did Samuel fail?

But when he tried to support his body up, he felt something familiar underneath his hands...

He turned his head around, he found Liquid Mountain...

Pausing for a second, he wondered.

’I mean... maybe if I died I would still have my clothes, but do dead people take their weapons along as well?’ He thought to himself.

He reached out to Liquid Mountain...

The memories of that time he first held it came. He was too happy back then.

But... he didn’t get to use it, not once.

Sigh...

Maybe he should have tried to stab that banshee bitch... Rowa, once.

’What a beautiful thought, what a beautiful thing to imagine.’ He smiled

But he also realized the fact that he was just too small for this place... everyone was a giant... even Uon, he made a place for himself.

Moon unsheathed Liquid Mountain and looked at how beautiful it was...

’Damn fine shyt.’

Ding.

[Prepare for combat.]

’Hmmm... what now, stop disturbing his peace, you assh—’

’The fuck?’

’Was that the crimson window?

He turned his head to the notification sound he head last a while ago, and he was indeed right.

’Why was it notifying him of combat?’

’Combat.’

’Where?’

’Who was attacking?’

He tried to take a look at the blue window, but—

This thing was not there... at all!

He tried looking at it how he normally does, just thing of it present in front of his eyes... But...

It didn’t matter where he was..

”Dammit... I can’t chill peacefully for a moment.” He cursed out loud.

Every time he thought he died, something happened.

But that was fine, he guessed. It was a chance to use this fine shit at least once.

He ran his hand along the blade of Liquid Mountain...

Feeling some of his strength return, he stood up... let’s see what combat this thing was speaking of.

Ding.

Another notification, a crimson window came from behind, but his window was in front of his eyes and showed nothing.

He turned to take a look.

But—

’What the fuck was this shit?’

’Who was this?’

Someone was walking slowly, and on his shoulder, he had...

’Was that a spear?’

No.

It was just... a long wooden stick.

That was fine too; this guy came to beat him up, or so it seemed.

’But what the hell is this status window doing?’

Name: ???

Physicality: 2

Mentality: 12

Perception: 4

Energy: 2

Instinct: 10

’What does that mean?’

The man was still far away. But the name... There was only one person.

’Uh.’

Moon was certain...

It was him... but his face...

Moon couldn’t see it... Something was covering his face or blurring it; he couldn’t make sense of his features.

The body was the same; the leather armor that he had no chance to take a good look at, only seeing little part of the sleeves and the footwear... He could now see them clearly, the full image.

The armor was brown leather intersecting at some places with white fabric underneath it.

Chest, arm, shoulder, waist and shin guard...

Though the fabric in his memories was dustier and darker than now...

Everything from his memories added to what he now saw fell into place like a perfect puzzle...

The body was as he remembered, somewhat different from his; it felt narrower and somewhat... longer... though the height difference was not vast.

’The warrior from the Memory Fragment!’

It was the warrior himself.

But what were these stats... he was weak... too weak...

Moon felt it. He was slightly stronger than him back then, but now... he was far weaker than Moon...

’Was this real?’ Moon felt his heart race; his body started shaking.

His thoughts ran wild, he started getting lost in his own min.

The warrior moved his hands at Moon, who suddenly snapped back

Only now he found something off, upon closer look... he realized the warrior was moving his hand, and his neck...

Moon couldn’t see his mouth, so...

’Was he trying to say something?’ Moon questioned, but no voice came.

Ding!

[Let’s have a friendly spar.]

The voice didn’t come. Instead, it was through the crimson window...

Everything was now clear, Moon didn’t need any more proof of identity.

His eyes fell on Liquid Mountain.

”Shouldn’t I change weapons too... you’re just using a stick.” Moon opposed.

Ding!

[This is plenty.]
