High School DxD: Return of the Crimson Dragon Emperor

Chapter 449: Chapter 439 That must have been when my brother awakened

That must have been when my brother awakened. Those rainbow particles had spread across Kuoh Town and even across dimensions; it wasn’t strange for Miltan-san to have heard his voice.

Miltan-san continued.

”A few days after that, a hole opened in the sky, and I heard a white-haired boy saying he was going to attack everyone-nyo.”

That was Asem’s declaration of war to the world. It seems his voice reached ordinary humans after all.

Miltan-san tightened their fist, eyes burning with passion.

”Devil-san and the others are working hard for the sake of the world-nyo. So, Miltan will use this power to protect everyone, too-nyo. That is why I came here-nyo!”

”This person really is a good person! Way too good of a person!”

How can one soul be this pure?! They’re acting so much like a hero that I’m starting to not even care what they look like!

Just as I was being swept up in this inexplicable wave of emotion, Miltan-san pointed toward the ”Gate.”

Looking over, I realized that massive monsters and clones of the Welsh Dragon had been pouring out of the Gate, and the Allied forces were already locked in a fierce struggle. I’d been so distracted by Miltan-san that I hadn’t even noticed.

”Are Devil-san and the others headed for that hole-nyo?”

”Y-Yes. Our role is to enter the enemy territory through that Gate and stop them.”

Wait—was it okay to tell a civilian the plan? Too late now.

Miltan-san gave a single nod and looked at us.

”Miltan will take care of things here-nyo. I want Devil-san and the others to move ahead-nyo.”

”Wait! It’s too dangerous! We can’t let you shoulder such a burden alone!”

Rias-san spoke with a deadly serious expression, but... I don’t know, this whole situation is just weird. I feel like there are so many other things she should be reacting to first...

Miltan-san stepped forward, glancing back at us over their shoulder. And then—

”Miltan will fulfill Miltan’s duty-nyo. For the sake of everyone, I can overcome any hardship. That... is what I believe a true Magical Girl of Justice is-nyo.”

So cool! They’re being weirdly cool despite being weird! Wait, what even is Miltan-san’s ”duty”?!

Before I could stop them, Miltan-san charged straight toward the monsters! They blurred across the battlefield at terrifying speed!

”MILKY—BLAST—IMPACTOOOOOOOOOOO!!”

A swung fist of pure muscle pulverized a clone! A Demon Lord-class enemy in one hit?!

”MILKY—LOVELY—BREATHHHHHHHHHH!!”

Exhaled breath turned into a localized hurricane, blowing away countless evil dragons! They’re creating typhoons just by breathing?!

”Oh, she’s using the magic I taught her,” Lisha-san noted calmly.

”You taught them that, Lisha-san?! More importantly, why are you so calm?!”

Even as we spoke, Miltan-san’s rampage showed no signs of stopping. Every punch and every kick pulverized and swept away the mighty foes.

”MILKY—LIGHTNING—SLASHHHHHH!”

A hand-sword strike decapitated an evil dragon, cleaved a clone in two, and then—impossibly—split the sea right down the middle! I can see the ocean floor!

”Ah, I taught them that move,” Maurice-san said.

”Maurice-san?! What kind of terrifying things are you teaching people?!”

Kiba-kun’s retort exploded! It looked like he’d finally regained his senses.

Suddenly, a change came over the aura covering Miltan-san’s body. A ”lovely” pink-colored aura began to take shape. As the pink aura writhed—it formed a pair of angelic wings on their back!

Heart-shaped feathers fluttered down from the expanded wings, touching the evil dragons. The moment they were touched, the dragons started foaming at the mouth and fell into the sea... What did those feathers even do to them?!

Miltan-san aimed a palm at one of the super-giant monsters. An insane amount of aura gathered there and—

”MILKY—BIG BANG—ATTACKKKKKKKKKKK!!”

ZWAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!

The unleashed bombardment engulfed the giant monster, erasing it entirely into the ”lovely” pink horizon.

So... this is Miltan-san’s true power...

”So this is the power of a Magical (Physical) Girl!” Irina-san exclaimed.

”Irina-san, those characters don’t mean the same thing.”

The ”Physical Girl” Miltan-san’s fighting style was beyond devastating, and they continued to swing those fists with relentless bravery.

The soldiers fighting on the battlefield were equally struck with awe and terror.

”H-Hey, what the hell is that guy?!”

”He took out that monster in one hit?! Who is he... actually, what is he wearing?!”

”Don’t ask me! B-But we can do this! If that person is here, we can hold the line!”

”I-It’s a savior! A savior has appeared!! We can win! We can actually win thisssss!!”

『『『UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!』』』

The warriors regained their spirit! Raising a mighty war cry, they charged back at the clones and dragons.

Earlier, when many allies were lost to the enemy bombardment, some had been on the verge of despair. But now, those same people were fighting with faces full of courage.

So... this is the Miltan Effect...

Rias-san also took on a brave expression.

”Let’s go. We follow her lead!”

U-Um, about that... it’s a little hard to nod along to that...

Even Alice-san is shaking her head with tears in her eyes...

But, in any case, the tide of battle had turned. Most of the enemies were being swatted out of the sky, and the area around the Gate was clearing up.

We nodded to each other and took flight toward the Gate. We would pass through it and enter the world where Asem waited—

Yeah, there was no way this was staying serious!
