The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 285: Chapter 285: I’ll Give You Double the Salary

He Hongting looked satisfied. His efforts on Shen Jiangnan’s behalf had not been in vain. With such a capable subordinate, his own workload would soon be a little lighter.

”Hahaha, I’ve heard a great deal about Jiangnan’s accomplishments. I never expected we’d become colleagues. I hope we have a pleasant time working together.”

He Hongting and Shen Jiangnan laughed, but Cheng Yuan gave a wry smile. ”Uncle He, with just a single word, you’ve transferred Uncle Shen to Beijing. Now I’ll have no one to look after me in Luocheng.”

He Hongting laughed. ”Xiaoyuan, don’t you worry. A position this important must go to one of our own.”

”That puts my mind at ease. When the time comes, I’ll have to ask you to make an introduction for me, Uncle He.”

”Of course.”

After eating and drinking their fill, Cheng Yuan took his leave and caught the high-speed train back to Luocheng.

It was already five in the afternoon when Cheng Yuan returned to Luocheng. He hailed a taxi and headed straight for Villa Number One. He had a new batch of medicinal herbs and needed to quickly refine a cauldron of Pills.

...

Wang Shanshan had been feeling very depressed for the past few days. She thought she had finally latched onto a powerful backer, but He Tianci had seemingly vanished from the mortal world, not answering her calls or replying to her messages.

’Was it all for nothing again?’

’Are all rich people just that ruthless?’

’Was He Tianci already tired of her after just one night?’

’That shouldn’t be possible!’

Wang Shanshan felt utterly hopeless, her life a bleak expanse of gray. The only small comfort was that He Tianci had put in a word for her; her case was resolved and closed as an act of justifiable self-defense.

Just as Wang Shanshan’s spirits hit rock bottom, she suddenly received a call from an unfamiliar number.

Wang Shanshan’s spirits lifted. ’Could it be a new number for He Tianci?’

Wang Shanshan quickly answered the call. A somewhat familiar voice came from the other end, ”Miss Wang, I have admired you for a long time. I wonder if I might have the honor of inviting you to dinner?”

Wang Shanshan asked hesitantly, ”And you are?”

”Chen Weizhong. We met at Young Master He’s party.”

”Oh, so it’s President Chen? You should know that I’m Young Master He’s woman, shouldn’t you? Why would you make such an unreasonable request? Aren’t you afraid of making Young Master He angry?”

”Of course I’m afraid of making Young Master He angry. But Young Master He has died unexpectedly, so he will never be angry again. Miss Wang, I fell for you the moment I saw you. I guarantee I will treat you even better than Young Master He did! Just say the word, and I’ll give you a villa in the Long Lake District.”

’A villa in the Long Lake District?’

’Those start at ten million!’

’President Chen is so ridiculously rich, isn’t he?’

”President Chen, they say a wise bird chooses the best branch to perch on. To be honest, I had a very good impression of you at Young Master He’s party. It would be a great pleasure to have dinner with you.”

”Miss Wang, send me your location, and I’ll come pick you up.”

”Okay.”

Driving his Bentley, Chen Weizhong found her at the address she sent. He rolled down the window and said with a broad smile, ”Shanshan, get in. I’m taking you to see your new villa.”

Wang Shanshan’s eyes lit up. ’President Chen is driving a Bentley! He must be seriously powerful!’

”Okay, President Chen.”

Wang Shanshan got into the car, and Chen Weizhong drove straight toward the Long Lake District.

Eager to show off his impressive driving skills to Wang Shanshan, Chen Weizhong sped along the winding mountain road, overtaking car after car and making her shriek repeatedly.

But mostly, she was thrilled.

”President Chen, your driving is incredible! That’s the first time I’ve ever felt myself get thrown back in my seat like that!”

Chen Weizhong lapped up the praise, laughing. ”It’s a shame the Bentley’s power is just average. Next time, I’ll take out the sports car. Now *that’s* a thrill!”

As he spoke, Chen Weizhong slammed the accelerator to the floor, quickly catching up to the taxi ahead.

Chen Weizhong glanced at the taxi with contempt and sneered, ”You rarely see a taxi heading to the Long Lake District. Must be a servant for one of the families. The young guy looks sharp, but to think he’s just hired help.”

Chen Weizhong hadn’t stayed for the final auction at the party; he had left right after the dancing, so he didn’t recognize Cheng Yuan. Otherwise, he never would have said such a thing.

’A servant?’

Wang Shanshan instinctively turned to look at the taxi. Its rear window was down, and through the opening, she saw a familiar face.

’Isn’t that Cheng Yuan?’

’Is Cheng Yuan working in the Long Lake District?’

’I thought Cheng Yuan had latched onto some rich sugar mama, but to think he’s still doing this poorly?’

’It looks like he didn’t buy that lingerie set the other day after all. The woman must have bought it herself and just let him carry the bag to look impressive.’

The thought that she was about to become a homeowner in the Long Lake District, while Cheng Yuan was working there as a servant, made Wang Shanshan tremble with excitement!

”President Chen, that man in the taxi is an old classmate of mine. He even pursued me back in school. I always felt he’d never amount to anything, but I never imagined he’d end up working as a servant for a homeowner in the Long Lake District.”

’A classmate?’

’And he pursued Wang Shanshan?’

Chen Weizhong had been about to leave the taxi eating his dust, but after hearing what Wang Shanshan said, he immediately slowed down. He wanted the poor bastard in that taxi to get a good look—the goddess he’d pined for was about to be his!

Soon, the two cars arrived at the Long Lake District, one after the other.

The security guard on duty at the main gate of the Long Lake District was named Jia Ping. Jia Ping was new and wasn’t familiar with the residents, but he had experience working at other residential complexes.

He knew the drill: see a luxury car, let it pass. See a regular car, give it a stricter inspection.

For Chen Weizhong’s Bentley, Jia Ping didn’t even bother checking the license plate; he just raised the barrier arm and waved it through.

Chen Weizhong drove into the complex and parked by the side of the road.

Chen Weizhong and Wang Shanshan got out of the car, watching what would happen behind them with great interest.

Unsurprisingly, the taxi carrying Cheng Yuan was stopped by Jia Ping, who said with a cold expression, ”This is the Long Lake District, a high-end residential area. Taxis are not permitted to enter.”

The taxi driver glanced at Cheng Yuan apologetically. ”Sir, I’m so sorry, they won’t let me in. Would you mind getting out here?”

Cheng Yuan couldn’t help but frown. He leaned his head out the window. ”You must be new here. I’m a resident of the Long Lake District. Let the taxi in.”

Jia Ping scoffed. The cheapest large apartments in the Long Lake District started at five million. Why would a resident be taking a taxi?

”If you’re really a resident, then please show me your property deed.”

Cheng Yuan was furious. ’Who the hell carries their property deed around with them?’

”Driver, you can go.”

Not wanting to waste the driver’s time, Cheng Yuan decisively got out of the car and looked coldly at Jia Ping. ”Have your manager come see me.”

”Sorry, our manager is busy! If you want to enter the complex, you’ll have to have the resident call and confirm your identity.”

Cheng Yuan laughed in anger, pulling out his phone and staring coldly at Jia Ping. ”Are you sure you want me to make this call? Because if I do, you’re going to lose your job.”

Watching the spectacle from the side, Wang Shanshan and Chen Weizhong couldn’t help but roll their eyes. ’He’s just a servant, does he really need to brag so ridiculously?’

Chen Weizhong took a couple of steps forward and said with a smug smile, ”Hey, security guy. I can vouch for him. This young man works as a servant here in the Long Lake District. You can let him in.”

’Just a servant?’

Jia Ping curled his lip in disdain.

When facing Chen Weizhong, however, Jia Ping squeezed out a fawning expression. ”Well, since you’re vouching for him, boss, he can go in.”

Jia Ping hurriedly opened the pedestrian gate for Cheng Yuan.

Cheng Yuan shot a cool glance at Chen Weizhong, not even bothering to explain that he wasn’t a servant.

Seeing Cheng Yuan tacitly accept the ”servant” label, Wang Shanshan was thrilled. She smoothed her freshly styled hair, sauntered forward, and looked at Cheng Yuan with a patronizing smile.

”Cheng Yuan, which villa number are you a servant for? How much do they pay you? Why don’t you come work for us instead? I’ll pay you double.”
