Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 3052: Chapter 2988: Is There Some Misunderstanding

”You guys should still be meeting up after this, right?” Seeing Ji Qin genuinely troubled and wanting to chat, Jiang Xiao had nothing to do at the moment, so she decided to keep her company.

Ji Qin nodded, ”Yes, we’ve met a few times. But I tell you, Ma Guoqun is really not suitable. He’s too focused on appearances, yet behind that facade, he’s stingy to the extreme. Last time he invited me to dinner at a relatively nice restaurant and asked me to order. I ordered a braised pork knuckle, unaware it cost eight yuan, and he complained for ages afterwards, telling me women shouldn’t eat so much meat, saying women are made of water and should be hydrated; thus, more vegetables, more water, and less meat.”

Jiang Xiao burst into laughter.

Women made of water? So that’s how it’s explained.

What’s the connection between hydration and eating meat anyway?

”If you think he’s not suitable, just tell your family directly.”

”I did. Guess what they said? My mom said it’ll be good that Ma Guoqun is thrifty and meticulous, meaning he’d care for the household and won’t spend lavishly outside. How great.”

Jiang Xiao shook her head, lost for words at such notions.

Ji Qin continued, ”Recently, the last two times we met, Ma Guoqun asked me to dress nicer, wear skirts, navy blue skirts, black Mary Janes, keep my hair long to tie a high ponytail, and to nourish my body so my complexion becomes fair and rosy like an apple...”

As she was speaking, she looked at Jiang Xiao and suddenly widened her eyes, pointing at Jiang Xiao, somewhat astonished, ”Xiao Chiang, why do I feel like he’s describing you?”

Navy blue dresses, black Mary Janes, high ponytail, face like a red apple—this was Jiang Xiao’s current attire, her current look.

Jiang Xiao realized too.

This was indeed her current outfit.

But when she met Ma Guoqun that day, she wasn’t dressed like this.

She paused and said, ”I think my style is quite ordinary.”

To her, it genuinely seemed simple and understated.

The dress was short-sleeved with a sailor collar. Though it was tailored at the waist, making her figure look tall and graceful, it was completely unadorned with no exposure. The black Mary Janes were rather worn out, but she paid attention to cleanliness and regularly washed them, making the shoes appear quite clean.

She previously had short hair, but now that it grew longer, she tied it into a high ponytail for convenience, even the rubber band was the ordinary kind wrapped with black yarn, with a blue bead she tied on herself.

As for her face, she wore no makeup. Her healthy complexion stemmed from her robust health now.

Her skin was genuinely very good.

Ji Qin waved her hand, ”It’s not ordinary at all!”

Could Jiang Xiao have misunderstood what ordinary means?

”Look at me.”

Ji Qin was wearing white plastic sandals, tight green pants, and a slightly patterned white shirt.

This outfit naturally appeared rather tacky to Jiang Xiao, but when she met Ji Qin’s eyes, she understood.

Ji Qin’s attire was what was truly ordinary for this era.
