Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 3043: Chapter 2979: Infatuated with Someone

Xie Landi also didn’t know how she should put it.

She felt she’d been too anxious these days, always wanting to succeed. She even had a definition of success in her mind, and that was to be like Jiang Xiao.

Pretty, good grades, good at painting, famous, confident in herself—her whole person looked like she would shine.

If she could be like that, then maybe she would have the courage to ask what she really wanted to ask.

What she actually wanted to ask was, is Young Alliance Official Wei still in the Capital City? Is Young Alliance Official Wei still alone? Young Alliance Official Wei...

Where could she run into Young Alliance Official Wei?

She really wanted to see him again.

She clearly knew it was impossible between them, clearly knew she didn’t deserve him, but she still wanted to see him again—even if she could only listen to his voice, only watch him from afar.

But she couldn’t.

Under a gaze like Jiang Xiao’s, she had no way to ask any questions about Young Alliance Official Wei.

”When will I ever be like you, able to stay on in the Capital City, have a job here...”

”Don’t you already have a job now?”

”But...” Xie Landi wanted to say she couldn’t possibly do this for a lifetime; if she kept doing this, there would probably never be any chance between her and Young Alliance Official Wei, right?

Yet somehow she just couldn’t say it.

Jiang Xiao frowned slightly.

In fact, she had very little experience in romance, and at the beginning with Meng Xinian, it had always been Meng Xinian taking the initiative more, so she had almost never felt the way Xie Landi was feeling now.

Being infatuated with a man, liking him, but not daring to get close, not daring to speak up, not daring to let even a hint of her feelings show.

It was a feeling that had a bit of sweetness buried inside the sourness, but that trace of sweetness was completely no match for the ache.

So looking at Xie Landi like this, Jiang Xiao couldn’t quite understand; she only knew that something about Xie Landi was off right now.

”N-nothing, nothing’s wrong.” Under this kind of gaze from Jiang Xiao, Xie Landi felt a bit panicked and wanted to escape. ”The bus is here, I’m getting on now. Jiang Xiao, are you taking this bus too?”

”Yeah.”

Her car had been driven over to Huchuan by Ding Haijing and Guan Tiezhu, so now whenever she went out she just took the bus.

She hadn’t asked Luo Yongsheng to come along today; she’d come by herself.

Once they got on the bus, Xie Landi went to pay the fifty-cent fare for her, but Jiang Xiao took out one yuan and paid for them both.

”I’ll pay you back,” Xie Landi said, taking out a few Mao notes for her. Jiang Xiao shook her head. ”No need.”

Xie Landi wasn’t good at pushing money back and forth, so she could only hold those few Mao notes in her hand, not knowing what to say to Jiang Xiao.

On the bus, Jiang Xiao just kept looking out at the scenery and didn’t talk much. When the bus reached her stop, she got off. Xie Landi still had two more stops to go. She stared at Jiang Xiao’s back and bit her lower lip.

She really wanted to be like Jiang Xiao.

Jiang Xiao went to Youqingwei. The teahouse’s business was already very stable now; you could say that just relying on the income from this teahouse, she could be considered a wealthy person.

Old He and Old Lee were both very enthusiastic about working here. Cheng Qiulian was considering gradually handing over the teahouse’s management to Old Lee, while she herself would move into an office to handle the finances.

She had discussed this with Jiang Xiao as well, and Jiang Xiao thought it was a good idea.

”Xiao Chiang.”

As soon as she walked into the teahouse, Jiang Xiao heard someone call her name in surprise.

Now the name ”Xiao Chiang” was equivalent to her other name; it actually had nothing to do with the surname Jiang.

As long as it was her identity as a Painter, this was the name people used.

Jiang Xiao followed the voice and looked over, seeing that senior reporter Ji Qin from the Capital City Pictorial Society.
