Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2582: Chapter 2518: More Than Just Revenge

”Can you finally tell us now?” Meng Chaojun sat down on the sofa, letting out a breath.

No matter what, it’s still more comfortable living at home.

”What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Old Meng also looked at Meng Xinian.

Something seemed to have been discovered.

Meng Xinian said coolly, ”Meng Sheng said there’s a suspicious person always lingering at the door of his hospital room.”

”What? What kind of suspicious person?”

”I don’t know.” Meng Xinian replied, ”But it’s very likely someone connected to Nian Che. Nian Che is not simple; I’ve told you all about this before. So during the time I’m not around, you all should stay home, don’t go anywhere, and don’t add burdens to Little.”

Initially, upon hearing the first part of his sentence, Meng Chaojun felt a warmth in his heart, thinking he still cares about him, but upon hearing the latter part, his face darkened again.

So, what this son is most afraid of is them causing trouble for Chiang Xiao, right?

He felt somewhat bitter inside, unsure how to express himself.

This might be the way relations with his son will always be in this life?

But, isn’t this already considered quite good?

Chiang Xiao glanced at him and said, ”Nian Che likely has more than just revenge for past events in mind. Brother Xinian is right; he may still be plotting something. Dad, your health isn’t that great now, so it’s better not to confront him directly, avoiding him would be best.”

Chiang Xiao’s words softened it quite a bit.

Meng Chaojun’s face eased as well.

”You say Nian Che wants revenge for past events, but I’m a bit unclear. Who wronged him back then? And does he have any right to seek revenge? He was... ” He paused, glanced at Meng Xinian, and continued, ”He burned his face in front of the tomb; it was his carelessness. Could he possibly blame us for it?”

He seemingly really knew nothing of the past entanglement.

Chiang Xiao sighed.

Meng Xinian’s face turned glum like water.

If not for his foolishness back then, being played around by people, would his mother have been depressed?

Thus, seeing Meng Chaojun so oblivious, his anger almost came rushing up.

”You don’t know Nian Che admired my mom back then? You didn’t know that because my mom cared only for you, he grew hateful from love? You always didn’t know why he resents our family, resents me? Because I’m born by mom and you!”

Meng Chaojun was shocked, eyes wide, unable to immediately grasp the meaning of his words.

”What did you say?”

”Still don’t get it?” Meng Xinian’s temple throbbed as he thought of Nian Chengcheng’s diary records, ”All the misunderstandings between you and my mom were orchestrated!”

”You, you say what?” Meng Chaojun’s complexion changed; actually he understood every word Meng Xinian said, yet couldn’t grasp the implication.

”I said, you...”

Chiang Xiao took Meng Xinian’s hand, ”Brother Xinian.”

Meng Chaojun is still sick, and quite seriously ill. Talking about those matters now might agitate him, it’s unpredictable.

Old Meng quickly stood up as well, ”Alright, alright, let’s discuss these matters later. You just came out from the hospital, might not be clean. Go take a bath, change clothes, and then come down to eat.”

Discussing those past issues now could really badly affect Meng Chaojun.
