Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2551: Chapter 2487: Out for His Life

Cheng Cheng instantly knew this wasn’t an accident; someone was trying to take his life.

Exactly who it was, he didn’t have the time to think about at this moment.

The person outside the car had incredible strength. Opening a car door underwater is inherently difficult, with the resistance and him pushing out against it.

However, that person’s strength was astonishingly great, and Cheng Cheng couldn’t hold out, getting the door closed on him.

Immediately after, he heard the sound of metal scraping.

It wasn’t very clear underwater, and it was too dark outside to see.

Nevertheless, he could feel that there was likely more than one person in the water.

They were swimming around the car, making moves.

Holding his breath, he forcefully pushed the car door again, only to hear a click, with something outside wedging it shut.

Cheng Cheng reacted.

They had used iron chains to tie the car up!

The intention was for him to be unable to open the door, trapping him to drown in the car!

His heart raced with anger, but he didn’t panic and immediately dove towards the back seat, trying to open the rear door.

But, similarly, it was already tied up.

This must be a meticulously planned assassination attempt!

Once he drowned, they would release the chains and take them away, making everyone believe he was unable to open the door himself and drowned alive in the car!

And it would just look like an accident!

Because of the dark night and unclear road conditions, it would seem plausible for a person newly transferred from out of state, unfamiliar with the roads in D State, to have an accident like this, with no one suspecting a thing.

Even if they did suspect, it wouldn’t help!

Cheng Cheng clenched his fist and forcefully punched the car window.

But breaking the car window from inside when submerged in water was exceedingly difficult.

Moreover, a significant amount of time had passed since the car fell into the water, and he was nearly out of breath.

Chiang Xiao’s name suddenly flashed across Cheng Cheng’s mind.

Little!

I hope you still have a chance to curse and blame me!

”Is my brother really that busy? Knowing Old Master Lu would come over today, Jiang Family would host a banquet; he should have arrived early, right? Why hasn’t he arrived yet?”

Chiang Xiao was on the phone with Chen Yiping.

Right now, with Ah Liu not around, her mind was in turmoil. Hanging up the phone, without knowing what to do, she decided she might as well chat with Chen Yiping, hoping to quickly learn about the situation over there.

Chiang Xiao intended for this call to last until the Jiang Family’s banquet ended.

”Indeed, I’ve heard Cheng Cheng is very busy. He mentioned he would come by yesterday, but he must have been held up by something important.”

Chiang Xiao was about to speak when she suddenly felt a chaotic thumping in her chest.

She instinctively gripped the receiver tightly.

It’s strange; Cheng Cheng, in some ways, resembles Meng Xinian.

He knew tonight was important for Ah Liu. Since he agreed to come tonight, he should have already arrived.

Unless something extremely important held him up, but given his skills, he should be able to free himself, moreover Old Master Jiang would assist him and wouldn’t send him far away when the situation is critical.

Could it be that something happened to Cheng Cheng?

Originally, it was just an unconscious speculation.

But the thought took root as soon as it passed through Chiang Xiao’s mind.

She clutched the receiver, feeling a bit anxious.

If something happened to Cheng Cheng, it would be no surprise.

That’s D State, where her greatest enemy, Ah Liu’s greatest enemy resides.

Ah Liu’s return was already anticipated to be fraught with danger.
