Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2512: Chapter 2448: It’s Not That Simple

”Nian Che must have thought that when my mom passed away, I was too young to remember anything. But unfortunately for him, I remember things quite early. I clearly remember that when my mom was gravely ill, she always told me that in this world, I was her biggest concern. She said she wanted to give me the best, but it was already too late, there was no chance. When she was critically ill, everyone was afraid I’d be too heartbroken, so they let me see her for the last time from a distance.”

Meng Xinian said expressionlessly, ”They all thought that was the last time I saw my mom, but it wasn’t at all. The night before she passed away, I climbed out of the window to see her myself. That night, my mom told me everything she wanted me to know, everything she could remember, but not a single word about adopting a child or anything like that.”

”Do you think, if she really voluntarily wrote such an adoption letter, would she not even mention it to me on her deathbed?”

Chiang Xiao immediately nodded.

”Moreover, there’s another point. At that time, she loved me the most, was the most reluctant to leave me. How could she directly write in a letter asking me to take care of another child? Even asking me to carry someone off a sedan? You might not know, but back then she cherished me so much, even her favorite children in the compound, no matter how good of a friend they were, like Chen Yin, if they were unjust to me, my mom would get upset and educate them.”

To put it bluntly, Nian Chengcheng was the kind of person who loved her child to the bone, extremely protective. Even if she did adopt a daughter, at most she’d say not to bully her little sister, to love her, but she would definitely not go into detail about carrying someone off a sedan in writing.

Nian Che simply does not understand.

”I can say that my later temperament, fearless even in the big compound, was influenced by my mom. Whenever I hit someone, her first question was always, ’Did they provoke you?’”

As if as long as they provoked him, he could absolutely hit back.

The one who raised him into a bully was indeed Nian Chengcheng.

However, Nian Che simply doesn’t understand.

Chiang Xiao listened, dumbfounded.

Meng Xinian rubbed her head and said, ”So, one might say your mother-in-law was an unreasonable mother. But unfortunately, her unreasonableness was only used for protecting me.”

Apart from him, Nian Chengcheng was that kind of sentimental person.

All her inner strength was used in being a mother.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have met such an end.

Chiang Xiao said, ”So you’re saying this letter might have been forged by Nian Che?”

”I don’t know the circumstances under which it was written, but I would absolutely never acknowledge it; it doesn’t reflect my mom’s true wishes. Therefore, this letter doesn’t affect me.”

At most, it just makes him more eager to deal with Nian Che.

Did he think he would accept that adoption letter?

Don’t be ridiculous.

Besides, when did Nian Mutong have her household registration in our family?

Even if it was registered, he could still remove it, let alone having no basis, just showing such a letter, what’s the point?

Thinking of this, Meng Xinian suddenly paused.

What’s the point?

Did he do all this just to disgust them?

But doesn’t he know that in the end, he would not gain anything good?

Like today.

Would this really make him feel happy?

”Little,” Meng Xinian paused and said, ”Maybe Nian Che’s purpose isn’t that simple, or maybe he’s just simply trying to provoke us.”
