Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2501: Chapter 2437: A Letter

When Meng Xinian heard this, he remained unmoved, but Chiang Xiao’s heart was stirred. She felt there was some truth to what was being said.

If Meng Chaojun were still in his position, at least the Gao Family would have to be cautious of Meng Chaojun if they tried anything, and it wouldn’t be so easy for them.

Moreover, if Meng Chaojun knew some inside information, they could prepare ahead of time.

”Actually, if Dad recovers from his illness, returning to his position isn’t impossible, right?”

Initially, upon hearing her words, Old Meng just wanted to sigh.

How could it be that easy?

”If this illness drags on for years, getting back to work won’t be so easy then.”

”What if it doesn’t take very long?”

Upon hearing these words, Old Meng was taken aback, and then his eyes lit up.

”Little, do you mean...?”

”What I’m saying is, what if Dad gets better within this year?”

”Then he’d be able to make a comeback no matter what! Chaojun isn’t already in his seventies or eighties. He might be able to strive in his position for another ten or twenty years, who knows.”

In his view, Meng Chaojun had been held back for years by Duan Qingqing, her constant pillow talk making a not-so-smart Meng Chaojun even dumber.

But now, without Duan Qingqing, maybe he could wise up a bit in the future?

At least if he can provide Meng Xinian with some assistance, that’s a good thing.

If the father and son could reconcile, in the future, he could consult Meng Xinian on matters, and Meng Xinian could advise him. Wouldn’t that make a big difference?

Uh, although the idea of a son advising his father might be somewhat embarrassing, it’s still better than ending up like this.

If that could really happen, he would honestly feel comforted in his old age.

Chiang Xiao nodded, ”Then let’s strive to get him better this year.”

Old Meng opened his mouth, but swallowed his words back.

Why did Chiang Xiao make it sound so simple?

Yet, a faint hope rose in his heart. Given how casually Chiang Xiao said it, could it be that she was really confident?

If that were the case, he truly would have no other desires. Satisfied, he was satisfied. His remaining wish was to live to see Meng Xinian and Chiang Xiao marry and have children, and that would be enough.

”Little, are you both having dinner here tonight?”

Just after Old Meng asked, a guard came in to report.

”Someone with the last name Nian is here to invite Old Meng for dinner, saying they had an arrangement.”

Upon hearing this, Chiang Xiao and Meng Xinian stood up simultaneously.

Nian Che?

He still dares to come?

It seems he guessed that Old Meng might not go, so he came to pick him up.

Old Meng looked at Meng Xinian, then at Chiang Xiao, ”What do you say to this?”

What do you say?

Meng Xinian sneered, ”Just don’t let him in.” He told the guard, ”Tell him simply, Old Meng isn’t going.”

”Yes.”

Outside the courtyard, upon hearing these words, Nian Che curled his lips into a smile, then handed an envelope to the guard, saying, ”Could you please give this letter to Meng Xinian? Just say that I hope they both can grace us with their presence at tonight’s banquet. I’ll be waiting for them at Fuxi Restaurant.”

With that, he turned and left without any hesitation.

When the letter reached Meng Xinian’s hands, upon seeing the handwriting, Meng Xinian’s expression slightly changed.
