Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2012: Chapter 1948: Truly Worrying

As a result, this old guy still has the nerve to say he has a bad temper.

Old Meng was delighted upon hearing this, ”Is Xinian back? Haven’t you been saying he’s on a classified mission, refusing to tell me where he went? Why are you willing to say now?”

He usually doesn’t always seek out Meng Xi.

He understands that the discipline in the Alliance is strict, and Meng Xi often has to go on missions, which naturally have to remain secret.

But isn’t this situation special?

They’re supposed to get married after the New Year.

Although they’re not holding a wedding ceremony now, just registering, there are still things that can’t be overlooked.

For instance, shouldn’t he and Chiang Xiao each have two new sets of clothes made?

One set for the wedding day, and another for the day after.

Ideally, three sets, since Chiang Xiao will need a new one for the home visit.

To make clothes, don’t you need to go to the tailor for measurements?

Plus, their house in Capital City needs to be properly decorated. Time is almost up, and they’ve been too busy; Chiang Xiao went abroad for a competition, and after she returns, who knows what else she’ll be busy with. If neither has time, he has to find someone to do it.

But it’s quite pathetic—he doesn’t have the key to the courtyard over there.

There’s no female head of the Meng Family to manage these matters, so he can only ask old friends about what needs to be done and handle things one by one.

With only a few days left, it’s crucial to find Meng Xi and take him for measurements to make new clothes.

Sigh, whose wedding is such a big deal, yet neither the bride nor groom is present, nor is there any planning evident?

Could it be they won’t be back in time for the wedding day?

The same goes for Chiang Xiao’s father—he’s often nowhere to be seen, making it hard to find anyone.

This really worries him to death.

That’s why he keeps calling Yang Zhiqi, hoping to learn Meng Xi’s whereabouts, at least confirming when he might return.

But every time Yang Zhiqi says he doesn’t know.

Old Meng grew anxious and decided to wait at Anbu Town these past two days.

Not many people know about Yang Zhiqi’s presence here, but he managed to find out anyway.

The first day of waiting yielded absolutely no news.

It’s now the second day, and finally, his waiting paid off.

Yang Zhiqi was also extremely helpless.

”Regarding their mission this time, I truly can’t say anything, and I also don’t know when they’ll come back; it’s up to Xinian to control that. Now that they’ve returned, he called in to report first.”

To be honest, Yang Zhiqi was relieved.

Contact was difficult over there.

All he knew was that the mission was far from simple, with several complications, making it probably quite dangerous. Three days ago, Meng Xi reported back that Ling Yun was attacked and injured, and both Dai Gang and Ren Lei were slightly injured while pursuing the assailants.

Jun Weichi was even captured once more, but fortunately, was rescued by Meng Xi’s team in the end.

The specifics weren’t clearly discussed over the phone either.

Now knowing they’re all back, Yang Zhiqi’s heart, which had been suspended, finally settled.

But that kid Meng Xi even called him from the airport just to complain, and then rudely hung up the phone.

Brat.

Getting more and more disrespectful.

Who has a good mood?

He’s been feeling tormented here every day too.

”Where is he? Are you giving him a vacation next?” Old Meng was eager to get Meng Xi some time off.

Yang Zhiqi said helplessly, ”Old Meng, if he’s given leave now, there will be no vacation after the New Year.”
