Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1754: Chapter 1690: Is this still family?

”Yes, I too fondly remember the dumplings made by my sister-in-law,” Jiang Qiuyan said nostalgically.

”I can’t replicate the taste of mom’s cooking either,” Ying Qiong said with a wry smile, ”It’s quite embarrassing to say, even though I’m the older sister, I was never interested in cooking. To be honest, Xiao Sixth was better at it than I was. Xiao Sixth wasn’t interested in cooking either, but he was willing to stay with mom in the kitchen, picking up a little bit here and there.”

Jiang Qiuyan looked at her.

Back then, no one dared mention Xiao Sixth at home, but today, for some reason, Ying Qiong brought him up herself.

Ying Qiong brought it up, but Qiuyan didn’t dare to freely engage in conversation.

Today, after Fourth Master and Seventh Master went to see Old Master Jiang, they came out with somewhat subtle expressions, and suddenly, the house became quieter.

In her judgment, it was probably because Old Master Jiang didn’t seem to be in grave danger.

Old Master Jiang’s intimidating presence was still very strong.

The household had been in turmoil these past few days precisely because everyone thought Old Master Jiang was not going to make it, hadn’t they?

Now that they discovered Old Master Jiang was still alive, they had to calm down a bit.

No one really knew Old Master Jiang’s state, whether he was temporarily better, or if it was because Doctor Chen Baoshen had truly saved him.

Jiang Qiuyan didn’t dare to ask.

This was the way it was in the Jiang Family; although her relationship with Ying Qiong was relatively good, now the entanglements of interests between families had become too complex. She wasn’t overthinking it, but feared Ying Qiong might be.

So even though they were all family, no one dared to fully trust one another or open their hearts.

Jiang Qiuyan sighed quietly.

She remembered when she was a young girl, everyone was in good spirits — one family, happily discussing everything.

Those years were truly joyful times.

But when did it start to change?

Perhaps it was the year her eldest brother and sister-in-law died?

Ying Qiong noticed she hadn’t responded, and lost interest in idle chat.

She knew Jiang Qiuyan didn’t dare to respond recklessly, and such relatives, too, made her feel pointless.

She increasingly missed Xiao Sixth, only Xiao Sixth was probably her closest and most trustworthy relative in this world. But Xiao Sixth, oh Xiao Sixth, where are you?

Are you still alive?

Feeling a twinge in her nose, tears welled up, her eyes warmed, and Ying Qiong couldn’t help but sniffle.

When she was younger, thinking of Xiao Sixth didn’t make her cry. Now, as she grew older each year, she missed Xiao Sixth more and more, and couldn’t help but want to cry when she thought of him.

Once the dumplings were cooked, she took a wooden tray, carried a bowl into Old Master Jiang’s room.

”Doctor Chen, Xiao Chen, you both go eat, I’ll stay with grandpa.”

Today they made dumplings because Old Master Jiang wanted to eat them.

When Ying Qiong heard Old Master Jiang expressing his desire to eat dumplings, a sense of hope welled up inside her.

Chen Yiping had originally told them that these days Old Master Jiang was barely sustaining himself with a few sips of porridge water, unable to eat anything, lacking any appetite.

But not long after drinking ginseng water and taking medicine, he slept, woke up, and suddenly said he was hungry, wanted to eat dumplings.

This truly delighted everyone.

At this point, Ying Qiong didn’t dare to use the kitchen’s food casually, so she decided to cook herself.

”No rush, let’s wait and see.” Chen Baoshen and Chen Yiping didn’t move, wanting to see if Old Master Jiang could eat. Sometimes, even with the desire, it wasn’t certain he could eat, and if he did, he might throw up.
