Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1753: Chapter 1689: D State Dumplings

Chiang Xiao was taken aback.

She did not expect that Ah Liu would be interested in the Jiang Family.

”Alright. But, Dad, why would you want to know about that family’s situation?”

”It’s nothing much,” said Ah Liu. ”Just thinking, maybe if we talk about their situation, it might jog some of my memory. If my family truly is from D State.”

Chiang Xiao thought about it and agreed.

In fact, she could tell him about what she knew regarding D State.

”Okay.”

”First, go inside and wash your hands and sit for a bit. I’ll finish wrapping the rest of the dumplings, and they’ll be ready soon.”

Chiang Xiao was surprised, ”Dad, you’re wrapping dumplings?” In their area, people rarely make dumplings, generally they cook rice.

However, D State is known for its famous D State steamed dumplings.

Right now, they aren’t so famous, but they will be once transportation develops, business flourishes, and local delicacies spring up everywhere. D State steamed dumplings shops will then spread across the country, and they will become famous.

Chiang Xiao had eaten them once.

Moreover, those dumplings have a special way of wrapping and shape.

Suddenly intrigued, she asked, ”Who taught you to make dumplings?”

Ah Liu replied, ”I don’t remember who taught me. Before, I thought I didn’t know how to make them. But today, at noon, I suddenly felt like I might have made them before, so I decided to try and see if I could still make them. Initially, several didn’t turn out well, but now I’ve got the hang of it, and they seem quite decent.”

He finished speaking and urged Chiang Xiao to put down her backpack and wash her hands. Upon doing so, he went back to the kitchen to continue his work.

Did he suddenly recall some things?

Chiang Xiao, pensive, entered her room, put down her backpack, washed her face and hands, and headed towards the kitchen.

Upon entering, she saw a chopping board on the stove, neatly arranged with dumplings.

Seeing the shape of the dumplings, Chiang Xiao’s pupils constricted slightly.

These are precisely the shape of D State steamed dumplings!

There are only two possibilities: One, Ah Liu’s ancestors are from D State, know how to wrap such dumplings, and taught him.

The second possibility is that Ah Liu is originally from D State.

In that case, it indeed seems necessary to take him to visit D State.

”Dad, could you teach me too?” She walked in.

”Of course, come here, I’ll teach you. It’s not difficult, and with my clever daughter, you’ll surely pick it up in no time.” Ah Liu said.

Chiang Xiao, in fact, learned quickly and wrapped them even more beautifully than Ah Liu.

Watching the dumplings she wrapped, Ah Liu suddenly said, ”I remember now, the person who taught me once told me something.”

Chiang Xiao looked at him.

”He said, dumplings wrapped by women always look prettier than those wrapped by men, because girls have slender fingers, making the folds appear more delicate.”

”Was it said by a man or a woman?” Chiang Xiao asked.

”A woman.”

Sometimes when Ah Liu recalled events, he couldn’t remember faces, only voices.

”Could it be my grandmother?”

Chiang Xiao asked.

Ah Liu shook his head and replied, ”I don’t know. There’s no rush; as more memories come back slowly, eventually I’ll remember all the people and things.”

”Okay, no rush.”

Chiang Xiao also nodded.

She just feared that if he pushed himself to remember too much, he might end up with a headache again.

Meanwhile, at the D State Jiang Family, Jiang Yingqiong was rolling up her sleeves in the kitchen, making dumplings herself.

Jiang Qiuyan was also there helping.

Jiang Yingqiong said, ”I learned the skill of making dumplings from my mother. The ones she made are different from those outside. While others are entirely vegetarian, she would add a tiny bit of finely chopped salted meat, making them especially delicious.”
