Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 371: Chapter 371 Sell It Yourself

She had always felt that frequently climbing the mountain to gather wild vegetables and hunt was not a lasting occupation.

Therefore, it was best for Ge Dejun and the others to have another way out.

Now, seeing these chestnuts, she suddenly thought that opening a store seemed like a good idea.

The winds of change were blowing, and a portion of people were allowed to become rich first. There would be more and more people doing business, and although there might be a little turbulence for a short while afterward, overall, the lives of the people would increasingly improve, and their purchasing power would grow year by year.

Ge Dejun and the others were honest people. To say they could run a big business might not be realistic, but to be the first to try something new, to start a small business, and to accumulate some capital ahead of others was certainly possible!

”Uncle, have you ever thought about how to deal with these chestnuts?” Chiang Xiao asked at dinner.

Ge Dejun was stunned, ”Deal with them? Aren’t we supposed to deliver them to Director Ma?”

Previously, after coming down the mountain, they would first deliver the goods to the Peace Restaurant. However, today it was too late, and the Peace Restaurant must have already closed, so they planned to deliver them tomorrow.

But now, listening to Chiang Xiao’s tone, it seemed there might be another plan?

Xu Linjiang looked at Chiang Xiao, ”Little, do you have any ideas?”

”I was thinking, even if the Peace Restaurant can use the chestnuts, at most they could make dishes like chestnut chicken, chestnut spare rib soup, and the like, which wouldn’t use that many chestnuts in a day. They may not be able to use all of our chestnuts,” said Chiang Xiao. ”So, with these chestnuts, we might as well sell them ourselves.”

Candied chestnuts had not yet appeared in their area.

In rural towns, this kind of product was not cultivated, and it was rarely seen in the mountains, so the situation was different from other regions that produced chestnuts in abundance. Currently, businesses in various places were just starting up, and there was little distribution of goods from the north to the south, as transportation networks had not yet been established. Therefore, people rarely had the opportunity to taste new and exotic foods; usually, they ate whatever was locally available, and there was little variety.

Ge Xiaotong had been to the provincial city with Xu Linjiang once and happened to encounter a vendor selling them, which she had tasted and could not forget.

Chiang Xiao currently had the advantage of rebirth, having seen and eaten much more than all of them.

”How are we going to sell them?” Liu Pei also asked curiously.

Everyone looked at Chiang Xiao.

”We’ll sell candied chestnuts! Candied chestnuts are so delicious! You only know about eating them steamed or boiled, right?”

Ge Liutao said, ”That’s right. Even boiled ones are rarely eaten by anyone; chestnuts aren’t produced around here.”

Indeed, chestnuts were not produced in their region, but on Bai Gu Mountain, there were indeed two such large chestnut trees! Could this be considered a gift from heaven to them?

”Are these candied chestnuts really that delicious?” Ge Dejun also asked. He had heard his daughter mention them in passing before.

”Delicious!” Chiang Xiao and Ge Xiaotong answered simultaneously.

Ge Xiaotong looked at Chiang Xiao, confused, and asked, ”Little, when have you eaten them?”

The others also showed puzzled expressions. Chiang Xiao suddenly felt a headache. Indeed, she had eaten them in her previous life, but she had not done so in this life yet!

She chuckled twice and said, ”Meng Xinian told me about them, saying they’re very delicious. I don’t know if it’s true, so we can try making some. If they really are that good, we could sell candied chestnuts in the town.”

Uh, sorry, Tyrant Meng, I can only make you take the blame for this.

Chiang Xiao just hoped that Tyrant Meng wouldn’t expose her when the time came, but she felt they probably wouldn’t meet for a long time.
