Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 311: Chapter 311: Good Idea to Strike

Chiang Songtao’s face looked awful, and Ho Laidi sitting beside him kept her head down, her eyes red.

Chiang Baohe was right; that’s exactly what the doctor had told them.

His leg had been severely injured, bones shattered; they had no way of treating it properly. All they could do was apply medicine and let it heal on its own. From now on, that leg would be useless.

But how could they dare to tell Chiang Baohe the reality of the situation?

He had already lost the sight in one eye; now, if he were to lose the use of a leg, could he even continue to live?

”Nonsense! What good does lying here do? You already spent seventy or eighty yuan yesterday! How much did that nose cost you? It would be great if it could heal without disfigurement, at least it isn’t unsightly. Once we go back, we’ll consult your Second Uncle; he knows about herbs and traditional medicine. The remedies he knows are even better than hospital medications; he definitely has a way.”

It was quite something for Chiang Songtao to actually say the injury wasn’t disfiguring.

Could Chiang Baohe really not be considered disfigured? He had been disfigured the moment he lost his eye. Moreover, this fall was particularly harsh; his nasal bone had broken, and because it happened in the dead of night, treatment was delayed. Now, even though it was set, it appeared somewhat crooked.

If this was considered not disfiguring, then what on earth would count as disfigured?

Chiang Songtao truly didn’t want him staying in the hospital any longer. Just yesterday, he had broken someone else’s hot water kettle, a thermometer, and even hit a nurse, forcing them to buy a pound of sugar to apologize.

That was all money.

With all this commotion, the savings from years of living frugally had been nearly depleted. How could they afford to stay any longer?

Besides, the crops and vegetable fields at home couldn’t be neglected.

Ho Laidi alone couldn’t handle him here.

Chiang Baoguo had to return to work; how could he spend every day attending to him?

When Chiang Songtao mentioned seeking help from Chiang Songhai, Chiang Baohe yelled, ”What use is my Second Uncle?”

Chiang Songtao exhaled a puff of smoke and muttered, ”How can you say he’s useless? Once he made a jar of medicated wine, that stuff was precious, incredibly effective for bone healing. If you use it long-term, your leg injury is sure to heal!”

Hearing this, Ho Laidi’s eyes lit up, suddenly lifting her head and nodding vigorously, ”Yes, yes, that’s right! I almost forgot about that! That medicated wine really did work wonders; even wealthy masters asked your Second Uncle for it!”

Chiang Baohe finally calmed down a bit, skeptical, ”That medicated wine really works that well? But I remember that it required old wild ginseng and venomous snakes; can my Second Uncle still find those?”

”How could he not find them? Have you forgotten? What mountain do we have around there?” Ho Laidi slapped her thigh, increasingly hopeful for his leg injury’s recovery.

”Are you talking about Bai Gu Mountain?”

”Exactly, Bai Gu Mountain! That mountain has all sorts of treasures! It’s just that people dare not venture deep into it. If you go deep enough, you’re sure to find ginseng and those snakes,” Ho Laidi stated with certainty.

She didn’t consider that if those items were so easy to obtain, why had Chiang Songhai only managed to produce a jar of Shuangzhen Wine in his lifetime.

And if it were that easy, why hadn’t anyone dared to go up Bai Gu Mountain over the years?

”In his attempt to catch that snake, didn’t my Second Uncle nearly get bitten to death?” Chiang Baohe wasn’t expressing concern for Chiang Songhai but was afraid that if his uncle got bitten to death, there’d be no one to prepare the medicated wine.

”But in the end, he didn’t die from the bite, did he! You’re his own nephew, and your dad saved his life back in the day. He can’t just ignore you, can he?” Ho Laidi stood up, ”Let’s get discharged right now and go find Chiang Laoer.”
