Supreme Warrior in the City

Heavenly Sect said coldly, ”Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer, sooner or later I’ll personally kill them. But right now, my target is you. Su Yang, since you’re so confident, do you dare fight me one-on-one?”

Su Yang gave a cold laugh. ”One-on-one? You sure about that?”

”What, getting scared?” Heavenly Sect sneered. ”If you’re afraid, just say so. I can let you off this once. After all, you’re nothing but a lowly ant!”

”Hahaha…” Su Yang threw his head back and laughed. ”Afraid? That’s impossible. I just think that fighting you is really too unsporting a win. So I want to give you a chance—you can take back what you said before. Otherwise later, when you’re begging your own people to help you, won’t that be utterly disgraceful? You are Heavenly Sect, son of the First God, and also a Strongest. Can you afford that kind of humiliation?”

”Ridiculous!” Heavenly Sect roared in fury. ”What the hell do you think you are, to dare talk to me like that? I’d lose to you? Su, you’d better worry about yourself first. Once the fight really starts, don’t you kneel on the ground and beg for mercy!”

”Lord Heavenly Sect, you’re that confident?” Su Yang smiled and said loudly, ”Everyone of the Human Clan, listen up—since Heavenly Sect keeps insisting, I can only accept the challenge. But before that, I need to make this clear. My battle with Heavenly Sect is a fair duel, a private grudge between the two of us. So no matter how the fight goes, everyone of the Human Clan is forbidden to interfere!”

The people on the Human Clan’s side all looked at each other. Was Su Yang really this confident?

But thinking of how Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer had treated Su Yang before, their hearts were still full of confidence in him.

”Good!” The Human Clan all shouted in unison, voicing their support for Su Yang.

Su Yang looked at Heavenly Sect opposite him with a faint smile. Heavenly Sect’s brows furrowed; Su Yang’s confidence suddenly made a flicker of doubt rise in his own heart.

Yet no matter how he thought it through, Heavenly Sect still didn’t believe he would lose.

Although Su Yang’s aura now wasn’t weak, in his eyes Su Yang was ultimately just a junior of later generations. From the very beginning, Su Yang’s strength had been far inferior to theirs. Even though he’d progressed at a terrifying speed over these years, he still couldn’t compare to them, those former powerhouses.

What’s more, Heavenly Sect had once been a Strongest. It was only in the Ancient war that Heaven Slayer destroyed his foundation, forcing him to start cultivating from scratch. But his experience and vision were far beyond ordinary people. Even among others at the Peak of Earth-level, he was absolutely the strongest!

A Strongest at the Peak of Earth-level is not something other Peak of Earth-level cultivators can contend with.

So Heavenly Sect was extremely confident that among everyone present, he was unquestionably the strongest.

The reason he forced Su Yang into a one-on-one duel was first to avenge the devouring of his palace, and second to kill Su Yang in front of everyone to shatter the Human Clan’s morale.

Now that Su Yang had agreed to a solo fight with him, there was no way he himself would turn coward and not dare to fight.

Heavenly Sect drew in a deep breath and boomed, ”All of the Divine Race, hear my command—this battle is a life-and-death duel between me and Su Yang. No matter the result, it is a matter for the two of us alone. No one is allowed to intervene!”

”Good!” The Guardian Gods on this side all shouted in support, rallying behind Heavenly Sect.

In their eyes, there was no reason Heavenly Sect would lose to Su Yang, so their support was absolute.

”Hahaha…” Su Yang laughed loudly. ”Lord Heavenly Sect, don’t be so absolute with your words. Isn’t it better to leave yourself a way out?”

”You’d better think about your own way out first!” Heavenly Sect said coldly. ”Su, today I’ll definitely kill you!”

With that said, Heavenly Sect charged straight forward, surging with aggressive power as he pounced at Su Yang.

Su Yang stopped smiling and flew into the central battlefield as well, clashing head-on with Heavenly Sect.

The moment Heavenly Sect exchanged blows with Su Yang, he sensed something was wrong. Su Yang’s strength had clearly advanced to the Peak of Earth-level. More crucially, Su Yang’s power was terrifyingly strong—so strong that it actually made Heavenly Sect feel a trace of panic.

Heavenly Sect struck with full power, yet could only fight to a draw against Su Yang’s power. This was something he had never expected.

How could Su Yang’s strength have grown so fast?

Even so, Heavenly Sect didn’t panic much.

Among cultivators of the same realm, raw power is indeed important. But combat skills and the Secret Techniques you’ve learned are just as critical.

Heavenly Sect, after all, had once been a Strongest; in these aspects, he far surpassed Su Yang.

As for Su Yang, he only had the Illusions of Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer in his body. But Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer had once been at the same realm as Heavenly Sect. Under such circumstances, how could Heavenly Sect possibly fear Su Yang?

After fighting for a while, Heavenly Sect began to unleash his own unique Secret Techniques. While besieging Su Yang, he also kept a wary guard up against the Illusions within Su Yang’s body.

In his view, what he truly needed to fear were the Buddha Venerable Sky Slayer Illusions inside Su Yang; everything else was irrelevant. As for Su Yang himself, he didn’t take him seriously at all!

But very soon, he realized something was off.

His Secret Technique had already trapped Su Yang within it, yet it couldn’t injure Su Yang in the slightest. Su Yang’s physical resilience was far beyond his expectations.

And the key point was, although Su Yang was trapped inside this Secret Technique, he still hadn’t summoned the Buddha Venerable Sky Slayer Illusions to fight back. This had never happened before.

You have to know, Su Yang’s own strength was actually quite average. In every major battle, his main means of fighting was using the Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer Illusions to face his enemies. This time, with Su Yang not summoning those Illusions—what was going on?

What Heavenly Sect didn’t know was that Su Yang wasn’t choosing not to summon the Illusions—he simply couldn’t.

After he advanced to the Peak of Earth-level, the Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer Illusions left. Now, only Su Yang remained.

Faced with Heavenly Sect’s powerful Secret Technique, Su Yang really couldn’t break it for the moment.

If the Buddha Venerable Sky Slayer Illusions were still here, this Secret Technique would be nothing. But now, with only himself left, it was a bit tricky.

Carefully recalling the Secret Techniques recorded in the Heavenly Destiny Treasure Book, Su Yang still couldn’t find any that truly suited him.

Inside were many Secret Techniques belonging to Buddha Venerable and Heaven Slayer. When their Illusions were in Su Yang’s body, he could wield those Secret Techniques with ease. But with the Illusions gone, it became much more troublesome for Su Yang to use them.

Or rather, many Secret Techniques simply couldn’t be used by Su Yang alone at all.

For example, that Devouring the World Secret Technique—when Su Yang used it before, it was effortless, because the Heaven Slayer Illusion would cooperate with him in casting the Devouring Secret Technique.

But now, when Su Yang tried to use this Secret Technique again, he ran into an enormous problem!
