Chapter 213: Chapter 141: Ferocious Dragon Crossing the River, Another Excellent Citizen Title?_3

If it were in the past, Zhang Beixing would have been overwhelmed with sympathy and gone over to console that girl.

But now, Too bad!

After practicing martial arts, his heart had become as cold as a utility pole in the dead of winter!

The main reason, of course, was that someone else was already walking towards the most beautiful girl there.

I have no chance!

”What a pity, what a pity!” Zhang Beixing sighed. He didn’t like used cream puffs, especially one that was being ’freshly made’ by someone else right in front of him.

With that thought, he turned around, ready to continue following Liu Yi to Tiananmen.

However, before he could take a step, he sensed something amiss.

How could that man up ahead pass by that beautiful girl without any reaction, not even a sideways glance, and just walk straight toward us?

Huh? Such self-control? Has he already entered sage mode?

Zhang Beixing found this rather interesting. He took a closer look at the man but suddenly frowned slightly, feeling something was not quite right. This man is strange!

At first glance, he appeared to be an ordinary office worker. But upon closer observation, several things seemed off.

It’s the middle of summer, and it’s not even cold at night. Why wear an autumn trench coat? Who are you trying to impress this late at night by showing off?

Through the outline of the trench coat, Zhang Beixing could vaguely see something bulging at the man’s waist. This, combined with his occasional sideways glances and the faint murderous intent in his eyes, made him stand out.

To others, it might have seemed like nothing. But to Zhang Beixing, a Martial Artist whose Spiritual Power had reached 105, this man stuck out like a sore thumb—like a single flame in the dead of night, a turd in a box of chocolates, or the one chicken in the coop that could play basketball.

”He’s strange,” Zhang Beixing whispered his assessment.

Hearing this, Liu Yi was startled and followed Zhang Beixing’s gaze. Upon seeing the man, Liu Yi’s brows furrowed slightly.

”He is a bit odd.”

After saying that, he seemed to realize something. Looking at Zhang Beixing, he warned, ”Kid, don’t you go stirring up trouble. Although that man is a bit odd, that’s all it is—odd. He hasn’t done anything. Don’t mess around!”

Hearing this, Zhang Beixing nodded, but his gaze remained fixed on the man, observing him warily.

Under Zhang Beixing’s watchful eyes, the distance between them gradually closed—ten meters... seven meters... five meters...

The furtive man seemed to notice Zhang Beixing’s intense gaze and frowned slightly. Then, when he was just three meters away from Zhang Beixing and Liu Yi, his stride changed, and he deliberately walked around them, passing by their side.

He didn’t act strangely at all as he passed.

But Zhang Beixing’s frown deepened.

During the brief moment they passed each other, despite the subtlety of the movement, Zhang Beixing had discerned an object swaying at the man’s waist.

It must be a knife!

Paired with the man’s trench coat, Zhang Beixing suddenly understood. He had been wondering why someone would wear a trench coat on the street late at night just to show off.

Now it seems showing off was just a minor factor; the trench coat was mostly for concealment! It prevented people from noticing what was at his waist!

”Teacher Liu, what kind of person carries a knife around?” Zhang Beixing asked, lowering his voice so only he and Liu Yi could hear, as he watched the man walk about five or six meters away.

Hearing this, Liu Yi raised an eyebrow. ”Carrying a knife? What kind of decent person does that? They’re either a lunatic or a crook...”

”Wait, what are you implying?” Liu Yi suddenly realized something was amiss, his expression turning serious.

Zhang Beixing nodded. ”Exactly. But I’m not quite sure of his identity yet. How about we follow him for a bit and see?”

”This...” Liu Yi murmured, hesitating, feeling uneasy.

Noticing his hesitation, Zhang Beixing said, ”Teacher Liu, we’ll just follow him, not necessarily confront him. Besides, what if he’s not a problem and I’m just mistaken? We can just treat it as a stroll; it’s still a while before the flag-raising ceremony.”

”And what if he really is a problem?” Liu Yi asked.

”Is that even a question? If he’s really a problem, we’ll call the police, of course! Let them handle it. Worst-case scenario, even if there isn’t enough time to call the police and he spots us, it’ll just be a fight. We definitely can’t handle someone with a gun, but surely you’re not afraid of someone with a knife, are you, Teacher Liu? Security in Yanjing is so tight; there’s no way there are armed thugs around.”

Zhang Beixing finished, but feeling his argument still lacked something, he added, ”Teacher Liu, from what I learned yesterday afternoon, the shantytowns in Yanjing have the second-highest population, just after Tiantongyuan. If someone like him decides to cause trouble there, it would be a catastrophe! If we can stop him, wouldn’t that be a great service?”

”Think about it: bravely fighting an armed thug, nipping evil in the bud! At your age, you certainly can’t be a youth representative like me, but even if they don’t name you an Outstanding Citizen, you’d at least get a Good Samaritan Award, right?”

Those words were a direct hit—a checkmate! Especially as Liu Yi got older.
