Chapter 135: Chapter 122: The Highlight Moment Has Arrived

Thinking of this, Chen Rourou couldn’t help feeling indignant. Even the donkey from the production team wouldn’t be driven this hard.

Hearing Chen Rourou’s deeply resentful comment, Chen Fenghua decisively chose to ignore it. After all, he wasn’t entirely in the right regarding this matter. But that wasn’t important. What mattered was that Chen Rourou had actually mastered the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade so proficiently! That was truly unbelievable!

Chen Fenghua remembered it clearly. It was on the fifteenth of last month that he’d discovered Chen Rourou had learned the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade. At that time, although Chen Rourou had grasped the mystery of Qi, she was far from proficient in the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade. Not only did her form look unnatural, but she also occasionally made minor mistakes.

But now, 23 days had passed—not even a full month—and Chen Rourou had called him, saying she had mastered the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade and could return home to see Elder Chen.

Damn... Chen Fenghua couldn’t help but think about his own martial arts training experiences when he was young. If he remembered correctly, back then, under Elder Chen’s tough training—a blend of hits and kicks—it had taken him nearly two months to master all eight movements of the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade smoothly. At that time, he had considered himself quite the prodigy, being the first among his four brothers to learn the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade. Now, compared to Chen Rourou...

”Rourou, are you sure you’ve done it?” Believing that important matters should be confirmed three times, Chen Fenghua, to be safe, turned his head while sitting in the car to look at Chen Rourou and asked again.

Chen Rourou was somewhat speechless. She said, ”Don’t worry, Dad. I really, really have done it. It’s just mastering the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade; what’s so hard about that? Once you’ve grasped the essence, anyone with hands, even a child, could learn it within a month. It’s nothing to make a fuss about. More importantly, you haven’t told Grandpa that I’ve learned the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade during this time, have you?”

She had endured all those extra training sessions with Zhang Beixing, getting scolded like a grunt every day. She’d finally mastered the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade with his guidance and her own talent. If her father spilled the beans now, she would really give him a piece of her mind!

Upon hearing this, Chen Fenghua’s face twitched. For a moment, he couldn’t tell if Chen Rourou was humblebragging or subtly mocking him. Being born without hands, he truly felt sorry, he thought. But what he didn’t know was that while Chen Rourou’s talent was a factor in her rapid learning, the more significant reason was the guidance of a skilled master behind her!

Chen Fenghua managed an awkward yet polite smile. Then he replied, ”I didn’t tell!”

”That’s good then. Hee hee, I just can’t wait to give Grandpa a huge surprise now,” Chen Rourou said cheerfully, her smile returning. Thinking of Grandpa’s astonished expression after watching her perform the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade, her mood, which Chen Fenghua had somewhat deflated, suddenly became buoyant.

Hmph, what’s the use of hiding it and not teaching? she thought quite smugly, sitting in the back seat of the car. In the end, I still learned it! And all that nonsense about passing it down only to sons and not to daughters—I, a girl, learned it, and look, nothing bad happened! It’s all just outdated customs!

Just as she was immersed in her own world, over half an hour passed. The car stopped steadily at the entrance of the Chen Family Manor.

After the Steward informed them that Elder Chen was currently resting in his bedroom, Chen Fenghua took Chen Rourou to see him. They knocked on the door, and after Elder Chen indicated they could enter, Chen Fenghua and Chen Rourou went in.

Seeing the father and daughter arrive, Elder Chen was taken aback. He then looked past Chen Fenghua, his gaze settling on Chen Rourou, and said with a smile, ”Oh, isn’t that Rourou? I heard from Fenghua that you’ve been busy with something lately. Have you finally finished?”

”I’ve finished, Grandpa. As soon as I was done, I came straight back to see you,” Chen Rourou replied with a grin.

”Ha ha ha, at least you’re considerate. But what have you been so busy with? You haven’t been home for almost a month; your grandpa is really curious!” Elder Chen said, his face full of curiosity.

”Hee hee, naturally, I’ve prepared a surprise for you!”

”Oh? A surprise? What kind of surprise? Don’t tell me Rourou, you’ve already started dating that young Zhang?” Elder Chen stroked his beard and asked, his face alight with curiosity. If that were the case, it would indeed be a tremendous surprise for him.

Unexpectedly, upon hearing his words, Chen Rourou’s face fell. She huffily turned her head to the side, feigning anger.

Seeing her reaction, Elder Chen was momentarily stunned. Then he chuckled knowingly, picked up his teacup, brought it to his lips, and looked at Chen Fenghua. ”Fenghua,” he said, ”since Rourou doesn’t want to say, you tell me. What is this surprise Rourou has been preparing for me?”

Chen Fenghua nodded. ”Dad,” he began, ”the surprise Rourou has prepared for you is that she, through her own talent, has taught herself and mastered the Northern Sect’s Eight Pieces of Brocade!”

CRACK!

”What?” Upon hearing this, Elder Chen was so shocked that his hand trembled, and the teacup slipped from his grasp, falling to the ground and shattering.
