Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

【The drama ”The Imperial Empire” is absolutely fantastic! Xiao He’s acting is phenomenal once again! No wonder he’s swept film and television awards; his performance in the drama is completely that of Emperor Chen himself—he’s ridiculously handsome!】

【I don’t think this is acting anymore; it’s like the Emperor himself has taken over. I suggest Linghui Entertainment take their boss to see a master. I even think Xiao He’s appearance in the drama has changed; he really has a bit of a dragon aura.】

【Haha, indeed, indeed. It’s hard to imagine that you, Brother Xiao, used to play a psychopathic killer. Netizens even did some face reading, saying that Brother Xiao’s personality must be terrible. But now you’re playing Emperor Shangchen, and your face really looks like you could be an emperor if you just washed it.】

【It’s really hard to imagine that Xiao He would enjoy playing Emperor Chen so much, and the plot is also very interesting, completely shattering my stereotypes about historical dramas.】

【I never expected historical dramas to be so interesting; I watched it like a pure entertainment show! I was really reading the script with historical facts in mind, and this is the first time I’ve truly appreciated the charm of this type of drama.】

【To be honest, Emperor Chen’s life is truly a feel-good drama, right? If it weren’t for his overpowered abilities, like prematurely establishing a military-industrial complex to strengthen the nation, which led to his being penalized by the heavens, he probably would have actually succeeded in his grand undertaking. In that case, instead of saying I’d kill the foreigners, I’d be the one shining their shoes!】

【Haha, damn it! Now that you mention it, I’m really angry! If Qin Zhuo had lived a few more years, he wouldn’t be in this state. The main problem is that he most likely died from overwork due to constantly staying up late. If I were to travel back in time, I wouldn’t know how to save him. Besides going out to find meteorites like in the novel ”Yu Ye,” I really wouldn’t have any other options.】

【In that case, I suggest Yin Qi take the meteorite and give it to Emperor Chen. Anyway, Yin Qi is no good; he killed all my precious treasures. Such a scourge will be infamous for a thousand years, so he can live on. Such a precious treasure as the meteorite fragments should be given to someone who needs them more!】

【I’m dying of laughter! How can this be linked to ”Yu Ye”? But speaking of which, Xiao He does play both Emperor Chen and Yin Qi, but these two characters feel completely different. He’s truly amazing; his face-changing acting is incredible.】

【Stop talking nonsense, why are there only four episodes airing today? Who do you think ”The Imperial Empire” is looking down on? Give us ten more episodes to fill our teeth.】

【Reporting on the false marketing of ”The Imperial Empire”! I’m watching for Emperor Chen, but why did the first four episodes only feature the young general? Is this what I wanted to see? I suggest you release the entire plot about him becoming emperor right away.】

【I almost couldn’t stop the knife from hitting that one.】

...

After watching the first episode of ”The Imperial Empire”, the viewership of the second episode also soared. Even when it was broadcast on CCTV during the corresponding time slot, the ratings did not drop but rose instead. In fact, the ratings for all four episodes throughout the night continued to rise, giving a feeling of returning to the peak of television. This is a ratings effect that CCTV itself has not achieved for a long time.

Xiao He’s character, Qin Zhuo, didn’t appear much in the first episode, but he was very present throughout. He accurately grasped human nature and gave orders, successfully protecting the city during the lockdown and launching a counterattack to seize control of the situation.

On the contrary, the audience was terrified, watching the situation from other people’s perspectives. No matter how they thought about it, they felt there was no solution. If this city were to be breached, everyone would be doomed. Even Qin Zhuo himself would not be able to leave and would likely be wiped out.

However, the inevitability of history has already told us that the final outcome was that Qin Zhuo would achieve great success, and even eventually become emperor.

Thinking about it this way, it really is a satisfying drama!

Even a thrilling drama where everyone has a script!

What ”The Imperial Empire” aims to do is not merely to describe this part of the plot in a straightforward manner, but to explain one thing from various perspectives: the world is in chaos, heroes and outstanding figures emerge, and various forces rise and fight, each a major figure of that era, each a powerful character who could stand alone in history. But why does Qin Zhuo win in the end? Why is it that he alone can win?

This kind of back-and-forth brainstorming and intellectual battle is what best showcases the charm of the characters.

This kind of character development is something that’s hard to find in many dramas these days—after all, it requires a lot of brainpower!

This shows that screenwriter Qin truly loves and admires Emperor Chen.

This part of the plot is only briefly mentioned in many ancient books or historical records, and it has not appeared in other TV dramas related to this history. It really depends on screenwriter Qin burning his brain cells.

Not to mention the audience, even Xiao He himself couldn’t help but want to comfort screenwriter Qin’s hair after reading the script.

Fortunately, screenwriter Qin’s efforts paid off.

The right actors combined with a great script will definitely produce results greater than the sum of their parts.

Even some film and television bloggers who had been observing the situation have given relatively recommended film and television reviews.

”I can only say that the first person to think of watching historical dramas as entertainment dramas was a genius.” Tiger said very sincerely, ”The last entertainment drama I watched when I was a kid was Kangzi’s incognito visit. Do you guys understand the value of that?”

”The Imperial Empire is truly a work made with sincerity from top to bottom. You can even clearly see their efforts and dedication in this work.”

”Whether it’s costumes, props, actors, or script, I think this is a top-notch lineup that our domestic dramas haven’t reached in a long time.”

”You can hardly imagine that in the early scripts featuring Emperor Chen, there was actually a version of Emperor Chen who was obsessed with love, willing to die for a woman, even abandoning the world for her. His untimely death was explained as suffering from depression, so he went to join the female lead early...”

”Oh, right, you can even see the main villain, Emperor Chen—you mean, a great emperor who competes for the emperor’s favor with the idol male lead from a time-travel drama, but loses in the finale and chooses to let the male and female leads go and travel back to the modern world to live happily ever after, while he dies from overwork in ancient times and eventually travels back to the modern world to witness the happy love between the male and female leads?”

”Some screenwriters of domestically produced dramas! If we’re talking about ruthlessness, none of them are as ruthless as you guys!”

Tiger, who was getting angrier and angrier, couldn’t help but slam his hand on the table.

”You guys even managed to make a big deal out of Emperor Chen’s untimely death. Either he died young from poisoning because of the female lead, or he died young from illness caused by missing the female lead, and finally, this one, so that he could travel to the modern world as soon as possible to witness the happiness of the male and female leads, so without any explanation or foreshadowing, he just collapsed and died and then traveled to the modern world...”

”So can you understand the pain I felt when, in order to give a better and more neutral evaluation of ’The Imperial Empire,’ I went and did a thorough review of all the film and television works related to Emperor Chen in the history of the Chinese entertainment industry, only to almost have them rejected?”

”I think sometimes work injuries really do happen this way.”

Tiger’s final words were heavy.

”Some screenwriters of domestically produced dramas—you really should compensate me some money.”
