Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

After the ceremony, Old Master Qian did not linger. He greeted Xiao He and then left with the other younger members of the Qian family.

After seeing off Old Master Qian and the others, Xiao He also fell into deep thought.

Standing atop the high-rise building, watching the tourists coming and going at the museum entrance, Xiao He finally took out his phone and dialed Liu Rulan’s number.

”Hello? Have Mr. Qian and the others already left?”

Liu Rulan seemed to have been waiting for this, and the first thing she asked after answering the phone was this question.

”Yes, they’ve already left. I originally wanted to ask them to stay for a meal before they left, but it’s not convenient now, so I could only personally escort them to the back entrance of the museum.”

Xiao He leaned lazily against the railing, briefly recounted the day’s events to Liu Rulan, and then couldn’t help but ask, ”Has Brother Tong... contacted you?”

Liu Rulan was taken aback for a moment, then couldn’t help but tease, ”What? Did you set your sights on Tong Junhui’s script after hearing that the higher-ups were leaning towards realistic works in the future?”

Xiao He coughed awkwardly, ”Old Qian was just saying that casually. Who doesn’t know that realistic works are more likely to win awards these days? I just happened to remember that.”

To be honest, everyone knows that realistic works that reflect social issues are more likely to win awards, but how many good scripts are there these days?

Many censorship processes have now been relaxed, and even a script like ”No Bait” has finally ”successfully passed” after a decade-long tug-of-war. However, there are very few scripts that can pass censorship without any pain.

And because of the current fast-paced way of making money, companies often don’t have the time to give scripts many opportunities to be revised repeatedly. Basically, once it is confirmed that the script is too difficult to revise, it is directly screened out, and no time is given to revise the script at all.

As a result, domestic capital has gradually become more inclined to use foreign scripts, even those with similar realistic themes and social issues. Since these scripts have already been approved and entered the mainland market and market preferences have been confirmed, domestic capital can simply pick up ready-made ones without having to bear other risks.

So now, looking around, these kinds of films either have their entire scripts cut off, or they’ve been completely altered, leaving only a painless, whiny ending, or they’ve simply copied foreign films and mindlessly followed the trend to remake them.

So Xiao He now truly believes that it is indeed quite good that this kind of original script can be written, but it is truly amazing if it can pass the censorship and be filmed!

As for Tong Junhui’s script, what Xiao He is now interested in is not just the subject matter itself, but the possibility that Tong’s script can be directly adapted into a film.

Perhaps it’s because Tong Junhui has gained experience as a reporter, and has been reporting on such sensitive social news for many years, so Xiao He felt that Brother Tong seemed to have automatically mastered the secret of navigating the censorship red line.

The script might encounter some setbacks during the review process, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.

”I know.”

Liu Rulan calmly responded, ”Actually, Tong Junhui called me a few days ago to talk, but he plans to discuss the details with me in person. So I’m going back to Shanghai in the next few days. During the promotional period for ’The Emperor’s Ambition’, please take good care of yourself.”

”OK.”

Xiao He initially agreed, but then became somewhat doubtful.

Does this mean that Brother Tong doesn’t want to see him first?

But perhaps because they both had their own pride and convictions, Xiao He only needed to think for a moment to roughly guess Tong Junhui’s feelings.

It’s the same carefully crafted script, but others still have the opportunity to perform it, while I was eliminated from the very beginning and have no chance at all.

If it were him, he would also be very unwilling.

Although acting wasn’t Xiao He’s primary dream, he had already built up so much success and achievement. If he were to give it up at the peak of his career, he might truly regret it for the rest of his life.

Xiao He paused for a moment, then didn’t ask any more questions. He simply repeated with certainty, ”I really like and appreciate Brother Tong’s script. Please be sure to convey my thoughts to him. Linghui Entertainment welcomes him back anytime and needs his help very much.”

Liu Rulan chuckled lightly, as if she had already guessed Xiao He’s thoughts, and readily agreed.

This matter was temporarily handed over to Sister Liu to handle.

That evening, ”The Imperial Empire” officially premiered.

-

Emperor Qingchao, whose real name was Qin Zhuo, came from a poor family and joined the army at a young age. He rose through the ranks in the chaotic world, repeatedly defeating powerful enemies and achieving great feats. He became a renowned young general.

After the world fell into chaos and the state collapsed, he relied on his iron-fisted military might and great talent to sweep away the warlords of the chaotic world, pacify the four seas and restore the land, and finally ascended the throne to become emperor, creating a unified dynasty.

The story of ”The Imperial Empire” begins with the first battle he participated in as a young man.

Although Qin Zhuo’s family had fallen on hard times, he was still a member of a noble family and still had some family influence. Even if he joined the army, he would not actually go to the battlefield, but would be in a position similar to a border staff officer. Although he showed outstanding military talent and intelligence at a very young age, he had almost no say and no military power or real authority because of his young age.

Yet, it was precisely under these circumstances that he successfully shed his image as a behind-the-scenes ”strategist” through a difficult city-blockade battle, began to enter the formal front-line army, and gradually cultivated a group of comrades and confidants.

These people later became indispensable figures in his conquest of the world.

Although there is no conclusive historical evidence to date to prove that the battle was actually a power grab orchestrated by Qin Zhuo, the border regions were already in chaos at that time, with battles raging everywhere and the flames of rebellion intensifying. The fate of the empire was uncertain, so later scholars tend to believe that this was Qin Zhuo’s pre-planned scheme and arrangement.

However, people at that time still believed more in ”fate,” similar to ”destiny” or ”preordained.” Therefore, Qin Zhuo himself also said in his later ”Daily Chats” that it was ”by chance” or ”due to luck.”

How much of this was self-deprecation is unknown.

However, since the script for ”The Imperial Empire” was written by a screenwriter who is a die-hard fan of Emperor Chen, in order to maintain his idol’s prestige and prove his talent and strength, the screenwriter Qin naturally put his heart and soul into the creation, trying his best to restore the truth of the time, and dedicated himself to showing the aura of Qin Zhuo as the behind-the-scenes ”big boss” and creating a character image that is closer to the historical figure himself.

So, to be honest, although ”The Imperial Empire” is a historical drama, and the subject matter alone makes it seem like the kind of work that would make people very sleepy, the opening of the first episode, with its undercurrents between various forces in the city, the behind-the-scenes manipulators using each other’s strengths to subtly consolidate power and command, and the satisfying feeling of reaping the benefits later, immediately whetted everyone’s appetite.

Only then did everyone remember something—

That’s right, aside from the fact that Emperor Chen died young, his life was basically a wish-fulfillment story!

People who don’t like historical dramas are in luck! This is a great show to watch while eating, perfect for an entertaining viewing experience!
