Beastmaster of the Ages

The nine beastfaces on the tensource beast and the beast itself let out deafening roars! Despite the toxin in its body, the strongest lifebound beast in the astralscape’s cry shook the world and shocked all beastkind. It was too bad that House Yumo and House Suishen didn’t have lifebound beasts at all, so it was nothing more than a futile act of friendly fire.

The valley lord and his beast continued retreating toward Qitian Cave. With Yumo Diyan holding him back, however, it took less than a minute for the figures of fire and frost to close the distance and intercept him!

”You two!” The valley lord glared at the women. ”What do you think you’re doing? Who do you women think you are?!”

”What we think doesn’t matter as long as we can send a foul crook like you to the afterlife,” Suishen Xiyue said, ten redlotus flaregods burning bright above her.

”Hahahaha!” The valley lord immediately tried circling around them. He couldn’t care less about the members of his house or his own children. Who could have imagined that he would have to run away in such a haggard fashion?

He was powerful, but there was no room for him to show his true power with so many people ganging up on him. His attempt to flee had also caused all those who were on his side to lose morale. Seeing it convinced them that their valley lord truly had no cards left to play.

With Suishen Hongtian dead, how could the plan to take over House Suishen still work out? The pride and self-satisfaction that the Qitians had felt turned into terror and manic rage at the hands of two women. No matter how they felt, facing off against the blazing House Yumo and freezing House Suishen only meant certain death.

”Run!” They no longer cared about maintaining their troop formations. House Qitian’s members had completely lost their will to fight and wanted nothing more than to escape to Qitian Cave. The only hope left was to regroup behind the safety of their barrier formation and fend off the attack of House Yumo and House Suishen.

Going from loftiness over the so-called legacies to being beaten down like dogs was too much of a contrast. It was the horrible consequence of the valley lord’s highly exaggerated claims. It would be a miracle if any of them were still able to stay sane after experiencing such a severe mental whiplash.

Many eminents and reverends from august and sacred houses witnessed the sight and shook their heads in resignation, immensely looking down on House Qitian. In the same vein, their evaluation of House Suishen rose higher and higher. All of Myriadpath Valley was truly convinced of their supremacy over everyone else.

Most blinding of all were Suishen Xiyue and Suishen Jiguang, who dared face off against the valley lord. The others joined the battle when they saw the two women’s fighting spirit, attempting to encircle the rest from House Qitian. It was clear that they were rising up for the Suishens, not the starblood-refining Yumos!

House Suishen was the only one among the Three Exalted Houses to not have any significant stains on their reputation. Not to mention, the new generation of elites, Eminents Ranxing, Jiguang, and Xiyue, had given the two million normal cultivators of Myriadpath Valley hope for a new future. And in the next generation, they also had Pathkeeper Li.

There was no stronger lineup than that.

”As long as Eminents Jiguang and Xiyue manage to deal with the valley lord, House Suishen is almost certainly going to take over!” Outsiders didn’t know of the friction between the women and Suishen Ranxing and thought they were on the same side. That misunderstanding, however, worked wonders to reinforce their faith in the cause.

”Even though they lost Suishen Hongtian and only have four major-zenith foundationeers, he was always going to be an obstacle anyway, given how problematic he was. Losing him was a good thing for House Suishen.”

”There’s no way the old patriarch would allow him to be killed by his own daughter and daughter-in-law if he could be helped, at any rate.”

”Enough talking! Look! They’re taking on the tensource beast!”

”Yumo Diyan was facing a lot of pressure because of the tensource beast’s relentless attacks. Now that the beast is diverted, he seems to be having a much easier time!”

Everyone watched as the distance between the two battles widened. Yumo Diyan continued charging toward the valley lord in his specter form, fueled by hate. Suishen Jiguang and Suishen Xiyue held back the tensource beast, ganging up on it like they had Suishen Hongtian.

”Go! Go!” The valley lord couldn’t deal with his own foe, let alone help out his lifebound beast! The two Suishens had intentionally separated them to weaken each individually. After all, beastmasters were only able to use their full potential when fighting alongside their beasts!

Though the fight had begun at the altar where all three houses had been gathered at, it’d spread far and wide. Some Qitians managed to retreat back to Qitian Cave, only to see the carnage that was unfolding at the center of Myriadpath Valley.

Qitian Muyu and the other three major-zenith foundationeers fought as they retreated without forcing it. But when they saw the valley lord and his beast being separated, they began panicking, yet there was nothing they could do! Suishen Ranxing, the old patriarch, and Yumo Dinai would never let them help the valley lord!

”If your sister and wife can heavily wound the valley lord, they’ll make your path ahead much easier! Nobody but the valley lord is your greatest threat right now,” the old patriarch reminded his son.

”I got it,” Suishen Ranxing coldly said. He was fighting Qitian Muyu, the second strongest in House Qitian. Qitian Muyu had always had an edge over him, but this time around, he couldn’t escape Suishen Ranxing no matter how hard he tried.

”Suishen Ranxing, is your house trying to dominate?” Qitian Muyu angrily said, staring at him.

”What? Are we not allowed to?” Suishen Ranxing said.

”If House Qitian and House Yumo are weakened, do you think you alone will be able to keep all of Myriadpath Valley under your rule?”

”I suppose you’ll have to see for yourself... if you’re lucky enough to survive, that is.” Suishen Ranxing’s eyes were filled with unshakeable determination.

Qitian Muyu furrowed his brow when he noticed that his foe had a conviction that was totally different from before. He seemed to have a sovereign air about him, appearing much more terrifying than the vengeance-filled Yumo Diyan. As he thought that, he suddenly heard shocked cries coming from the crowd. Suishen Jiguang and Suishen Xiyue’s fight against the tensource beast had reached its climax.

”Go! You can’t even take care of yourself now, let alone your dad!” his ninesource beast kirin cried.

”Fine!” Qitian Muyu used his most potent escape technique. The battle still continued moving in the direction of Qitian Cave as more and more Qitians managed to flee there. The tensource beast, who couldn’t flee even if it wanted to, became the center of attention of the battlefield, its roars bright and clear.
