Beastmaster of the Ages

”Quick, retreat!” The spectators immediately felt the fractures between the Three Exalted Houses. Now that a chaotic battle had broken out, their first thought was to get far, far away. Even many from august and sacred houses quickly distanced themselves.

Both House Yumo and House Qitian felt a tinge of disappointment, but they accepted it since at least the spectators weren’t interfering in the battle. They would deal with the fence sitters after settling the main conflict.

Thus, the main variable became House Suishen!

In terms of mid- and lower-level combat strength, Houses Qitian and Yumo were fairly evenly matched. However, at the highest levels, House Qitian—with the addition of Suishen Hongtian—far outmatched House Yumo. If Yumo Diyan and Yumo Dinai were defeated, their house would be left headless and the rest would only face death.

Thousands of Qitian and Yumo eminents and reverends clashed in a fierce brawl. Divine abilities flew and blades clashed.

”Dad, if we don’t act soon and both Yumo leaders fall, the valley lord will appoint a more obedient leader for our own house,” Eminent Jiguang said with knitted brows. Naturally, Suishen Hongtian would be the one to rise to the occasion.

But her words were actually directed at her other brother, Suishen Ranxing.

”Is there a better opportunity to weaken both House Qitian and Yumo than now?” Suishen Cang’s eyes burned with intensity.

Many House Suishen eminents around him also felt a surge of excitement. They had initially planned to sit back and watch the show, but House Yumo couldn’t hold on. In a three-way struggle, the strongest side must first be weakened to give the remaining two a chance to rise.

The old patriarch and Suishen Ranxing exchanged a glance. At the same moment, they received a message via transmission stone from Suishen Cave. “Hongtian sent people to kidnap Yaoyao and several other juniors to hand them over to House Qitian. But we have the situation under control,” Suishen Ling messaged.

The news was like a bombshell that completely exposed the conspiracy between Suishen Hongtian and House Qitian. It was also something that neither the old patriarch nor Suishen Ranxing had anticipated. Upon hearing the news, they broke into a cold sweat! Clearly, they didn’t understand Suishen Hongtian’s complete lack of a bottom line as well as Suishen Jiguang did.

The news finally pushed Eminent Ranxing into making a decision.

“All reverends, hear me! Fall back and regroup. Form a protective formation!” he loudly commanded.

The group momentarily hesitated, surprised at the retreat order in such circumstances. Did it mean they wouldn’t fight?

Just as questions arose, Eminent Ranxing, his eyes fierce and blazing, declared with the utmost authority, ”House Qitian, led by the valley lord, has openly defied the ancestral teachings and slaughtered our comrades. House Suishen must eliminate the traitors of Myriadpath Valley and restore its order! All eminents, heed my command: attack the House Qitian rebels!”

Even if he reached the super zenith in the future, killing the valley lord would remain a challenge. Thus, Yumo Diyan was right; today was the best opportunity they would ever have!

”Only the eminents will join?” The entire house immediately understood that Eminent Ranxing had some selfishness. House Suishen wouldn’t mobilize its reverends like the other two houses had. But that was enough, as it was top-end combatants that House Yumo desperately needed.

After all, if House Qitian were instantly crushed, how would they handle House Yumo afterward? They needed to ensure House Yumo made enough sacrifices taking down House Qitian.

Suishen Ranxing wasn’t worried that the fight might lead to the Three Exalted Houses losing control over Myriadpath Valley, as he was supremely confident in his future as a super-zenith foundationeer.

“Yes, sir!” The eminents joined Ranxing and the old patriarch and charged toward the battlefield. The battle swiftly shifted with the mighty totemancers joining the fray.

Remaining neutral had kept House Suishen free of grudges, which allowed them more choices and control over the situation. Their powerful combatants focused solely on attacking House Qitian.

An epic clash of totems, specters, and myriadpath source beasts erupted, scarring the land that had been fortified with countless formations. Eminents and reverends alike rapidly fell on the brutal field of slaughter.

Amidst the chaos, the silver-haired valley lord had anticipated House Suishen’s intervention, along with the fact that they wouldn’t deploy their entire force. Such was the selfishness of human nature. ”And they think they can take down my house this way?” he darkly chuckled, still waiting for good news from Suishen Hongtian.

Due to the operation falling through, though, no one had communicated Suishen Jinxuan’s failure to him yet.

”Qitian Xiao!” Suddenly, a massive, menacing figure enveloped in black and white smoke charged directly at the valley lord. It was Yumo Diyan! For the sake of revenge, he boldly dared to challenge the valley lord himself.

”Today, we avenge House Yumo!” The half black, half white baleful aura of an impermanence variant specter surged. The senior madame had already been old and in decline, making him the current true apex powerhouse of House Yumo.

His first attack forced the valley lord to stagger back, confirming to everyone that the valley lord truly wasn’t at his peak.

”The lawless shall be executed!”

With that, both House Yumo and House Suishen could fight without restraint.

“Yumo Dinai, I’m here for your life!” Qitian Baba confidently intercepted the greathorn variant specter, Yumo Dinai.

Yumo Dinai resembled a giant minotaur with eight arms and a body that glowed with dark starlight. He roared in rage in response to the challenge, snorting flames and white smoke from his nostrils as if he had a furnace in his chest.

Meanwhile, Qitian Muyu, Qitian Muyue, and Suishen Hongtian engaged House Yumo forces, slaughtering any who faced them while working to maintain the Qitian formation as they moved toward Qitian Cave.

House Yumo, weakened by the loss of their senior madame and twenty eminents, struggled against House Qitian.

Just then, House Suishen’s eminents joined the fray.

Eminent Ranxing didn’t rush. It wasn’t a battle he had instigated, and lingering doubts still tugged at him. Facing his old rival, Qitian Muyu, they exchanged thunderous attacks, which made onlookers quickly clear a space for the two house leaders’ intense duel.

Meanwhile, the old patriarch naturally wanted to deal with his eldest son, Suishen Hongtian. But seeing that Qitian Muyue was fending off several eminents like Suishen Cang, he decided to confront her instead, worried that House Suishen would lose its minor-zenith foundationeers.

After all, while Suishen Hongtian was still slaughtering foes, they were all from House Yumo. No matter how much he rebelled, he wouldn’t harm House Suishen’s eminents, whom he considered his future subordinates. Killing them would destroy any chance of him returning to House Suishen.
