Beastmaster of the Ages

”Special tier!” Shuntian Bohai paled. If a tier-one beast wave was capable of forcing the luxdaemons to run....

”All you have to do is to endure. Once our reinforcements arrive, we’ll catch them in a pincer attack and completely crush Yi Daiyan’s dogs,” Shenxi Xingtian said.

”Got it!” Shuntian Bohai’s fighting spirit boiled once more. But just as he was about to thank Shenxi Xingtian, he thought of something. ”Rex Mundi, if I recall, beast waves are only good for attacking. How can they reinforce us?”

The beast wave was mostly comprised of wildbeasts, not warbeasts. Most of them couldn’t be controlled and killed anything that moved. They had only been chased into the battlefield by much stronger warbeasts and were mostly used as cannon fodder. It was unlikely they could follow instructions precisely enough to serve as tactical reinforcements. Once the special-tier beast wave reached the Imperium Central Province, they would first destroy the Central Shuntian Clan.

”Beast waves are only good for attacking. That is indeed true.” Shenxi Xingtian mysteriously smiled.

”Then what’s your reason for sending them?” Shuntian Bohai froze.

”Don’t you understand? The beast wave we’re preparing isn’t going to be sent to the Imperium Central Province. Instead, we’re planning to attack the Greenhill Yushan Clan. No doubt, they’re the ones who sent the most troops for the attack, leaving only two-thirds of their forces behind. Once the special-tier beast wave arrives, there’s a good chance the Greenhill Yushan Clan will be wiped out!”

Yi Daiyan was terrifying, but only to an extent. Her allies, the Greenhill Yushan Clan in particular, were the ebons’ greatest worries, given their ability to undermine their control over warbeasts. In that regard, they were worse enemies for the ebons to face than the Swordgod Lin Clan. Not to mention, they were the largest clan under Yi Daiyan’s banner, making them one of the top three in Ebonia.

Shuntian Bohai still seemed clueless after hearing all that.

”Don’t you get it?” Shenxi Xingtian chuckled. ”The Greenhill Yushan Clan sent out a huge force, led by Yushan Taifeng, Yi Daiyan’s trusted ally. Once they hear about their home base being attacked, the forces fighting you will no doubt be affected by worry for their family back home! At the same time, you’ll be attacking them with the reinforcements we’ll be sending you.”

”Understood.” Shuntian Bohai knew that much. The plan was simple and sounded effective, but he couldn’t be certain if the Central Shuntian Clan would survive the attack, nor could he be sure that the Greenhill Yushan Clan would fall. Yi Daiyan’s alliance had sent a powerful army, but not an undefeatable one. What he was truly worried about was Yi Daiyan herself joining the fight! While it was easy to track the movements of a large army and its armada, who knew where she could be?

”You’re worried about her, I presume,” Shenxi Xingtian asked.

”That’s right.”

”Don’t worry. You made a lot of preparations, so she won’t be able to go wild like she did with the sanctlighters. Not to mention, if she personally shows up, I’ll have the Ebonfiend reenter Ebonia right away.” Shenxi Xingtian felt quite frustrated that he couldn’t command the battle from Ebonia itself.

”Understood!” Though Shuntian Bohai nodded, his mind was still clouded with worry.

”Shuntian Bohai, not only are we sending reinforcements, we’re also attacking the enemy’s base at the same time. That’s already the most we ebons can do for our allies,” Shenxi Xingtian sincerely said.

”I understand, Rex Mundi, and I’m incredibly grateful!” Shuntian Bohai took a deep breath to resolve himself. ”The Central Shuntian Clan shall give it our all to resist the enemy. We pray for your triumphant return to Ebonia! We won’t disappoint.”

”I look forward to hearing word of your triumph,” Shenxi Xingtian said.

”Absolutely!” The transmission stone dimmed as Shuntian Bohai left to prepare for battle. Shenxi Xingtian put the stone away and saw his son behind him.

”Dad, are you sure this tactic will work?” Shenxi Tianxi asked.

”What do you think?”

”If Yi Daiyan is hiding in her army, the Central Shuntian Clan might not hold on long enough before our reinforcements arrive. Not to mention, the three clans don’t seem too committed to sending reinforcements. They may have agreed, but they seem a bit slow in deploying their troops.”

”Hehe.... They’re still wavering. The demise of the sanctlighters terrified them, so they’re still hesitating about whether to fight or surrender. I knew that those fools weren’t reliable, including the Central Shuntian Clan. If they hadn’t been designated as the next target, they’d be just as hesitant to reinforce their allies. In fact, they might not do so at all so as to make their surrender to Yi Daiyan easier down the line.”

Shenxi Tianxi sighed. He didn’t think that their optimistic state of affairs from decades ago would suddenly flip in such a short time. First, Tianming and Xiaodao joined up on the Sun and crushed the myth of ebon invincibility. After that, Yi Daiyan claimed the Infinitum Stele and continued undermining the strength of the ebons’ alliance.

”There’s no need to sigh. If we can’t rely on them, we’ll simply use them the best we can and rely on ourselves!” Shenxi Xingtian said.

”Dad, what do you mean by that?”

”If the other three clans are too slow, we won’t bother reinforcing the Central Shuntian Clan. Instead, we’ll send half a million astral gods and ships straight to the Greenhill Yushan Clan alongside the special-tier beast wave. I’ve begun mustering the beast wave with my bloodline wisteria.”

”Bloodline wisteria!” Hearing the name of the warbeast made Shenxi Tianxi tense up. That was the strongest plant and nova wildbeast in all of Ebonia. Its body was spread out across the entire world. If Ebonia was a lifeform, the bloodline wisteria would be like its arteries. It could consume all kinds of nova wildbeasts, and its many tentacle-like roots could emerge from the ground to consume people! It had been the most feared nova wildbeast in Ebonia for millennia. ”There’s no way that the Greenhill Yushan Clan will be able to defend against all that after sending so many troops out!”

”That’s right.”

”I understand what you mean, Father. With our allies terrified by Yi Daiyan, they’ve become unreliable. So we might as well exchange their lives for those of her allies. If they kill one of our allies, we’ll kill one of hers too! We ebons are undetectable underground, so we can spread ourselves out across the whole of Ebonia as we wish. When Yi Daiyan runs out of allies, she’ll be alone.”

”That’s right.” Shenxi Xingtian’s gaze turned cold and cruel. ”The Greenhill Yushan Clan has always been a huge thorn in my eye. We have to completely exterminate them this time around! As for the Central Shuntian Clan, we’ll take our time in supporting them. Let’s see if the other clans on our side actually bother to do anything at all. Hahahahaha.... Yi Daiyan, just you watch. Once you show up in combat, we’ll make our entrance.”
