Beastmaster of the Ages

The grandparent pair’s greatest concern had been alleviated. They wouldn’t need to stake their lives to protect Tianming anymore. “Granddaughters-in-law, come over for some good news.”

For a while, everyone was happy.

However, an unwelcome guest came over to spoil it. It was a woman in a purple dress. Her features seemed to be of the same age as those in their forties and fifties in the Vermilion Bird Kingdom. Although she looked older, her charm hadn’t fully faded. She was very flashily dressed with similar attire to the seventh branch mistress, Lin Wuyi. Her makeup was also heavy, with many expensive products used to hide her wrinkles. It made her look very out of place; however, she still carried herself with confidence and an air of narcissism, looking at everyone with disdain.

Feiling recognized her—she was Lin Wuyi’s mother. She had been a branch mistress in the past before retiring, but was still in the council hall with a rank equal to Lin Xiaoyun’s father, Lin Yun.

Of course, she was from a younger generation than Lin Xiao and Dongshen Yue.

“Lin Ziqing? What’re you doing here?” Dongshen Yue frowned with displeasure. Lin Wuyi was cut from the same cloth as her mother.

“I’m here to accompany the rex mundi.” Lin Ziqing looked at Lin Xiao and winked. “Congratulations, Second Patriarch, for gaining the Lin Sword of the Middle’s recognition at your age.” Her overly sweet tone made Feiling and the rest want to puke. She was already a grandmother, why was she acting young?

“Rex mundi?” Lin Xiao and Dongshen Yue looked behind her and saw a few astralships land, out of which came thousands of ebons. They didn’t approach Lin Xiao, but Lin Xiao’s gaze met with a black-robed man. A surge of killing intent flowed over.

“Oh, even the tenth rex mundi can be called the rex mundi now?” Dongshen Yue sniggered.

Lin Ziqing rolled her eyes and said with annoyance. “I’m not here to argue semantics. I’ll be blunt. The rex mundi and his people have already decided Guchi Xiaoyin was murdered by your grandson! He’s furious now, and brought many experts to lock up the exit. You two old fellows… understand the situation. Don’t ruin our relationship with the ebons.”

The ‘emissary’ from the ebons looked at Lin Xiao. “Well, in the end, it was unavoidable. A kid brought up without proper parenting would definitely be an idiot who didn’t know his place in the world and who he shouldn’t kill.”

“Did Chi Hun make you come to threaten us?” Lin Xiao snorted.

“No, I came over to remind you out of the kindness of my heart. There’s just some people you can’t afford to provoke.” Lin Ziqing rolled her eyes.

“You just arrived, right? Have you heard the news about our new swordgod disciple?” Dongshen Yue asked.

“Swordgod disciple?” Lin Ziqing’s expression changed. She looked at the ebons behind her, then took out a transmission stone to confirm. Her expression turned ugly. “Fine, count yourselves lucky this time around. However, let me remind you of something....”

“If you have to fart, just let it out.”

Li Ziqing shrugged. “That mysterious ring of Guchi Xiaoyin’s should be with Lin Feng. When Lin Feng comes out, he has to surrender it! As fellows of the Lin Clan, I’m just reminding you that Lin Feng was lucky to become the swordgod disciple now. He can keep his life, but he can’t be greedy for that ring. Even you two may end up dying for that greed. Don’t ruin the harmony between the ebons and us. I hope you two can be smart about it and personally bring the child and the ring to the rex mundi for a formal apology. If he has his face and ring, he may just calm his sorrow. Understood?”

“Get lost,” Dongshen Yue coldly said.

Lin Ziqing clicked her tongue before turning away and joining the ebons experts with a smile.

“A lot of them came. It seems they really want that ring. Feng’er may be in danger.” Dongshen Yue was worried.

“Ah, we’re just too weak! I’ll ask Brother Xiong if the clan can send us some backup. If we mess things up.... The kid’s life is fragile, so we must protect it well,” Lin Xiao said.

“That’s all we can do.”

“The final battle there should be soon. Whether Feng’er can come out will be decided in a day or two”

As they spoke, more astralships arrived, most of them from the ebons. The atmosphere at the Oldgod Domain grew more sinister.

……

At the hive ancestral world, after Tianming defeated Yishker Bushghan, the Lin Clan disciples left and continued down. At the same time, they saw dozens of new arrivals.

“Meow Meow!” Tianming had Meow Meow transform into its Regal Chaosfiend mode, then he and Lin Hongchen mounted it.

Meow Meow sped downward like a bolt of lightning no one could catch up to. Yin Chen, who had gone ahead first, had told him there was another mini star below.

“I delayed you just now, but you’re still bringing me along?” Lin Hongchen lowered his head.

“Right! Your grandfather and mine had a bond of brotherhood, so I can’t let you die now.”

“You’re saying that on purpose so the outside can hear you and win some brownie points with the first branch.”

Lin Hongchen grit his teeth; the first branch had a special situation. The current branch master was Ku’s heir and a member of the council hall, Lin Chongyao. He had inherited Ku’s will and refused to stand with the ebons. He was also currently the leader of the Lin Clan’s traditionalists and Lin Hongchen’s uncle.

Lin Hongchen’s father, Lin Chongjing, also had great authority within the first branch and was aligned with the reformist faction. He was much younger than his brother, and the reformists were working to bring him into the council hall.
