Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

As expected of the Yu-Gi-Oh! world—everything can be settled with cards.

But just as Kira thought the story would move into another classic duel, Mokuba interrupted with a look of disdain: ”No.”

Man: ”?”

Wait, why aren’t you following the script?

Aren’t all Kaibas supposed to be duel maniacs? Isn’t it a rule that they never refuse a duel challenge?

”First, I already know who you are.”

Mokuba kept his hands in his pockets, calm.

”Kirk Dixon, right? Not under Industrial Illusions, or rather, to be precise, one of Pegasus’ adopted sons Pegasus Yako Tenma’s Card Professors, correct?”

Tenma appeared in a DM side story as Pegasus’ adopted son, and the holder of the ”Three Wicked Gods,” rivals to the ”Three Egyptian Gods.”

Tenma had a whole team of elite Card Professors, each a top duelist of their time. Back then, Yugi had to defeat the entire team to reach Tenma.

So, by the logic of the Paradox Brothers—that ”having dueled the King of Games” makes you a ”legendary duelist”—Tenma’s team should all count as ”legendary duelists” too.

Kirk was shocked. ”How did you know!?”

”Come on, you think KaibaCorp’s abilities are that limited?” Mokuba squinted. ”What made you think a simple disguise could fool us?”

”Tch, so I was found out. Those techs are useless...”

As he spoke, data flowed across his body, his virtual disguise dropped, and the tough guy in black sunglasses transformed into a short, somewhat sleazy man with glasses.

”Yes, my name is Kirk Dixon, an elite Card Professor under Master Tenma.”

Mokuba frowned. ”KaibaCorp and Industrial Illusions settled their differences years ago, and have maintained stable cooperation ever since. Why invade our system?”

”Heh, want to know?”

Kirk adjusted his glasses and sneered.

”If you want to know, then—”

”No need, I’ll just ask Pegasus at Industrial Illusions myself.” Mokuba raised a hand. ”I’ll just kick you out now.”

Kirk: ”!”

NANI? Still refusing to duel?

Why aren’t you following the script?

If it were President Kaiba, he’d never refuse a duel challenge. But Mokuba isn’t Kaiba—in fact, his usual role is being taken hostage to force the president to duel. (Is he a princess or something, lol)

As everyone knows, in DM canon, the seven Millennium Items are eight: Yugi’s grandpa and Kaiba’s brother are the ”eighth Millennium Item—the Millennium Hostage,” whose effect is to rapidly advance the plot.

”How about,” Kira interrupted, ”I try dueling him?”

Mokuba glanced at him.

Honestly, if it’s just a duel, there’s nothing to lose—if they win, the opponent will tell the truth, saving a lot of trouble. But Mokuba wasn’t too confident in his dueling skills.

”Can you?” Mokuba asked.

”Of course! It’s rare to visit the Link System—I haven’t tried dueling here yet.” Kira was eager.

”…All right.”

Mokuba nodded and smiled.

”Then I’ll leave it to you—looks like I owe you another favor.”

”No problem.”

Kira stepped forward.

”I’ll be your opponent.”

Kirk finally relaxed.

Whew, finally, a duel!

”Fine.” Kirk sneered, sizing him up. ”You’re one of KaibaCorp’s duelists?”

”No,” Kira replied seriously. ”Just a regular first-year student at Duel Academy.”

Kirk: ”?”

What? A first-year?

He looked at Mokuba as if asking, Are you sure? Even though he knew Duel Academy only accepted elite students, they were still just students. Kirk Dixon, after all, was a famous expert who’d once lost to the King of Games himself. Wasn’t this a bit disrespectful?

”Let’s get this over with, then, Mr. Legendary.”

Kira took his place.

”Tch, fine… have it your way.”

Kirk narrowed his eyes.

”Let me show you how cruel the real dueling world is. Come on!”

”Duel!” x2

[Kira, LP 4000]

[Kirk, LP 4000]

”I’ll go first. Draw!” Kirk declared.

Kirk Dixon was the original user of the Machina deck—the entire Machina series made its debut with him.

”Let me show you the full power of ’Machina’ suppression!

With ’Machina Fortress’ in hand, by discarding Machine monsters whose total level is 8 or more, I can Special Summon Fortress from my hand or Graveyard!”

He showed the other card he’d drawn, and quickly sent it to the Graveyard.

”I discard Level 8 ’Machina Cannon’ to Special Summon ’Machina Fortress!’”

The heavy fortress crashed onto the field, shaking the ground.

”Then I set a card and end my turn.”

Kirk folded his arms, displaying the confidence of a superior.

”Now, first-year student, show me what you’ve learned.”

”Alright, I’ll try not to disappoint you, Mr. Legendary.” Kira smiled. ”My turn, draw.

First, I activate the Quick-Play Spell ’Hand Destruction’—both players send two cards from their hand to the Graveyard, then draw two.”

Kirk picked two cards to discard, and so did Kira. But after the operation, Kira’s Graveyard glowed with golden light.

”I just discarded the Spell Card ’Ojamagic.’ When this card is sent from hand or field to the Graveyard, I can add one each of ’Ojama Green’, ’Ojama Yellow’, and ’Ojama Black’ from my deck to my hand.

So, I add the Ojama Trio to my hand.”

”Ojama?”

Kirk was surprised.

He knew of this basic deck—in the GX anime, Ojamas were considered joke cards, just filler for card boxes. Even Chazz was surprised when someone used Ojamas, saying, ”Who else would use these scrub monsters?”

As a Card Professor, Kirk only dealt with elite circles. He knew of the Ojama deck, but this was the first time he’d seen someone use it in a real duel.

Kirk frowned even more deeply, looking at Mokuba with some annoyance.

Was he just sending out a random scrub to duel him? Was this some sort of insult?

”Next, I play the Spell ’Desperado Manager.’ As long as I have more than one card in hand, I can draw two cards from my deck, but then I need to return three cards from my hand to the top of my deck.” (Anime Card)

He drew, then stacked the Ojama Trio on top of his deck in order.

”Now I activate the Spell ’Enchanting Fitting Room’! I pay 800 LP, reveal the top four cards of my deck, and Special Summon any Level 3 or lower Normal Monsters among them, returning the rest to the deck and shuffling!”

[Kira, LP 4000 → LP 3200]

”The top three cards are exactly the three I just put back, so, of course, they’re Normal Monsters.”

Kira revealed three monsters.

”So, I Special Summon the Ojama Trio!”

[Ojama Yellow, DEF 1000]

[Ojama Green, DEF 1000]

[Ojama Black, DEF 1000]

”Three monsters at once,” Kirk said. ”A creative combo, but they’re still just scrubs. What use is bringing out more of them?”

For some reason, just seeing those three Ojama monsters squatting there made him feel mocked.

”Don’t rush—scrubs have their uses too.”

Kira smiled, calmly revealing another card.

”I activate the Spell ’Ojama Delta Hurricane!!’ If I control Ojama Green, Yellow, and Black, I destroy all cards you control!”

Kirk’s expression finally changed.

Those scrubs can do that!?
