Chapter 997: Chapter 998: Born to Be a General! (Four Updates)

“The command and mobilization power of the Black Armored Cavalry Army is in the hands of Prince Jing, it only requires Prince Jing to nod.”

Sun Boce laughed loudly.

In fact, this was also Yuan Tiangang’s helpless compromise. The Black Armored Cavalry Army had already been firmly grasped by Ling Feng, coupled with the relationship with Prince Jing, even if Yuan Tiangang was the Three Armies Grand Commander, he couldn’t bypass Prince Jing to directly mobilize this Black Armored Cavalry Army.

With the relationship between Prince Jing and Ling Feng, if Ling Feng wanted to deploy troops, the command of this army would naturally fall into Ling Feng’s hands again.

“That’s enough.”

Ling Feng pursed his lips; with the military strength expanded threefold, plus the thirty thousand Black Armored Cavalry Army, recapturing the lost territories around the Black Water Plain shouldn’t be too big of a problem.

“Since that’s the case, I will go back and report to the Grand Commander. As for the designation of the Sky Peak Camp, I will naturally inform the Grand Commander altogether.”

Sun Boce cupped his hands in salute to Ling Feng, then left the camp with his guards. As for the troops promised by Yuan Tiangang, they would naturally be in place within these three days.

After Sun Boce left, Ling Feng couldn’t help but curse inwardly. Yuan Tiangang, that old fox; he had ultimately underestimated this guy’s insidious nature.

Lee Bufan also furrowed his brows, saying gloomily, “Brother Ling, the expedition to the Black Water Plain is likely to be a tough battle!”

“I know this too, but since the Grand Commander holds me Ling Feng in such high regard, naturally I have to give him a surprise!”

Ling Feng took a deep breath and ordered the soldiers to continue their drills, while he took the commander-level generals into the main tent to familiarize themselves with the strategic situation around the Black Water Plain.

At this moment, in the center of the tent, there was a large map spread out, and Xu Zhongda, Ding Yi, and Fang Jianhong were introducing in detail the situation around the Black Water Plain to Ling Feng and the other newly arrived generals.

After a long time, Xu Zhongda stopped his introduction of the Black Water Plain’s details and said grimly, “General Ling, in my humble opinion, the area around the Black Water Plain is easy to attack but hard to defend; those Demon Clan can even lurk in the Black Water River to launch surprise attacks, leaving our army defenseless.”

The Black Water River is a large river crossing the entire Black Water Plain, with countless swamps and streams extending from it. Because the river water contains some special minerals, the soil in the area is black, hence it’s called the Black Water River.

With such a large river as a natural cover, those Water Clan demons are even more formidable, making it several times more difficult to contend with the Water Element Demon Clan in this region than on flat land.

Not to mention Ling Feng; many battle-hardened veteran generals have met their demise in the Black Water Plain, returning in defeat or even losing their lives.

“I’ve roughly thought of that too; the Black Water Plain is indeed not suitable for our warfare. Reclaiming the lost lands of the Black Water Plain is indeed very challenging.”

Ling Feng mused briefly, then said solemnly, “Xu Zhongda, this afternoon, go to Sun Junshi and tell him that this time, our military expansion will mainly recruit Earth Element and Thunder Attribute soldiers; as for other attributes, we don’t want any!”

“Ah?”

Xu Zhongda was slightly stunned, “General Ling, this doesn’t seem to follow protocol?”

“Just go and tell them, whether they agree or not is their business.” Ling Feng raised an eyebrow and said lightly, “Anyway, until the soldiers are in place, this general won’t engage in battle for a day!”

“Yes!”

Xu Zhongda’s mouth twitched slightly; this Little General was indeed no ordinary person!

“The elemental counter is indeed a method, but it may be difficult to produce a game-changing effect.”

Black Armored Cavalry Army General Huo Yuanyi frowned and said.

Since the battle at Yellow Dragon Ridge, Huo Yuanyi stayed under Ling Feng’s command, while Dragon Cloud City Lord had returned to Iron Wolf City to hastily recruit and train soldiers, always ready to provide reinforcements to Prince Jing.

“Indeed, but the current situation is against us; any favorable factor, no matter how small, should not be missed.”

Ling Feng pointed to a location on the map and said slowly, “In the past, the locations where our army was stationed were mostly chosen in valley areas away from water sources for fear of surprise attacks from Water Clan demons. Although it seemed correct, it was, in fact, self-sabotage, tantamount to cutting off our own retreat. These stationed locations are not areas where we can advance to attack and retreat to defend. So, I suggest…”

“…”

Ling Feng pointed at the map, explaining from simple to intricate, and soon formulated a detailed tactic.

It must be said that the military books given by Deng Xian were not in vain; he truly spoke with clarity and reason.

The Northwest Army’s Grand Commander Han Li once commented that Ling Feng was a natural-born general with extraordinary leadership skills and command artistry, even possessing the potential to become a “Military God.”

Some people are geniuses, learning quickly and understanding deeply, something that ordinary people cannot compare to.

…

The expansion of the Sky Peak Camp’s forces went surprisingly smoothly.

Although Yuan Tiangang almost twisted his beard in anger upon hearing Ling Feng’s request, he still had to nod and agree.

Ling Feng had Jing as his backer; who was Prince Jing?

The supervisor sent by the royal family!

Now with Ling Feng at his side and a Black Armored Cavalry Army under his command, his stance was naturally much more robust than before.

Helpless, Yuan Tiangang had no choice but to dismantle over sixty large camps and selected a hundred thousand Earth Element soldiers and thirty thousand Thunder Attribute soldiers, sending them all to Sky Peak Camp to be restructured by Ling Feng.

As such, under Ling Feng’s command, there were now a total of almost twelve reorganized infantry camps, three reorganized Earth Dragon Camps, plus the Vanguard Camp, Scout Camp, War Preparatory Camp, etc., totaling around 180,000 troops!

It could be said that the current military strength truly lived up to the title of “General Wei Yuan.”

Moreover, many top-ranking commanders on the Hundred Battle Heaven List also actively applied to join Ling Feng’s command.

All at once, the newly formed Sky Peak Camp became the most sought-after army in the entire Tianmang Fortress.

In just a few days, the name of Ling Feng and Sky Peak Camp resounded throughout the entire Tianmang Fortress!

In the training grounds, Ling Feng inspected his expanded army, nodding with satisfaction, though a trace of worry was still faintly visible in his eyes.

Tomorrow marks the day for deploying troops; if this battle succeeds, the name of Sky Peak Camp will naturally become even more prominent.

But if this battle is lost, the splendid situation previously created might be largely ruined, making it undoubtedly much harder to truly help Moo Feng grasp real power.

Additionally, Yuan Tiangang would likely make a big fuss over the military order, which was something he didn’t want to see.

In the army, what is needed is not just a genius, but a general capable of winning battles!

Only by winning battles can one solidify their position and earn the heartfelt recognition of all the soldiers.

“No matter what, this battle, Xu Sheng cannot lose!”

Ling Feng clenched his fists, looking at the spirited soldiers in the training grounds, his eyes shimmering with an incomparably firm spirit.
