Chapter 971: Chapter 972: Mercy Has No Place on the Battlefield! (2 Updates)

Thirty thousand elite warriors of the Black Armored Cavalry Army descended like divine weapons from a high slope, using the momentum to carve through the Demon Clan army’s formations like a sharp blade, then launched an incredibly fierce offensive.

The Demon Clan was instantly overwhelmed; faced with the elite Black Armored Cavalry Army, they collapsed almost immediately.

The battle lasted a full hour, with Moo Feng’s Black Armored Cavalry Army annihilating the Demon Clan army numbering over fifty thousand, and even capturing the Demon Clan leader responsible for the surprise attack.

Generals Lee Qing and Wang Meng, seasoned veterans, quickly regained control despite being ambushed, coordinating with the elite forces of the Black Armored Cavalry Army to seize the initiative.

Both men were covered in blood; of the original three thousand soldiers, fewer than five hundred remained. However, with such sacrifices to defeat fifty thousand demons, this was the biggest victory since the Demon Clan began harassing Tianmang Fortress directly.

”Phew...”

Lee Qing panted heavily, his gaze turning to a Black-armored General who had just led the charge, shouting loudly, ”General Huo, we’re so grateful you led your brothers here in time!”

The Black-armored General dismounted calmly and said, ”Don’t thank me, thank Prince Jing instead.”

”Prince... Prince Jing?”

Both Lee Qing and Wang Meng were startled, then they saw the crowd part as three magnificent demon horses approached, ridden by three familiar faces.

Prince Jing Moo Feng, Ling Feng, and the City Lord of Iron Wolf City, Long Xiaao.

”You... how could it be you?” Lee Qing’s remaining eye contracted in shock and confusion.

Wang Meng quickly kicked him, knelt with one knee, and said solemnly, ”I salute Prince Jing!”

Lee Qing snapped out of it, quickly knelt too, gritting his teeth, ”I salute Prince Jing!”

Although they were not entirely respectful to Moo Feng, the boy prince, he was after all a prince, and protocol could not be ignored.

Moo Feng looked down at the two generals and did not tell them to rise, only tugged on his reins and said to the Black Armored Cavalry Army commander, Huo Yuanyi, ”General Huo, tally the spoils and move into Tianmang Fortress!”

”Yes, I obey!”

Huo Yuanyi bowed, and his soldiers promptly sprang into action, ignoring Lee Qing and Wang Meng completely.

The two knelt on the ground, staring at each other in disbelief that this was the same timid little prince previously disciplined by the Grand Commander.

Also, how did Prince Jing come to wield the reinforcement Black Armored Cavalry Army for Tianmang Fortress?

Why was the City Lord of Iron Wolf City beside Prince Jing?

Their hearts were full of doubts, but regardless, Prince Jing now commanded the elite Black Armored Cavalry Army, having achieved such military glory that the Grand Commander must recognize him properly.

Soon, the bodies of the dead demons were dealt with, and the army swiftly headed to Tianmang Fortress.

Lee Qing and Wang Meng could only take their few remaining soldiers and grudgingly trail behind the army.

At the front of the formation, Moo Feng, Ling Feng, and Long Xiaao exchanged a knowing smile.

Seeing the expressions on Lee Qing and Wang Meng, their hearts were elated!

It turned out Ling Feng’s plan was to secure control of the reinforcing Black Armored Cavalry Army before they joined up with the Southern Army at Tianmang Fortress.

After all, the Black Armored Cavalry Army received orders directly from the Royal Family, and at this moment in the Southern Border, the only member of the Royal Family was Moo Feng.

He had absolute authority over the troops, and by involving Long Xiaao, an old hand with the Black Armored Cavalry Army, a few words easily convinced Huo Yuanyi.

On the day Yuan Tiangang summoned Ling Feng to the Commander Tent, they were discussing how to best use the Black Armored Cavalry Army, and Ling Feng stumbled upon some key insights.

In a way, fate played a hand!

After devising the plan, Ling Feng and the others intercepted the army en route, successfully taking command. Based on Ling Feng’s predictions, Yellow Dragon Ridge was not a particularly secretive location; if the Tianmang Fortress relief exposed itself to the Demon Clan’s view, Demon Clan forces would quickly besiege them.

As for how this exposure happened, only Ling Feng knew.

Indeed, Ling Feng had the Despicable Donkey feign an ordinary demon to leak the information, using Lee Qing and Wang Meng’s three thousand soldiers as bait!

The saying goes, no mercy in commanding troops!

Using three thousand bait to trap fifty thousand Demon Clan forces was worth it; those soldiers died fulfilling their purpose.

Although Ling Feng disliked such tactics, extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. Yuan Tiangang initiated treachery, and Ling Feng only reciprocated accordingly.

”Brother Feen, though we have achieved a victory this time, that old fox Yuan Tiangang is not easily fooled. He’ll surely realize we intentionally delayed reaching Yellow Dragon Ridge, causing three thousand soldiers to be endangered. Aren’t we in the wrong then?”

Moo Feng looked at Ling Feng worriedly, asking in a somber tone.

”Ha! When has war required reasoning?”

Ling Feng smirked. His approach to the Art of War was predominantly influenced by Old General Deng.

Old General Deng once gifted Ling Feng military books, detailing tactics used by the YingYang General, sharp and ruthless.

Ruthless to enemies, even more ruthless to one’s own!

”Sacrificing thousands to eliminate fifty thousand Demon Clan forces, this calculation is clear to that old fox Yuan Tiangang. Even if our motives were selfish, the old man will turn a blind eye.”

Ling Feng shrugged, ”Your title is Prince Jing, representing the Royal Family! Though you’re not as authoritarian as the Fourth Prince, who is insidious and cruel, he has more royal majesty than you.”

Moo Feng nodded heavily, ”Brother Feen, I understand!”

Ling Feng patted Moo Feng’s shoulder, smiling gently, ”Alright, don’t be tense. Even if Yuan Tiangang is annoyed, he must outwardly act pleased in welcoming our victory; as Prince Jing, you now have some standing.”

”Brother Feen, I never imagined you’d understand military tactics too. You’re truly versatile!” Moo Feng said admiringly.

”Just a bit of basic knowledge.”

Ling Feng rubbed his nose, knowing once he helped Moo Feng secure his position at the fortress, it’d be time to face the Silver Wolf Demon Emperor head-on.
