Chapter 836: Chapter 837: Heaven and Earth Net Execution Formation! (4th update)

The old general Wu Kui, seasoned by countless battles, laid countless killing traps in this complex terrain. The Sky White Camp’s army lay in ambush like a gigantic strangling net. As soon as Ling Feng’s troops entered the ambush circle, they would be swept away like dry leaves, utterly destroyed.

”That old fellow Wu Kui, although he seems rough and wild on ordinary days, is indeed a rare good general. With this command, he scattered over two million troops, allocating them just right. Although dispersed, they are completely orderly, with posts every five steps and lookouts every ten steps, supporting each other seamlessly. Such an arrangement is simply impeccable.”

A general nodded and praised.

Jia Wenhe also nodded slightly. In this situation of using few against many, Wu Kui’s arrangement was indeed flawless.

”This should be Old Wu’s specialty, the Heaven and Earth Net Strangling Formation. This old fellow has continued to make military achievements with this move over the years! I didn’t expect him to use his trump card against this wet-behind-the-ears Ling Feng.”

Another black-faced general, evidently very familiar with Wu Kui, immediately recognized the formation Wu Kui used.

The advantage of this formation is that a single action can trigger a response from the whole, like a giant net. Once the prey falls into it, it is like being stuck in a swamp; the more it struggles, the more ambushes are triggered, virtually guaranteeing death.

”I wonder how General Ling will respond,”

All eyes turned to Ling Feng’s army. In that vast plain, the five million Tianyang Army looked like a tangled mess, utterly chaotic, without a trace of order.

If one had to describe it, it seemed to be the simplest square matrix. But this square looked awkward, as if Ling Feng was still figuring out how to arrange this massive army into a proper formation.

Five million is not a small number, after all. Ling Feng had never had experience in marching or fighting. Controlling such a huge number of soldiers, it was understandable that he would be flustered for a while.

After arranging for a long time, he ended up with such a strange formation, turning what should have been a regular army into a mob.

”This...”

Jia Wenhe and the other officers were left dumbfounded. With such ability to control troops, Wu Kui might completely wipe out Ling Feng’s army while controlling casualties to a very small number.

Ling Feng’s arrangements not only failed to boost the momentum of the five million strong army but instead diminished it a bit, making it look completely like a defeated and routed force.

Lee Bufan frowned even more deeply. It seemed that Ling Feng was about to lose even his Military Honor Points.

Even the Three Armies Grand Commander Han Li couldn’t help but frown upon seeing this.

Ling Feng’s level was truly unsightly. This was completely inconsistent with the confidence he previously displayed.

However, Ling Feng indeed had almost abnormal comprehension skills. Although things were a bit rushed and hasty at first, gradually, Ling Feng began to grasp some tricks, and the army finally stopped being so chaotic.

The five million-strong army was arranged in five square formations from east, south, west, north, and center, supporting each other. Ling Feng’s commander tent was placed in the center of the central phalanx.

Although still simple, it finally started to resemble a regular army a little.

At this point, the scouts dispatched by Wu Kui’s side had completely grasped the sight of Ling Feng’s army. Dozens of black-armored reconnaissance soldiers stood on a high slope, staring at the Tianyang Army on the plain, motionless.

Apparently, Wu Kui was puzzled.

He initially thought that since Ling Feng dared to challenge him with such confidence, he must have some capability. But looking at those chaotic troops, it seemed that this guy didn’t have any talent for deploying troops.

”Is this, tempting the enemy to go deeper?”

Wu Kui was filled with doubt. He had set up a step-by-step killing Heaven and Earth Net Strangling Formation, yet the other side showed no intention of advancing troops and formed such a messy formation.

It was entirely pointless!

”Let’s test it!”

Wu Kui waved the command flag, directly sending out a sprint squad of more than three hundred men. They instantly attacked the right wing of Ling Feng’s army, devouring over a thousand of the Tianyang Army with zero casualties, before returning to the slope where the reconnaissance soldiers were stationed.

It was easy, far too easy.

Ling Feng was indeed just getting familiar with how to control troops. He hadn’t even had time to respond before a thousand of his forces were swallowed.

After being slaughtered by Wu Kui’s sprint squad, Ling Feng simply looked in the direction where the Sky White Soldiers fled, gave no order to pursue but instead gathered the right-wing camp and began gradually setting up defenses and establishing outposts to prevent sneak attacks from the opponent.

The priority now was to guard the commander tent. Sending troops to pursue would only cause greater losses.

Seeing that Ling Feng had no intention of pursuing, Wu Kui felt stirred. Once again, the squad of more than three hundred charged into Ling Feng’s left-wing, reaping roughly a thousand soldiers with ease and without encountering any resistance.

Ling Feng still paid no attention, continuing to arrange troops and formations. This time, he learned to set the heavy armor army on the outermost, forming a shield formation, and placed ground spikes on the outside of the main army to effectively prevent light cavalry raids from the opponent.

At this moment, Ling Feng was not in a hurry at all. He had five million troops; Wu Kui’s small skirmishes were purely giving him experience. Once he mastered the essence of troop deployment, and the use of troop types and formations, then he could sound the trumpet for counterattack and decide the outcome.

”What on earth is this kid doing?”

After consecutively reaping two thousand soldiers from the opponent, Wu Kui was even more hesitant. According to Ling Feng’s current operations, he could just assemble two hundred thousand elite troops and launch a total attack, which seemed to end this battle quickly.

But, was it really that simple?

Recalling Ling Feng’s previous composure when challenging him, Wu Kui hesitated. He could not believe that an elite student from the Heavenly Position Academy would be stupid enough to expose everything to the enemy’s vision, allowing the opponent to chip away at his forces.

”This individual must have an ambush set up. Perhaps he intends for my Heaven and Earth Net Strangling Formation to break without being attacked. Hmph, I’m not falling for it!”

Wu Kui snorted coldly, abandoning the idea of launching a total attack. Little did he know that Ling Feng indeed had no plots, he was simply bumbling along, exploring randomly.

As the saying goes, true or false, real or fake. The art of war is full of deception and change.

Wu Kui, deeply versed in military strategy, never expected that one day he would miss a perfect opportunity because of the very art he revered.

However, although Wu Kui had his doubts, he wasn’t just going to wait around. If the opponent didn’t make a move and he didn’t act either, were they supposed to win this competition with their eyes?

Wu Kui waved his hand grandly. Immediately, from deep mountains, large swamps, mountain gorges, and forest canyons emerged countless hundred-man commando squads. Uniformly, they were all heavy armored beast cavalry, and these cavalry units rode high-level Demons, completely unfazed by ordinary ground spikes; their impact force was unparalleled, able to break through the shield formation of heavy armor infantry effectively.

Heavy Armored Beast Cavalry were the elite among elites in the Sky White Army. Each cavalryman was trained at an extremely high cost.

These cavalry units gathered in one place, imposing, with a force of three thousand strong!

The speed of these cavalry units was incredibly fast. Almost in an instant, they charged onto the high slope where the reconnaissance team was stationed. With a command from Wu Kui, three thousand Heavy Armored Beast Cavalry roared down the slope, charging toward Ling Feng’s formation.
