Chaos Heavenly Emperor Technique

Chapter 834: Chapter 835: Last-Minute Preparation! (2nd Update)

”Good!”

After a moment, Wu Kui gritted his teeth and nodded in agreement.

In terms of martial prowess, he might not stand a chance against the Demon Emperor by Ling Feng’s side, but when it came to command and military strategy...

Ling Feng was just a rookie!

As long as he won, he could earn one hundred honor points. That was nine more than all the honor points he’d amassed in his twenty-something years of military service!

”Good, since General Wu also agrees, General Ling, there shouldn’t be any problem for you, right?”

The Three Armies Grand Commander, Han Li, glanced at Ling Feng and said calmly.

”Please wait a moment.” Ling Feng cupped his fists toward Han Li, ”Grand Commander, I have a question.”

”Feel free to ask.” Han Li smiled faintly. So far, he was quite satisfied with Ling Feng’s performance.

Although Ling Feng was young, he was exceptionally brave and could command a Demon Emperor, which made him a hundred times stronger than most of the generals present.

Keep in mind that even throughout the entire Sky-reaching Fortress, including himself, there weren’t more than five Emperor-level experts!

”Ahem...” Ling Feng’s old face turned slightly red, ”What does sand table exercise mean?”

”...”

Everyone’s mouths twitched; not even knowing what a sand table exercise was and agreed to it? How big was this kid’s heart!

Instantly, the soldiers who initially regarded Ling Feng with admiration couldn’t help but be greatly disappointed again.

This kid, did he not attend a proper military strategy course at all!

In fact, as a ”chronic class skipper,” Ling Feng hadn’t taken a single military strategy class!

”The so-called sand table exercise involves using the sand grains within a sand table to simulate the changes on the battlefield, allowing for instant changes in the situation, and is a military way of researching tactics and simulating battles.” Military Counsellor Jia Wenhe stepped forward to explain quickly.

”Oh.” Ling Feng’s eyes lit up, murmuring quietly, ”I see.”

”General Ling doesn’t understand the rules, so are we still going through with the sand table exercise?” Wu Kui saw that Ling Feng didn’t even know what it was and showed a trace of contempt in his eyes, though it was well-concealed, and he felt a slight sense of satisfaction internally.

I really thought you were hiding something up your sleeve, turns out you’re not even a rookie!

”Ling Feng, let me do it instead.”

Lee Bufan walked to Ling Feng’s side, patting his shoulder, whispered, ”You know nothing about the rules, while I at least know a little bit.”

Ling Feng rubbed his nose, ”Bufan, what are your chances of winning?”

Lee Bufan swallowed hard and said seriously, ”Less than ten percent.”

”Then forget it, I’ll do it myself.”

Ling Feng forced a smile and looked toward Wu Kui, ”Compete, why not! Once I, as a General, give my word, it cannot be retracted by even four horses!”

Saying this, Ling Feng turned to Jia Wenhe, ”Please, Military Counsellor Jia, kindly explain the rules of sand table exercises to me in detail.”

As the saying goes, last-minute preparation is better than none at all!

Wu Kui’s eyes flashed a hint of disdain, thinking he could win by last-minute cramming?

Ludicrous!

”Then General Ling, listen carefully.”

Jia Wenhe gently shook his feathered fan, quickly explaining the rules of sand table exercises. Ling Feng’s memory and comprehension reached an extraordinary level, and although he couldn’t assimilate everything instantly, he remembered all the rules.

”Grand Commander, we can start now.” Ling Feng bowed to Han Li.

”General Ling, won’t you ponder over it a little longer?” Jia Wenhe was slightly stunned, he had just finished explaining!

”No need.” Ling Feng nodded slightly to Jia Wenhe, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

As Ling Feng’s voice fell, whispers filled the Commander Tent.

”This kid, he’s probably given up in despair, right?”

”I think so, those complex rules, even generals with three to five years of military experience might not digest them quickly, this kid...”

”He’s destined to lose!”

The surrounding soldiers didn’t have any confidence in Ling Feng, even Lee Bufan and others were worried.

This time, Ling Feng acted too recklessly!

Mobilizing troops and strategizing in battle is completely different from practicing sparring matches!

”Alright, since General Ling is ready. Bring out the sand table!”

Han Li squinted, his eagle-like eyes fixed on Ling Feng, curious about where this young man drew his confidence from!

With a wave of Han Li’s hand, eight soldiers carried a wooden table into the center of the tent, two for each table. On each table was a landscape model made of sand, representing the border terrain.

The four tables were put together to form a large sand table that displayed the complete border terrain of the Sky White Empire and the Tianyang Empire’s battlefield.

Hills, valleys, plains, forests, all sorts of landscapes were accurately presented.

This sand table was a Low-level Spiritual Artifact, with each grain of sand considered a treasure, capable of best simulating the real battlefield situation.

Once the eight soldiers stepped back, Han Li slowly descended from the main seat and stood before the sand table. With a wave of his right hand, a gentle breeze passed over, and in an instant, in two corners of the sand table, large numbers of soldiers appeared, five million in the southwest and two million five hundred thousand in the southeast.

”This sand table exercise will model a famous battle from the history between the Sky White Empire and the Tianyang Empire. Now, both generals can choose which army to command.”

”General Ling lacks experience, so I’ll let you choose which army to command first.” Han Li said lightly to Ling Feng.

”Is there even a need to ask?”

Ling Feng raised an eyebrow and said without hesitation, ”Five million versus two and a half million, of course I’d choose the five million!”

”Alright, then in this sand table exercise, General Ling commands the Tianyang Empire’s army with five million troops, and Wu Kui, you command the Sky White Empire’s army with two and a half million troops. You win by eliminating the opposing army or capturing their camp.” Han Li said seriously.

”Heh, General Ling, you’ve made a huge blunder this time!” Wu Kui laughed loudly, ”I am a general of the Sky White Empire, familiar with all our corps and elite forces. Do you think having five million troops is an advantage? Hahaha...”

Ling Feng shrugged indifferently, ”It makes no difference to me at all.”

”Hmph!” Wu Kui’s laughter stopped abruptly, his eyes flashing with sharpness, teeth clenched, ”General Ling! I’ll show you what it means to be a veteran fierce in battle! You, a rookie who has never fought on the front lines or led a command, don’t deserve to be a general!”

Ling Feng pouted. Regardless of anything else, with five million troops, he already held an absolute advantage in numbers!
