Chapter 806: Chapter 807: Four Great Universities Sword Team Competition! (Part 2)

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and the long-awaited tournament of the strongest sword teams from the Four Great Universities had finally arrived.

During these three days, besides his daily cultivation, Ling Feng also spared some time to visit General Ying Yang’s Mansion to inquire with Deng Xian about news concerning the Ancient Tower Forest.

From Deng Xian’s words, Ling Feng indeed gleaned some valuable information. The Ancient Tower Forest was truly a magical place. However, its Three Thousand Great Dao was beyond ordinary comprehension. No matter how gifted you were, without the fortune, you could only reap minor benefits from entering there.

Having learned more about the Ancient Tower Forest, Ling Feng decided to venture there for himself once the sword team tournament of the Four Great Universities concluded.

He himself possessed three hundred military honors, allowing him to bring two more people along into the Ancient Tower Forest besides himself.

As for the final slot, he’d let the members of the East Courtyard Sword Team decide amongst themselves.

Right now, the most crucial task was to defeat the other three universities’ strongest sword teams to gain the qualification to challenge the Royal Sword Team!

...

Under the noonday sun!

All the members of the East Courtyard Sword Team, led by Vice Dean Tong Chengtai, arrived at the Central Training Ground of the Imperial City.

This was the very place where Ling Feng had once become renowned by defeating the young talents of the Tianyang Empire.

The Four Great Imperial Colleges’ top four sword teams would compete on this stage to determine the only team eligible to challenge the Royal Sword Team.

This level of sword team competition naturally attracted a huge audience, primarily composed of young talents, major clans, and nobility!

The entire Central Training Ground was packed with crowds, all eyes focused on the central platform.

It was destined to be a series of spectacular and exhilarating high-level battles!

On the main judge’s seat, the deans of the Four Great Universities were all present. This was an honor battle for the universities, and as leading figures, they naturally wouldn’t miss it.

In addition to them, only some vice deans and academic-level figures qualified to sit in the main judges’ seat, with the central spot still empty, reserved for the organizer of this match, Lord Feng Chang from the Three Grand Ministers and Nine Ministers, and Wen Ce, in charge of temple ceremonies.

This Wen Fengchang held a high position among the Nine Ministers. Even the deans of the Four Great Universities naturally couldn’t afford to be negligent.

Soon, a luxurious carriage, escorted by a ceremonial team, slowly entered everyone’s view, and the four deans simultaneously stood to greet it.

From the carriage emerged an old man with white hair and beard, appearing to be of ripe old age, yet still full of vigor and with bright, piercing eyes. He strode onto the high platform, clasped his hands to salute the deans of the Four Great Universities, and took his seat, marking the official opening of this year’s Four Great Universities Sword Team Tournament.

The Four Great Imperial Colleges were: Heavenly Position Academy, True Dragon Academy, Sea Blue Academy, and Wenyuan Academy.

In this year’s tournament of the strongest teams from the four universities, apart from Heavenly Position Academy having a change in their team members, the lineups of the other three universities remained largely unchanged.

In the previous tournaments, the team representing Heavenly Position Academy had always been the Central Courtyard Sword Team, but this time, the team led by Li Yunting could only watch the match from the audience seats.

The team representing True Dragon Academy was led by Mo Wufeng, who had previously crossed paths with Ling Feng. His strength was on par with Li Yunting.

The sword team representing Sea Blue Academy was unexpectedly led by a woman named Cai Yan. Before the match, Li Yunting had come over to introduce their old rivals’ situation in detail.

During the Five Academy Sword Team Tournament, they were competitors, but now, as all of them were students of Heavenly Position Academy, naturally, all their hopes rested on the East Courtyard Sword Team.

This Cai Yan, though a woman, truly lived up to the saying ”no less capable than men.” Underestimating her for being a woman might lead to regrettable consequences.

As for Wenyuan Academy, their captain was Yun Qianfan. Ling Feng had once seen him in the Sea and Sky Barrier within the Heavenly Vein Forest. He and Li Yunting had contended for a stalk of Nine-leaf Wind Singing Grass. Their strengths were well-matched.

”That’s Mo Wufeng, and that’s Yun Qianfan...”

Goo Tengfeng pointed at several sword teams opposite them, providing his teammates with some insights about their opponents.

After all, although Goo Tengfeng had never competed in a tournament of this level, he had attended every annual competition and was quite familiar with these participants.

Ling Feng nodded slightly. These teams’ strengths were roughly on par with the previous Central Courtyard Sword Team, not too much disparity. Although they had already defeated the Central Courtyard Sword Team last time, it was still wise not to let their guard down against such strong teams.

After the host delivered an unnecessarily long opening speech, they announced the rules for this tournament.

The rules were straightforward. Each pair of sword teams would have a match. A point system was in place—winning a match earned a point, while losing gained no points. The team that won three consecutive matches was the victor.

Moreover, each match was a best-of-three series, with one match held per day, spanning a total of six days for the entire tournament cycle!

Once the competition rules were made clear, it was time for the team captains to take the stage for the drawing lots segment.

This time, Goo Tengfeng was fortunate not to draw the first lot, allowing them to first observe their opponents’ strengths and combat styles.

”Great!”

The host collected the tags from all team captains and loudly announced, ”Now, let’s welcome the True Dragon Academy and Sea Blue Academy sword teams onto the stage for the first match. Both team captains please decide your lineup within the time of one incense stick. Once on stage, team members cannot be changed.”

As the words fell, the audience erupted in excitement. Historically, True Dragon Academy had always been a strong contender, and with Sea Blue Academy’s captain Cai Yan being one of the top ten beauties of the Imperial City, this match was bound to be spectacular!

”Sister Cai Yan, go for it!”

Students from Sea Blue Academy shouted madly, naturally drawn to the allure of beauty, especially someone as talented and beautiful as Cai Yan.

”Sister Cai Yan is indeed still valiant and heroic! Absolutely amazing!”

In the audience, a certain corner naturally included Deng Yongshi and Deng Xian. Although Deng Yongshi’s main purpose was to see her ”cheap teacher” Ling Feng, she couldn’t miss cheering for her senior, Cai Yan.

”You girl, not practicing diligently, is the Deng family’s scholarly heritage inferior to that old Cai Yong?”

Deng Xian couldn’t help but mutter. Cai Yong was Cai Yan’s grandfather, who served in the same court as Deng Xian. As young men, they too had once dueled on the very arena below.

Unfortunately, Cai Yong’s granddaughter now stood on the stage, while his own granddaughter could only watch from the audience seats!

It’s truly disheartening to compare oneself with others!
