Chapter 779: Chapter 780 Xiling City! (2nd update)

The next day, Ling Feng found Goo Tengfeng early in the morning. He proposed that they head to the Task Hall together to select a suitable Elder task.

Having learned about the Blood God Sect, Ling Feng hoped to accept a mission to the Western Wasteland. He wanted to train with his teammates while also eliminating the threat posed by the sect.

According to Despicable Donkey, at least a dozen towns in the Western Wasteland had innocent civilians affected. If they couldn’t be treated promptly, it might be too late to save them.

Seeing Ling Feng arrive with Tuoba Yan first thing in the morning, Goo Tengfeng couldn’t help but smile wryly and said, ”Ling Feng, there’s no need for you to worry about such a trivial matter.”

”Because I want our training destination to be in the Western Wasteland, I thought I’d come and select an Elder task with you, Captain,” Ling Feng said, pursing his lips.

”The Western Wasteland?” Goo Tengfeng’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. ”Within the Sky White Empire, the Western Wasteland is barren, resources are scarce, and it is full of treacherous lands. It’s really not a good place for training.”

”The reason I want to go to the Western Wasteland is also due to a specific reason,” Ling Feng sighed lightly and relayed the details about the Blood God Sect to Goo Tengfeng, before saying, ”The Blood Sword Heavenly Monarch has caused chaos in one area. It is somewhat related to me, so I hope to eradicate this force completely before it grows!”

”Uh-huh,” Goo Tengfeng nodded in agreement after hearing this. ”Allowing the Evil Path to wreak havoc in the Western Wasteland is indeed intolerable.”

...

Not long after, Ling Feng and the others arrived at the Task Hall. Among the Elder tasks in the Western Wasteland, there were quite a few related to the Blood God Sect.

One task detailed that in the Western Wasteland, there were about sixteen cities where many civilians were afflicted by the Demon Barrier. They wandered the cities like walking dead, with evil spirits filling the entire city. The military had sent soldiers to lock down the cities, calling for talented individuals seeking a solution.

If the issue couldn’t be resolved within three months, the only option would be to set the cities ablaze to eliminate all hidden dangers.

Besides this medical task, there were demon-slaying tasks such as killing the Blood God Sect Hierarch or capturing its believers...

It seemed that after the uproar caused by Despicable Donkey, news of the Blood God Sect had spread completely and had attracted the attention of the Imperial City.

Soon, the Four Great Universities and major powers in the Sect World would surely begin purging the Blood God Sect while handling the aftermath.

”Three months to resolve it, or they’ll set the cities on fire? The military’s methods are quite ruthless!” Ling Feng couldn’t help but comment softly.

”It’s the only way,” said Goo Tengfeng, a member of a military aristocratic family. He naturally understood the military’s approach better than Ling Feng.

”Locking down sixteen cities requires vast military resources. Three months is already the limit. If during resource allocation, neighboring countries or the Demon Clan take the opportunity to attack, it would be more than just the loss of burning ten cities.”

”Moreover, those civilians afflicted by the Demon Barrier will inevitably transform into demons. If they can’t be rescued in time, sacrificing a small number of people is inevitable.”

Ling Feng nodded slightly, ”You make a point, but as a healer, it’s my duty to save lives. Though I’ve grown accustomed to life and death, seeing dozens of cities reduced to a sea of fire is hard to bear.”

Ling Feng took a deep breath and then removed the task of healing the civilians in the sixteen cities of the Western Wasteland, along with the demon-slaying tasks of killing the Blood God Sect Hierarch and believers.

”Captain, the mission this time is quite challenging, and the Western Wasteland is far from here. It seems we can’t delay any longer, so let’s split up and gather everyone. We’ll depart in an hour!” Ling Feng said solemnly.

”An hour?” Goo Tengfeng was surprised at first, but seeing Ling Feng’s serious expression, he quickly nodded. ”Alright, but I know that the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion has a Teleportation Array directly to Xiling City. Xiling City is the largest in the Western Wasteland and is not far from the cities like Wu Xi and Rock Castle where the Blood God Sect runs amok.”

”The Thousand Mechanism Pavilion has a Teleportation Array directly to the Western Wasteland? That would be perfect!” Ling Feng touched the bridge of his nose. The Thousand Mechanism Pavilion was the hub for all Teleportation Arrays within the Heavenly Position Academy. The last time they went to the Wind and Thunder Sword Tower, it was through the Teleportation Array of the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion.

With the Teleportation Array, they could save a lot of time.

About an hour later, all members of the East Courtyard Sword Team had gathered at the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion.

Besides Ling Feng and Goo Tengfeng, Jiang Xiaofan, Lee Bufan, Mu Qianxue, Xue Xiaolin, Gong Cheng, and others had also arrived. Of course, Tuoba Yan naturally wouldn’t miss accompanying Ling Feng.

”Alright, time is of the essence. Let’s move out,” Ling Feng took a deep breath and handed the Task Token in his hand to a disciple of the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion. After confirming that there were no issues, the disciple led the group to a Teleportation Array, respectfully saying, ”Brothers, this is the Teleportation Array to Xiling City.”

”Uh-huh, thank you,” Goo Tengfeng cupped his hands toward the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion disciple and then activated a dial similar to a compass on the Teleportation Array. A beam of light shone within the array, and the group entered it, immediately disappearing from where they stood.

About seven and a half minutes later, everyone saw a flash of light as the teleportation channel finally ended. They leaped from the channel to find themselves in a completely different world.

Xiling City was the largest city in the Western Wasteland, but due to its harsh climate and barren resources, it seemed vast yet sparsely populated.

”Who are you people, and where did you come from?”

Seeing a group of people suddenly emerge from the Teleportation Array, several armored guards immediately approached, looking very serious.

Recently, due to the emergence of the Blood God Sect in the Western Wasteland, people frequently used the Teleportation Array in Xiling City as a way to Rock Castle.

Like today, Ling Feng’s group was already the fourth one to arrive.

Hence, the soldiers were accustomed to it and were merely performing routine inspections.

”We are students of the Heavenly Position Academy, here to investigate the Blood God Sect,” Goo Tengfeng took out a token from his body, tossed it over, and said lightly, ”I am Goo Tengfeng, the eldest son of the Goo Family.”

The leading soldier glanced at the token thrown by Goo Tengfeng and immediately bowed respectfully, ”So it’s the eldest son of General Goo! I am Han Linzhong, Deputy General of the Xiling Army’s Xiaoqi Camp. Greetings, Mr. Goo!”

”No need for formalities,” Goo Tengfeng waved his hand, stepping down from the teleportation platform, and said lightly, ”Deputy General Han, we are new here, and there are many things we need your guidance on.”

”Mr. Goo, you’re too kind. I will tell you everything I know without reservation!”

Han Linzhong naturally dared not slack in the slightest, as the Goo Family had a long history of titles. Even someone as high-ranking as Winning Shine Upper General showed them respect. The reputation of the Goo Family Army was well-known throughout the Northwest Army, even rivaling the Black Armored Cavalry Army.

Facing the Young Master of the Goo Family, he, a humble Deputy General, had to be cautious and avoided saying anything wrong.
