Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

That time he killed Ognian, he’d gained 2 points of Source by devouring him—it was just too powerful!

The Corpse Explosion Skill was the same. Its performance in actual combat was astonishing.

After reaching level 3, not only did the corpse explosion’s radius double, but the corruption speed of its death characteristic also increased significantly.

Wei’en took one last look at his panel. He was only half a Spirit level away from advancing to an Official Mage...

DONG. DONG DONG...

”Is it morning?”

Shaking off the joy of his power-up, Wei’en pulled open the curtains. He saw the Red Moon gradually fading from the overcast sky, but the sun didn’t rise in the same uncanny way.

’So, is the Red Moon the only special one...?’

”Praise the Dawn.”

Even in the endless drizzle, the Lantern Bearers, clad in black robes, still arrived on time.

Praising the greatness of the Dawn, they carefully opened the shades on the streetlights to extinguish the candles within, cleaning the oil and wicks to make them ready to be lit before nightfall.

At the same time, pedestrians gradually began to fill the streets, adding a breath of life to the silent world.

However, compared to other nights, more people seemed to have met with misfortune last night.

Barely ten minutes had passed, and already people with gauze wrapped around their heads were knocking on the door of the Morris Clinic, hoping the highly-skilled doctor could offer them some treatment.

Unfortunately, however, compared to Yuan, Kali was clearly not very skilled in medicine.

Even the Dawn Faith Magic she had learned was powerless against the wounds inflicted by the Deep Sea Giant Beast, leaving those who came seeking help to depart in disappointment.

Wei’en stood at the window, watching the people outside, and murmured, ”And yet, not a single one of them is in despair...”

These people who came seeking treatment had, for the most part, arrived calmly. After trying and failing, though they were disappointed, not a single one of them wailed or despaired.

They would simply shake their heads, let out a sigh, say they would try somewhere else, and then stumble away, heading off of Golden Street.

’Such a resilient group of people...’

Just then, Clelia’s lazy voice came from behind him. ”What, do you sympathize with them?”

”It’s not so much sympathy. I’m just surprised by their reaction.”

Wei’en didn’t turn around, his gaze fixed on a petite woman at the end of Golden Street.

She had been one of the first to seek help at the Morris Clinic, and she was holding a newborn baby in her arms.

Even though her eyes could see nothing, and even though she stumbled time and again, the baby was never harmed in the slightest...

”That’s just how this world is. They don’t need sympathy or pity, and they certainly don’t need any damn hope. Reality tells them that just being alive is hope.”

Wei’en glanced sideways at her. Unlike before, there was something unreadable in Clelia’s eyes.

”Maybe... You’ve been to many places, haven’t you? Are the other city-states just like this?”

Clelia snorted. ”Nowhere is spared under the light of the Red Moon.”

”Hmm, I heard there’s a place where the Red Moon doesn’t hang overhead...”

”A lie. No such place exists in this world. Even if it did, it could only be a holy land of the Red Moon Church.”

Wei’en nodded thoughtfully. ’Looks like I’ll need to be more cautious when I attend that gathering.’

”You seem to be quite...”

”...Pretend I didn’t say anything.”

Wei’en grimaced to himself. ’What a sensitive, suspicious, and fickle woman.’

”That treasured collection I gave you before, have you read it yet?”

”I haven’t had the chance yet...”

Clelia shot him a glare. ”I may have plenty of time, but if you’re just going to blow me off...”

”Today. I’ll find time to look at it today.” Before she could finish, Wei’en immediately threw his hands up in surrender. ”But what’s actually recorded in it anyway?”

”A part of the true history of the Third Era. I told you that before.”

”Which part is that? You must know there’s a saying that circulates among Wizards: ’Do not attempt to seek knowledge from before the Third Era’?”

”How should I know? I can’t even read the words in it.”

Clelia rolled her eyes at him and turned to walk into the shadows at the side of the room. ”All I know is that if you don’t complete it as stipulated in our contract, the consequences won’t be very pleasant...”

”When I come back tonight, I’ll bring you some tasty food, so remember to save room.”

With that, she disappeared into the shadows of the room.

’The consequences won’t be very pleasant?’

Wei’en scoffed. ’Just wait until I advance to Official Mage. We’ll see if you can still say that then!’
