Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

The four heads behind him suddenly lunged forward. They grew to his height, their massive mouths opened, and in the blink of an eye, they devoured every trace on the ground.

Truly worthy of the name Soul-Devouring; not a single trace remained.

’It’s surprisingly good for cleaning up a battlefield...’

[You have used Soul-Devouring Magic to devour Ognian Sherman’s Origin. Your Origin has been enhanced. Evaluation: Crunchy, tastes like chicken? Special Reward: Origin +1, Spirit Level +1, Resilience Level +1.]

’So this is the effect of Soul-Devouring Magic!’

Devouring the Origin of other beings to strengthen one’s own Origin Power.

If the prerequisites for inscribing the Soul-Devouring Rune weren’t so harsh, the Ghost Soul School would have probably forced all its apprentices to choose the Secret Art Spell System long ago.

As his Origin increased, Wei’en felt subtle enhancements to his body. His Spirit, resilience, and perception all grew stronger.

”Who’s there?”

The first to arrive were the Council guards. Clad in black armor, they held one-handed swords and shields, watching Wei’en warily.

”I am Investigator Wei’en Loft of the Secret Investigation Department’s Logistics and Investigation Department,”

Wei’en raised his hands, signaling he meant no harm. ”My apologies. I ran into a bit of trouble here, but it’s all been taken care of.”

He didn’t try to flee; instead, he stood his ground, waiting for them to arrive.

He wasn’t the least bit worried that killing Ognian would cause any trouble. ’This is an internal matter for the Ghost Soul School. I shouldn’t have to explain it to outsiders, right?’

Besides, after all these days, he had long since seen through the cruel and indifferent nature of this world.

Even the Dawn Church didn’t champion justice, so who would seek retribution for an insignificant dead man?

The guards glanced at each other. One of them spoke up, ”Please remain where you are and do not make any sudden movements. Wait for our superiors to arrive.”

”Of course, of course. I’ll cooperate fully.”

As he spoke, Wei’en took out a bottle of Enlightenment Potion and poured it into his mouth, restoring what little Spiritual Power he had left.

Just then, ”Holy!”

Hmm?

Wei’en reacted quickly. ”Nico, Ruke.”

Immediately after, a piercing ray of light shot through the phantom clone he had left behind, not even giving it a chance to chant a Charm Spell.

’Melbel...?’

Leaning against a wall, Wei’en watched as a Council guard was sliced in two by that ray of light. Cold sweat streamed down his back.

’So close. I was so close to dying...’

”You damn bastard, what are you doing!?” Lisi’s furious roar followed.

Melbel stood at the other end of the light, looking coldly at Wei’en. ”Judgment.”

As his voice fell, his figure suddenly vanished.

”Heretic.”

The next moment, he had already appeared beside Wei’en, the lightsaber in his hand slashing down without mercy.

”Mel...”

Wei’en caught a glimpse of his figure from the corner of his eye. He felt a shadow envelop his entire body, and the fear of death surged from his heart to his head, making him tremble uncontrollably.

’Dammit, I don’t have enough Spiritual Power to cast a Blink Spell...’

’This time I’m really dead...’

CLANG! SCREECH!

The sound of metal on metal echoed through the small space.

Yegor stood before Wei’en, a long, pitch-black blade in his hand, blocking Melbel’s lightsaber. ”What do you think you’re doing to my dear subordinate, you little brat from Dawn?”

Melbel glanced at him, then his gaze fell upon Wei’en. He slowly released the lightsaber, letting it dissipate inch by inch.

”Blasphemy...”

”Blasphemy? Did he blaspheme against you?”

Melbel ignored him and turned to walk back toward the reception hall.

From beginning to end, his gaze never once fell upon the guard he had slain.

Yegor watched his retreating back, stroking his chin as he asked, ”Wei’en, what did you do to this... Knight? For him to use the word ’blasphemy’... you didn’t, did you...”

”No!”

Wei’en gritted his teeth, pushing himself up against the wall to keep his trembling legs from giving out.

’Dammit, I’d have to be insane to have any ideas about a guy like that.’

’Blasphemy... Blasphemy my ass!’

’I’m more likely to blaspheme against your Saintess Kali... Hmm? Sister Kali?’

’Could it be because of the guidance ritual back then? Just because I lied and said I was a follower of Dawn?’

Wei’en glanced at Melbel’s back. ’If that’s the case, then this is one hell of a messed-up situation...’

”Are you okay, Wei’en?” Lisi had also rushed over. ”That bastard actually attacked you! I really want to kill him right now. If that old geezer Balats hadn’t stopped me, I...”

”AHEM, HEM, HEM.”

Behind her, Balats, the Deputy Director of the Secret Investigation Department, coughed, his face ashen. ”Lisi, it seems I’ll have to find some time to pay a visit to your Montoya Clan.”

Lisi pouted and muttered, ”All you know is how to use my family to pressure me. If you’ve got the guts, go after Dawn.”

”Hurry up and take your man back. Isn’t it chaotic enough here already?”

Wei’en hesitated, pointing to the spot where he had fought Ognian. ”What about things here?”

”I remember you, Wei’en. The one from last time,” Balats gave him a deep look, then said, ”Submit a report to me before noon tomorrow.”

”Understood.”

Yegor sheathed his black blade. ”Old man, spending all day condemning this and that with reports... that doesn’t really work, does it?”

”What, should I order you to lead a team to slaughter everyone in Crimea?”

Lisi immediately perked up. ”Great idea! I’ll be the first to charge!”

”Silence!” Balats was so angry his beard was bristling. ”Now get out of here.”
