Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

Chapter 311: 311: Sparring Partner

“Wyaaa!”

“Kurghh!”

Laughter burst out from one side of the nest as cheerful shouts echoed through the air. The sound was light and carefree, completely different from the fierce roars one would expect in a wyvern nest.

Ethan turned his head and froze for a moment.

His children were playing.

Leo was clinging to the thick tail of a young wyvern, laughing loudly as the creature tried to shake him off without using any force. The wyvern let out a soft growl, more annoyed than angry, while Leo held on stubbornly, his face full of excitement.

Sally ran around another wyvern, her small feet kicking up dust. She stretched her arms wide as the wyvern lowered its head, allowing her to touch its snout. She giggled when warm breath brushed against her hands, then squealed and ran away, only to circle back again.

Ash sat boldly on the rocky ground beside a resting wyvern, tossing small stones into the air. The wyvern followed each stone with its eyes, snapping them out of the air playfully. Every time it succeeded, Ash clapped his hands and laughed as if watching the greatest show in the world.

The wyverns did not show even a hint of aggression. Their wings were relaxed, their tails moved slowly, and their eyes followed the children with curious interest. Some even lowered their bodies to the ground, allowing the kids to climb and slide over their scaled backs.

At the center of the nest, Wales sat quietly on a flat stone.

He held a simple flute in his hands, the one Miranda had taught him to play. His small fingers moved gently as he brought the flute to his lips. A soft melody flowed out, clear and calm, carrying across the nest like a breeze.

The sound was not loud, yet every wyvern reacted.

Their movements slowed. Their tails stopped swaying as if they were listening to it attentively.

As the tune changed, the wyverns shifted with it. Some lifted their heads together, others lowered them. A few large wyverns circled slowly above, matching their flight to the rhythm of the flute as if dancing in the sky.

Ethan stood there, watching the scene with disbelief and pride mixing in his chest.

“I never thought I would have a kid with such abilities,” he muttered.

Rathlos stood beside him, his sharp eyes fixed on Wales. His expression was serious, yet there was a hint of admiration in it.

“It is because he understands the nature of beasts,” Rathlos said calmly. “His heart is simple, innocent, and pure. Beasts sense that immediately.”

Ethan frowned slightly, listening closely.

“Every beast emits a note of a specific frequency,” Rathlos continued. “A vibration tied to their instincts and emotions. Your son managed to feel it and respond to it.”

“???”

Question marks practically appeared over Ethan’s head.

“Frequency? Notes? Vibration?” Ethan muttered under his breath. ’Does this world even know about physics?’

He scratched his head helplessly. Sadly, he had never been good at physics or chemistry. If he had been an engineer in his previous life, he wondered what kind of terrifying things he might have created by now.

Rathlos glanced at him, clearly not understanding his inner struggle.

“You should observe him carefully,” Rathlos said after a moment. “He might even be able to summon spiritual beasts from the Spirit World one day.”

“Spirit World?” Ethan asked, his eyes widening.

Rathlos looked at him as if staring at someone painfully ignorant.

“You really do not know much, do you?”

“I have not even reached forty!” Ethan snapped back defensively.

For some reason, Rathlos felt like that was a personal attack. He knew it, yet he could not explain why.

“Besides our world, there are three planes,” Rathlos said, regaining his composure. “The first is Heaven, where the Gods reside.”

Ethan stiffened slightly.

“The second is Hell, also called the Abyss,” Rathlos continued. “It is where Demon Gods and demonic creatures exist. When I say demons, I do not mean a species. They are manifestations of negative emotions and desires.”

Ethan listened carefully, his expression serious.

“The third is the Spiritual World,” Rathlos said. “It is where spirits reside.”

“And these worlds interact with ours?” Ethan asked.

“Yes,” Rathlos nodded. “Each in its own way.”

Ethan absorbed every word, storing the information carefully.

“Can anyone summon spirits?” he asked.

“No,” Rathlos shook his head firmly. “It is not we who choose them. It is they who choose us. If your child is fated to meet them, then he will.”

Ethan hesitated, then asked, “Have you seen anyone summon them? What are the steps?”

“I am not a summoner,” Rathlos replied. “But a summoning ritual is required.”

“I see,” Ethan said quietly.

His gaze returned to Wales, who was still playing the flute, completely unaware of the weight his talent carried.

Inside, Ethan wondered silently.

’Can I summon it too?’

Just as Ethan fell into deep thought, a voice reached his ears.

“You have not forgotten about the promise, right?”

Ethan lifted his head and replied calmly, “There is no way I can forget something that important.”

“That alone is not enough to calm me down.”

Ethan felt a chill crawl up his spine. “You mean…?” he asked carefully.

Rathlos’s expression darkened. “Wait. Do not tell me you do not understand.”

Ethan’s eyes widened slightly. “No I understand but you do not mean that do you?”

“Yes,” Rathlos said firmly. “Now it is a blood feud. Unless that person is killed, I will never live in peace.”

As he spoke, he clenched his fist tightly. Veins bulged along his forearm, and dark mana began to swirl around his hand. The air grew heavy as pressure poured out from him, making the ground tremble faintly beneath their feet. His eyes turned dark, filled with rage and resolve.

“But will that not take time?” Ethan asked, keeping his voice steady.

“It will,” Rathlos replied.

“Your best chance is during the chaos of succession. At any other time, it will be difficult.”Ethan murmured.

He took a slow breath and continued, “Beasts do not grow stronger through training like humans do. Wyverns grow stronger by hunting powerful prey, eating them, and then resting. But I am different.”

Rathlos straightened his back. “I can train. I can refine myself and grow stronger through discipline.”

Ethan looked at him for a moment, then a wide smile spread across his face.

“Then congratulations,” Ethan said.

Rathlos frowned. “For what?”

“You have just found the perfect sparring partner.”

For a brief moment, the two stared at each other. Then both of them smiled. Not warm smiles, but twisted and excited ones, as if they were planning something disastrous.

Not far away, the children who were playing suddenly shivered.

“Achoo!”

“Why does it feel so cold all of a sudden?”

And before they could react,a thunderous boom erupted in the sky shaking the place.
